I apologize if there is already a hobey thread somewhere else, but I did not see one. For me personally, I would really like to see two players in the Hobey Hatrick: Drake and Spencer . . . Why? Because I pity the Foo!!! But Seriously, Go Drake!

At this point, this is what coaches can show recruits regarding the playoffs: SDSU Year Round Opponent Result 2009 First Round Montana L 48–61 2012 First Round Second Round Eastern Illinois North Dakota State W 58–10 L 3–28 2013 First Round Second Round Northern Arizona Eastern Washington W 26–7 L 17–41 2014 First Round Second Round Montana State North Dakota State W 47–40 L 24–27 2015 First Round Montana L 17–24 UND Year Round Opponent Result 2015 Got Screwed Selection Committee - Understandable, why a recruit would give SDSU a serious look.

You sure? His name was under Offers on the Wiki, or am I reading it wrong? Regardless .... we should be recruiting anyone who plays on the line and is named Bacon.
-
After looking at the Wiki, does anyone know what our relationship is with this kid? UND should go after him 100?, purely off of his name. Who doesn't want a little Bacon on their O-Line? #Hogs Offensive Tackles (1) Jacob Bacon, 6'5”, 295, Hastings (Hastings), MN (2 Star - 247 & Scout) Has offers from Cornell, Columbia, Drake, Valpo, USD & SDSU

Understand what you are saying, but when looking at recruits I think we need to look at them from the recruits perspective. Very easy to look at our program, through our Kelly Green Glasses. SDSU: Strong history, several playoffs, tough conference, IPF, Stadium Upgrades UND: Strong history, no playoffs (D1), tough conference, IPF, Nice Stadium (Program that appears on the rise, but still has only had 1 strong season in the past several years) I just think that some kids are ok jumping into a program that may be on the verge of success, while others want to go somewhere that is already a little more established in making and competing in the postseason. I absolutely think UND will be there next year and for seasons to come, but a recruit may not be as sure. I think we can all empathize with that viewpoint, just based on our hockey team. There was just an article talking about how Coltyn Sanderson passed on other offers, because he wanted to go to a winning program and have a chance to win a championship. Not all that different from how someone may look at their football options.
-
Agreed, I fully unerstand that from a sports fan's standpoint it sucks to lose recruits. Especially recruits that everyone is excited about. Have to remember that for these players and their families there is much more at stake. Proximity, Education, Etc. Can't blame any kid for fully weighing his options. I recently accepted a new job, but am still waiting to hear back from a few other companies. If another company comes back with a much better job, and a much better offer, naturally I will consider and likely take it. Point being, these kids need to look out for their best interests. Once they do come here, then I expect them to be fully committed. I'd prefer to not have a guy come here, redshirt, show a ton of potential, then leave because the school or program just wasn't for him. Better than he make that decision early.

I assume this tweet is from his HS, so they seem to think he is going to SDSU. Hope alot of this information is wrong, I'd really be happy to see this kid in Grand Forks. MSHS Activities@MSHSactivities Alex Cloyd will be continuing his education & playing football for South Dakota State University next year. Way to Go Alex! @GoJacksSDSU

Minneapolis area - The game will be on cable on Fox College Sports Pacific. Not sure of the channel, I think it is 173 or 174 for me.
-
On that note, do we have any new on potential new recruits? I know there was a CB or S from Georgia that was recently offered, but it doesn't sound like he is going to make a visit. Not sure what the potential will be there. Is that a scenario where we just called up and offered, or did we/will we send a coach down there to visit in person and make the offer?
-
Cloyd just appeared to run better routes and looked really smooth catching the ball, then turning up field. Not saying Pinke won't be able to do that; just that I was impressed with Cloyd. Also, not sure what the difference was in the competition they were playing on their highlight videos. Anyway, lets go Pinke
-
Hope you're correct, I really don't know much a out Pinke, I just remember I saw quite a bit of Cloyd's Hudl tape. Hopefully Bubba has another recruit in place to take this guys spot. It would be nice to keep some of this offensive tools though. However, I think we'll still be find. Getting the "right" players, who can buy into Bubba's system is just as important as finding elite talent.
-
Yeah, I think Cloyd is going to be a stud. He already has good size, will only get bigger, and looks a receiver in his highlights. I think he'll put up some nice numbers.
-
Interesting ... I hope they are solid grey uniforms. I think it would be nice to break it up a bit. Grey helmets, white or green jersey, grey pants would look pretty sharp. Regardless, I think it'll be a pretty cool change. Definitely like the helmets.
-
I really like that gray helmet

Anyone know what the likelihood is of flipping this kid from Army? Certainly seem positive that he is at least making a visit here this weekend, even if he is committed elsewhere.
-
Interesting that Chinn would choose to go to a school that is going through some big changes with the head coach, but it seems like there are two big factors that may have affected his decision. Location. Coaching (Rodgers). Location probably being the biggest one, to be closer to home. Certainly can't blame a kid for wanting to be closer to home. Can't blame him for wanting to play for someone whom he has developed a rapport with either. Best of luck to the kid (unless he is playing the Sioux). Sure seemed like a classy kid to put a note out thanking UND and Bubba. As someone else said, next kid up. One player doesn't change UND's future.
-
Major bummer. i was really excited about that kid too. Any idea where he is going to play? I wonder if he just wanted to go somewhere closer to home.
-
Definitely agree with that. Grady was definitely exceptional from a size and physicality standpoint. I wasn't sure how we are there in terms of depth though.
-
Good to know, and while I know he is still committed, I'll feel better on signing day. Bubba and his staff have done a nice job again and hopefully we don't lose anyone late.

Obviously, our run game was great this past year with Santiago and Oliveira. Add Norberg (maybe a move back to LB?), Nevermann and Gordon to the mix and we should be really deep at RB. So with the run game in tact, how do we see our passing game developing. Obviously Keaton is the guy for us, barring any injuries; and I think he proved just how deserving he is of that job in the last few games of the season. He was really solid coming back from injury. We lose Cerriteno, but keep Clive who really showed his worth late in the season. If he can get a little stronger and stay healthy, he could be a huge factor in the pass game. Seibel has been pretty steady for us, and while I don't think you are ever going to see really big numbers from him, he'll still be a steady player on the field. Stanley and Dulin are guys I am the most interested in. Stanley did well and is certainly a big kid. Dulin has been pretty hyped up on these message boards, hopefully we can see strong production there. I'm also really interested to see if Toivenen gets in the mix this year or redshirts. I hope to see Fiedler get more in the mix, and I'll be interested to see if they pull Cloyd's redshirt. Regardless, I definitely think we will have an improved passing game this year. So does anyone have any insight on how many of these OL will be redshirting? I assume that with some of the departures we have seen that we might have to pull a redshirt or two. Aside from OL, who else could we see get a RS pulled (I know it is early and we need to see how these guys do in camp) Toivenen? Holm? Helgren? Hunt? Whoever plays, and Whoever redshirts, I hope ALL of these guys plan to be in Grand Forks for the whole summer. I think that is huge for kids to start acclimating to the college environment, to really gel with their teammates, and to get their workouts in.

I'm glad to see Cloyd on the list. I know there were some FCS schools that offered him, and I believe he had given a soft verbal, as he was still looking at some FBS schools. Definitely a guy that I would like to see us keep.
-
Do we have any idea of which recruits should be on campus this weekend?
-
Just looking through the Wiki, and saw Cale Garrett's name on the list of offers. Per his twitter, it looks like he has committed to Navy a little while back. Not sure if we ever had a shot with him or not.

agreed.
