Yep, we'll probably end up with an OL sitting out at safety once or twice! If anyone end up top end players, there are some marketing opportunities there for the student section. Get your HUNTing gear! We'll be HUNTing down interceptions and opposing QBs! C'mon there is some potential there. haha

I know its too early to know for sure .... but its a slow day at work and I need some football material. haha
-
Would have been nice to see, but it is what it is. So with the class likely finished up, barring an last minute additions or defections. Who, at this early point, to we expect to play right away? Hunt - I believe it was already said that he likely won't redshirt. Holm? Randolph? Toivenen? Anyone?

A bit of a rough go for a few Big Sky teams. Yeah, it would be nice to see them get the ball to Reed a bit this year. I think you could definitely work Santiago into a few routes as well. But going forward, its always good to have a fast shifty guy.
-
Interesting that we saw no FBS dropdowns, I though they might go after 1 or 2. Not complaining, I like that the coaches are going out and getting their own guys, just thought they might try to bring in a seasoned play to help fill in the OL with our graduates and early losses.

Is it Football season yet! Man, I hope we dominate Stony Brook and go into Bowling Green confident and ready for the upset. So much potential on this team, time to capitalize. This will be the season we have been waiting for since going D1. Time to hit the playoffs and make some noise.
-
I really like that Bubba is going after some big receivers. Stanley 6' 4" Dulin 6' 4" Blackwell 6' 3" Toivenen 6' 3" Wanzek 6' 4" Add your tight ends into that mix too with Cloyd and Pinke.
-
I think we'll be pretty set at TE, with Cloyd and Pinke, but who knows .... right now I think he has pretty similar size to Luke Stanley, who had a nice year last year. What I want to know is, in addition to size, can he play physical and go up to get some jump balls. Same think that I hope to see more of from Stanley this year. Go up and make some of the tough catches. If you have that leaping ability and physicality, in addition to the extra muscle he will put on in college, there is always potential to be dangerous with that natural size.

Agreed, I'll feel better about it on Wednesday, but aside from the Scholly QB that most wanted, and the unfortunate swap with Chinn, I'd say UND did great. A ton of potential in this class.
-
Completely agree with you! I was really putting that in there as an argument to someone else as to why someone may switch from UND to SDSU, in addition to the proximity being closer to their home. I'll put it this way, when my kids are older, assuming they have the opportunity to play a college sport ... I want them to go where they feel comfortable, are happy and get a good education. When I was an high school athlete, and considering playing sports in college, I was really just looking at where can I play? Where is far enough away from home, but not too far? Which school just felt right? I ended up not going to the school where I could wrestle because I didn't like the school as much; instead I went to UND, played in the band, and loved every minute of my time there.

I think we all are. I'll feel much better when these commitments have actually signed. Really hope most, if not all, intend to be on campus at the beginning of the summer. I think that is absolutely critical.
-
Another FBS offer! Obviously no guarantees with anyone, regardless of who else offers, but I think this is a definitely a kid UND to be going all out to get. C'mon, who would like to see this kid tear up the NDSU in a few years
-
My bad, I totally missed that one
-
He was listed as an offeree on the Wiki, but committed to Nevada. Not sure when that offer was extended, if he turned it down, if it was withdrawn .... but it seems that UND was at least interested at some point.
-
Interesting ... looks like we had an offer to this kid at one time, and now we could see him as early as next season at the Alerus. http://herosports.com/news/weber-state-already-has-one-of-fcs-best-qb-recruits-on-campus

Too bad, about as frustrating as when Chappell left. Probably more frustrating, as this kids had legitimate NFL potential. Trying not to judge, as this could be for any number of reasons; but definitely too bad.

Could not agree more, and Muss did have some really good skill players. Can't totally bash on him. He had probably the best group of FCS wide receivers you could ask for in Hardin, Jackson and Golladay. There was so much potential if we could have held onto Jackson and Golladay, though Jackson seemed to have some work ethic issues. That being said, I agree that it all starts in building up the line. I think that is why NDSU was so successful as well. They really built up their lineman, and it worked well. All in all, I think Bubba and Co have done a great job. They seem very balanced in their recruiting.
-
I'll be the first to admit I didn't follow recruiting nearly as closely when Muss was in charge, and while he certainly found some great kids, I don't think the talent was even close to as evenly spread as what Bubba and Co is putting on the field. I'm not sure if it is what he is doing, or the fact that I am just following closer, but whether it is during a game week, or waiting for more recruiting information, I am constantly excited to see what this team is doing. I know you don't want to always analyze a player, based on who else is recruiting him. I think Bubba made that abundantly clear this past season; and proved why with a guy like Santiago. Though, it is nice to see that some of the players you are getting, are also getting big interest from other programs. Especially regional programs, because it means we are getting a little more respect, and getting guys that would have otherwise gone to a SDSU or a USD or sometimes even an NDSU. Pretty awesome to see. Just pulled this off the Wiki, but I think it definitely speaks to the improvement of the program to start winning some, not all, of the recruiting battles. I wonder if the staff would ever be creative to use a guy like this primarily on defense, but also work him into a few wildcat type scenarios. Put him out there as a guy that could run or pass. I still like Keaton as our primary guy. Just wonder if they would ever get creative like that. Maybe we have enough speed threats with Santiago, Iwarri and Studs, that we don't need to get too creative.
-
Never saw a report for it, or anything by his twitter. Pretty strange to have a kids say he committed then have another source say he committed to SDSU, with no real confirmation of where he is actually going.
-
I believe Randolph was originally coming in as a safety and Chinn was going to be a CB, but I could be wrong. Do we think that Randolph could be a dual role there? Maybe they expected the same from Chinn. Regardless, really happy to see him join UND. Now lets get Blount on campus.
-
So who all is slated to come in next year?
-
I wonder if Dre Randolph has another visit coming up this weekend. One would have though that receiving an offer from UND, then making a visit, then de-committing from Army, would have meant a commitment to UND would soon follow. So maybe he still has another visit in the mix, not sure what his other offers were. Obviously, the team would love to have Grady back and that would be a win in itself, but if they could somehow keep Cloyd, land Randolph, and potential get a QB like Blount, I would be ecstatic about this new class.
