  1. still good to see, alot of early departures won't see NHL ice, but they still want to go make any money that they can.
  2. Awesome, good to see this. This is good for the sport.
  3. There were alot of comparisons to Nate Gerbe when he was recruited. If we could get production from Rocco next year, like BC got out of Gerbe (or even close) I think alot of people would be really happy. Hard to forget Gerbe's hat trick against us when BC just dominated the Sioux.
  4. Have to remember that some kids will stick around because they like college and the game. Blood said he would have stayed another year if he could. I know that isn't common for everyone, but we will see what happens.
  5. The ironic thing with all of this is I grew up a huge Gopher fan. My dad had season ticket for YEARS. Then I started at UND in fall of 03 and changes quickly (as did my parents). I saw back to back Championships for the Goofs right before going to UND, and I cannot wait to see UND raise that banner. Go Sioux!
  6. Hope to see Rocco back, hope he and the rest of the guys have a chip on their shoulders and some unfinished business for next season!
  7. Well, it was not so much the loss that hurt, but the way we lost and whom we lost to. Not to mention the boys played one of there best games of the season. Go Union tomorrow night, then I'll be anxiously awaiting the NFL draft in May. Then I get to meet my little man, and future Sioux player, at the end of May. College hockey season will be back soon enough, and we should have a very strong team for at least the next two years. Can't wait! Go Sioux!
  8. Screw the haters... last time I enjoyed a Nat'l Championship was in 03 when I was a Goofer Fan (the dark years), Then I started at UND ... Ups or Downs I've been all of the Sioux, and I always will be! Go Sioux, Terrific performance tonight, this team has shown amazing improvement this season.
  9. Yep! It gets old and there will be light at the end of the tunnel, BUT to claim coaching had anything to do with tonight would be ridiculous. Hak had these boys playing the best game of their season. These guys played an amazing game, they did EVERYTHING but win! Disappointed in the result, Proud of the performance! Go Sioux! We'll get them next season!
  10. Biggest disappointment in this loss is that it was with .6 sec left. Other that us losing, this was a tremendous game by UND. Trying to compare the talent of this team to our last Frozen Four team is not even comparable. This team had less to work with, and showed up with more. Wilcox kept the goofs in this game, and UND played their hearts out. This team SHOULD be back in the frozen four next season (possible rematch). We held their top scorers in check and played the best game of our season. Could not be more proud of our team! That being said ... Go Union!
  11. I know it will come up on the message boards, but could anyone calling for Hak's job after that season, those playoffs, and that loss, please hand in your Sioux jerseys and apparel now. If that is your immediate out, you don't deserve to wear the colors. This team will be back in full force and stronger next season. CAN'T WAIT!!!!
  12. Unfortunately, they all count. Good effort by the goofs to get the puck to the net with when OT looked inevitable.
  13. Yeah, that was pretty hilarious. I don't know how stupid you have to be to let a guy talk you into taking a penalty when the game is stopped.
  14. Hate to say it but Kyle is not a bad player, its all the other crap that makes him obnoxious. As for the chirping, we all have them and we all hate them. Thats the same reason Goofer fans didn't like Hextall, he like to talk on the ice. I still remember watching him line up at wing for a faceoff, and you could see him talking to the guy; then the guy winds up and whacks him before the puck even dropped. Funny to see a player get in to someones head enough to make them take a dumb penalty like that. Might have even been against the Goofs, but I don't remember.
  15. Cuz Paul Allen know anything about college hockey? Its embarassing just to watch him try.
  16. Yeah, they all count the same though. Sometimes its good positioning, sometimes it just capitalizing on a rebound. Kind of funny that it is so easy to dislike him, because I don't think there was any animosity towards his brother when he played for CC; but I guess a few dives, some big goals and a rodent jersey will do that.
  17. If Rau didn't take so many dives I wouln't dislike him as much. He has talent, no need for him to flop like a fish; though that is often due to the officials that let him get away with it too.
