  1. Thanks, Shepperd
  2. Weak penalty on Sioux.
  3. Talk about a great start!!
  4. I think it depends on whom you ask. Some people give rave reviews & others think it's a piece of crap.
  5. Pre-game just started & the clarity is just like last week--great.
  6. Appreciate it.
  7. Any idea what time this game starts? Believed USCHO in the past & wound up missing 30 minutes.
  8. She's a lot easier to understand than NDH, for sure. It sounds like she's willing to put up with any & all inconveniences as long as she & her husband can still see hockey games. No matter the stipulation or price. In other words, don't question, just follow. She could probably give you a better explanation. I don't have the same temperament. Although I'm only 36, I never thought I'd see the day when they would start regulating fan behavior above & beyond what's necessary at sporting events. Sports is one of the last remaining outlets in which men can express themselves & their passions in a communal setting without recrimination. I can't stand & yell, "That's a bunch of B.S.!" at: work or I'll get fired; church because that's not the time or place; home because my wife will call the police & I'll be booked for spousal abuse. the grocery store because I'll be asked to leave or get arrested for disorderly conduct. my in-laws or they'll take me out of their will. My point is that men have so many societal checks on their behavior & that sports is one of the last places they can express themselves without someone watching every word they say. How would we feel if we were told that we had to act at a sporting event just like we act at work? It wouldn't be fun anymore because the sport we were attending would seem just like work. "Here are the things you can say." "Here are the times you can say them." "Here are the times you can stand & cheer." "The jumbotron will cue appropriate clapping times which will be between whistles & during t.v. timeouts." Oy vay. Sports is one of the greatest release valves for a man's mental health (better than sex, imo) & to put that release valve in control of an administration who's 30, 40 years past their prime college days is pure folly. Someone here asked a while back that to imitate what the Farce did, i.o.w. use their creative expressions in lieu of vulgarity & swearing, would be a great idea. What happened to the Farce anyway? Were they disbanded because they ran out of creative ideas or because the administration got fed up because they weren't following status quo? I think it was the latter. If so, shows you how much the administration valued creative ideas from probably the most comical, ingenious student group ever. If Farce Poobah reads this maybe he can shed some light on it. If men are forced to act like puppets or mimes at sporting events, their aggressions may be be released in other areas of their lives & maybe in less healthy manners. (NOTE: I'm not advocating anarchy & chaos at sporting events)
  9. You're a funny guy, Marty. It doesn't sound like you pull any punches & your express purpose for visiting this thread was to come on here & rip a Gopher fan. When you realized this wasn't possible, you were disappointed & decided to leave.
  10. Or a guy in a Sioux shirt kissing a girl in a Gopher shirt. Eeew...Sorry 'bout that. Laying down with barn animals seems more appealing.
  11. The pressure's in your corner, according to Blais. A snippet from Todd D. Milewski's weekly WCHA piece on USCHO: "It's maybe the first time all year that we've gone in as an underdog," North Dakota coach Dean Blais told The Associated Press. "Being first wears on you. It means getting the other team's best performance." Ah, the classic Blais psyching of the opponent. This isn't the first time the Sioux coach has tried to put all the pressure in the other team's corner. But he does have a point, and he should know. It was an event for most of the season when the top-ranked and WCHA-leading Sioux came to town. Now, with the MacNaughton Cup in the building and waiting to be presented to the Bulldogs if they wrap things up, there is a ton of pressure on UMD. The eyes of the WCHA, and of a good portion of the college hockey world, are on the DECC this weekend to see if the upstart (can we still call them that?) Bulldogs can hold off the challenge of sure-to-be-charging UND."
  12. Thank goodness I'm not the only one who didn't understand that. Maybe that post was alcohol-induced.
  13. Oh stop it, silly! (ultra meterosexual tone of voice) I guess we shouldn't be too surprised by anything that happens in a place called Dinkytown. Don't they have this street sign there?
  14. The only negative for Moorhead that I can think of is that blowing someone away so badly doesn't prepare them adequately for the tougher playoff games down the road. Example: If UND played Concordia College of Moorhead on Friday night & 24 hours later had to play Boston College, my guess is it would really take the Sioux out of their rhythm & not properly prepare them for someone much tougher. It's not good for the losing team & it's definitely not good for the winning team: no moral victories, lessons learned, skills honed, etc. on either side. Unless the winning side has a bunch of sadists & the losing team are full of masochists, I don't see the point of such a game.
  15. Misery loves company so here I am True, smoggy, I don't know how many "G'DAMN ITS!!" I've yelled after nearly burning my hands on my steering wheel. My car battery also melted last summer & it was still fairly new. Temps go up & so do tempers. And what's up with room temperatures constantly being 10-15 degrees warmer than the outside air tempature?! It's not just the appliances & the extra human activity that raise these temps--the houses around here seem to store heat year-round like a convection oven. End of rant.
  16. Geez, I think the French put up a bigger fight against the Germans. I don't know how getting routed like this would be considered a character-building experience. Would have been fun to listen to the coach's post-game speech & the spin he used to make the kids feel better. Or, he could have told them they sucked & told them they're a disgrace to the game & school
  17. ESPN's show Outside the Lines did a segment on fan behavior last night but I didn't get to see the entire show. There was a good balance of opinions from both the pro & anti camps. They covered mostly rowdy behavior at college roundball games & even though I don't agree with restrictive-language policies at sporting events I understand the other side's viewpoint better now.
  18. Look at the bigger picture, there are usually some hot chicks prancing around as bridesmaids. You can also do the train dance & make a complete a$$ out of yourself
  19. Nice play on words. Don't think you intended it that way but clever nonetheless.
  20. You da man, Ed..I mean, Pat
  21. Good point. If I were Blais I would compile a list of all Sioux players who left early & had subsequent mediocre careers or were career minor leaguers & flash it in any player's face who thought about cutting out early. Zach after junior year: "Coach, I'm gonna make the leap." Blais: Dangles B. Lundbohm's professional stats sheet in his face. Greene after sophomore year: "Edmonton wants me so see-ya." Blais: Again, dangles stats sheet in his face but this time it's Roche's. Players' eyes get pretty big when they're kings of the game in college & I think showing results of past players who had similar aspirations but fell short might be a good ploy. Not for Blais to manipulate players so he can continue to have a successful program, but to show them a little reality & to make them think about their decisions for their own benefits so they don't act prematurely.
  22. Man, F-M has really grown since I was last there 14 years ago. It mentioned in the article that NDSU is the engine that drives Fargo, so why can't UND spur similar growth? You'd think their aerospace center, REA, etc. would spur a lot faster growth than it is currently achieving. UND is the premiere learning institution in the state & it doesn't appear they're luring businesses like they should be. Maybe I'm mistaken. PCM, Sicatoka or anyone else have a good theory on this? Now I know what PCM & sprig do on their days off Actually, that sounds a lot like me Damn right & don't they dare forget it. Good/free advertising for our pride & joy. You'd think that out-of-state employers would realize there's an educated, intelligent workforce waiting to be tapped in N.D. & that lower corporate taxes could..uh, forgot..they're outsourcing all our jobs to China, India & other 3rd World countries or flying in foreigners on high tech visas. That's the joy of having corporate America run our immigration policy. Never mind. Good article, thx for sharing it.