  18. Cepis was my least favorite of all time ... He was a poor man's Hextall. Ya love him if he's your, and you hate him if he is with the opponent.
  19. Picking apart a simple banner in support of hockey to create a political feud is exactly what the libs want. They saw an opportunity and they took it, then the University and the Kelley took the bait.
  20. Has anyone else written to the school to express their concerns? I'm just curious as to what kind of volume (if any) they received over this. If so, any responses? Personally, I think a public apology should be issued to these girls for overreacting to the situation. A call to their national chapter discouraging required sensitivity training may be in order as well.
  21. I've considered sending it in, and have not ruled it out; but my purpose in the letter was not to start a vendetta against the President. More to express my displeasure with his quick irrational comments. I think it would be more effective for more people to write their own letters expressing their concerns of his comments and actions, and how those comments and actions represent the University. As stated in my letter, the average person would come to the logical decision that this banner was not in protest of "Time Out Week". The only intent of this banner was to support the hockey team. The University turned this into political issue, and gave its own students a public reprimand, when they did nothing wrong. Had the situation warranted action, this would not even be a discussion, but to basically throw these girls under the bus for something that never should have been an issue make the University look weak and willing to appease anyone and everyone, regardless of how ridiculous the scenario.
  22. Hope he reads my letter, though I'm sure he won't; and even if he does I'm sure he won't care. This type of action by UND is actually as disappointing if not more disappoint that eliminating the nickname itself. The opens up, as you said, a very scary Pandora's box.
  23. For those of you on campus, please be careful during the game on Thursday. As this is "Time Out" week you may risk being arrested for any apparel with the Sioux name or logo.
  24. Here is my letter to the University: To whom it may concern, I am a proud alumni of the University of North Dakota, and I am writing this letter to express my sincere disappointment in the University’s actions regarding Gamma Phi Beta, as well as President Kelley’s comments and handling of the situation. To condemn these girls of being anything but supportive of their school and their hockey team is simply ludicrous. There are several problems with what is being regarded as a “lack of sensitivity”: 1. The banner had no reference to the former Fighting Sioux nickname. There was no “Sioux Pride”, “Sioux Forever” or “Let’s Go Sioux”; quite the opposite. The banner was acknowledging that the team is no longer the Fighting Sioux, is no longer wearing Fighting Sioux jerseys (like it, or not), but regardless of what they are named or what jerseys they are wearing, the fans are behind them and supporting them. 2. As for the timing of when this banner was hung, I assume President Kelley is aware there is a hockey game this week, and it is a big one. To entertain anyone’s complaint that this was done in an antagonistic fashion is ridiculous. I think it is safe to assume these girls were not sitting in their sorority house making a banner in support of the hockey team, while simultaneously scheming a way to intentionally disrupt “Time Out Week”. The University may state to the public that they are disappointed in Gamma Phi Beta, but I believe the general consensus of the public will be disappointment in the University and its handling of the situation. Dr. Kelley should have had enough common sense as President of the University to determine this had nothing to do with being disrespectful or uncivil. Had he acted with common sense, he could have deflated the situation in a much more appropriate manner. 3. The fact that this sorority’s national chapter felt compelled to issue an apology and provide sensitivity training for these girls is very sad in itself. Had this been due to the use of a derogatory term or image, this entire issue would be valid; but to inflate a simple statement in support of the hockey team to a controversial social-political issue demonstrates poor judgment and a lack of common sense by the University. There will always people in this world who are compelled to find something to protest or criticize, but at what point do those complaints need to be addressed, and at what point can they simply be dismissed as excessive? The University of North Dakota has complied to the NCAA’s policy changes and removed the Fighting Sioux nickname and moniker from use; no further action should be necessary on their end to demonstrate where the University officially stands. To publicly condemn the simple and innocent actions of these students is nothing more than an overreaction for which the University should be ashamed. It is time for the University to improve their balance of acceptable political correctness and extreme political activism.
