I don't know. I think the Cup belongs to the team that wins the SC championship series regardless of who it is or who is on the team. I hate the Avs but when Bourque and gang won it, I was alright with it because they worked hard and deserved it the most. One person doesn't make a team.

Did I not go into the game rooting for Maine? Rooted for Notre Dame, they lost. Rooted for Miami, they lost. Rooted for UND, they lost, rooted for UMD, they lost. Rooted for UW, they lost, Michigan and Harvard, both lost. BC, lost. I rooted for Maine...... LOST! Next year I promise to root against UND so that they'll win the NC. And from now on, "Eastern Powerhouse" will only be a label ESPN puts on the HEA flavor of the month. Reality and ratings are two different things in this case.

I wonder if he actually knows what pi-r-squared really is. Perhaps some pies made in a square tin pan?

I couldn't agree more. Dahl isn't a BAD coach, he just coaches incorrectly. He'd be much better as a football coach because I think he was even trained in that, and there is less games to be played allowing his strategies still to be fresh late in the season. Hargrove of the Indians was fired because he couldn't get the Indians to win. Dahl should be fired because he can't get the team to stop swooning. And he's more atuned to being a comedian with his Dahl-isms than anything else. Saigo is a well-meaning idiot and the AD is a moron. Other than that, SCSU is doing just fine athletically.

Maybe Leetch and Panzer should get together with Parise and cry about it! Uh, DISHMan, before you jump all over us, the good majority of us already thought Junior would win the award. There are only a few who think otherwise. The point is that we would have liked to see Zach take home the award, but it didn't happen. Junior was very deserving of the award and he took it home and rightfully so.

We need to get Puck Swami here to give us insight for the NC game.

Careful, your GPA may drop to 1.0 or less if you say that too much.

The draft order was released today. If the opt in rule changes, I could see Stafford being drafted by LA #11 overall. If not, and Stafford's stock does fall in the draft, I couldn't see him falling lower than mid second round. And if so, he'd be the steal of the draft. Stafford is a talented power forward. A guy with size and scoring ability. That's VERY attractive in the NHL. I know Detroit could use someone like Stafford.

I had Maine in the NC game... against the Sioux. though. I had DU not getting by Miami.

You could imagine how small the student section would be if it was shrunk to that few.

If HB did, I'd be VERY surprised. HB was the coach of MN for a while.

I don't know about you, but with the way Kupchella has been treating students, it is no wonder why Roger Thomas is against the Blue Key's idea. Not many would give a dime to the fundraiser. A SPORTS trophy being converted into a fundraiser prop will do several things: 1) Obliterate and demean the lineage and history of the trophy itself. It's like turning the Heismann Trophy into an all male version of the Miss Universe beauty pagent award. 2) Only those who dislike or don't care about sports would buy into the concept. Those traditonalists who know what the Nickel was forged to do wouldn't buy into it at all. 3) In today's world, purses are becoming tighter and tighter. $50 of nickels is not worthy of a small novelty trophy let alone the nickel trophy. 4) There is no sense of competition in a fundraiser. It's who can raise the most money for some charitable organization. It's not the edge of your seat, gripping, smack throwing, pride developing event like the annual football game. I really do believe that this whole deal is to try to get the nickel back to NDSU because both sides believe that the nickel is theirs rightfully and only UND has the legitamite claim (being that they won the last UND vs NDSU football game). I am not sure, but I would think some UND organization would be doing something similar if NDSU had won it as well. There is too much hate between NDSU and UND. Maybe the end of the rivalry will cool heads a little bit so that, by the time UND goes D-IAA, we may be a little more level headed going into resuming the competition. Optimistic, sure, but one can hope.

precisely. Junior deserved the award. Miller, though a solid goaltender, didn't deserve the award. For all of Miller's hype, he's sure a solid NHL goaltender too. I think DiPietro is outplaying him. There aren't a lot of NHL goaltenders out there who are less impressive than Miller has been this year for Buffalo. There have been some, but not all.

Thanks. Can't believe Hale got called for fighting. All he did was stand there being held back by a ref while Scott beat on him. I guess I didn't count the fights as majors. I was thinking about Smaby's and spearing et. al.

Uh, I'm a Sioux student Season ticket holder... or used to be. I am just as vehement for the Sioux as most of us here are. However, Zach lost for similar reasons why our defensive corps didn't get any recognition (among other things). Zach had hype behind him. Junior did not. Zach did not score as much as his potential foretold last year. Junior had no expectations and came out of nowhere to lead the nation in scoring. Zach's only "feel good" side was the WJC experience. Junior nearly drowned, came from a program that has largely been down and out since the 80s and lead them to now a FF berth. When it comes down to it, Junior winning the award is not surprising. If Zach stayed another year, perhaps he'd actually win it. Now, we'll have to hope that Bochenski has another year like this next year. And as for the academic seniority in awards, having a senior win the award is status quo. Yes, Hrkac won it as a sophomore, but those occurrances are very rare. Heismann goes to seniors 99 percent of the time. White wasn't the best player up for it this year but he won it because he came back from two serious injuries to lead OK to the promised land. When you think of it, so did Junior.
-
Really? I heard the Hobey was a lot like the Heismann. If what I said is true, then Bochenski could win it if he has another good year next year. He's done nothing but score his entire Sioux career thus far.
-
We've gone from expecting Junior to win to hating him for winning it. Fascinating.

Thanx MNS No, TC. I highly doubt the Sioux would sweep the awards. As much as I think Greene and Jones deserve recognition, I don't think they would have taken Ballard and Caldwell's place. Those teams favor offensive defesnemen. Greene certainly isn't in that category. Neither really is Jones, but only because of how the pairings are run. I think Jones could be an offensive dman with practice. But he is more of a defensive dman as well.
-
Didn't see Canady get called for a major this year at all. Maybe I'm mistaken. But he does get a question from me. Were there any majors handed out to Sioux players this season?
-
They should invent an award that could be given to the AHL player who exemplifies the best player who will probably never get a shot at the next level. Then, for as long as Karl and Curtis are in the AHL, it'll be a battle between them for the award!
-
Comon you guys! B2B's only reason for saying that was to get a rise out of you. If Murray was on BSU, he wouldn't care. Since Murray is a Sioux, of course he'll side with USCHO because he hates the Sioux. He's transparent. So what?
-
Isn't Draught a type or style of serving beer? If so, that can't all be bad! And as for Schwabe- Don't know if UND recruited him at all. He's a small player who is a little "chippy" so to speak. I like who we have. Schwabe probably wouldn't have been able to crack above the fourth line anyway. And Greyeagle: It's spelled like piglatin I think. Unklesbay

I root for UND, they lose. I root for UMD, they lose. I root for BC, they lose. GO MAINE! Personally, I can't stand either BC or Maine, but if ESPN supports Maine, then that's all I need to know to root for their competitors. Just watch up to the NC game. Denver will get mentioned in passing, but Maine will have all this feed on them from ESPN. Oh wow. Yippeee. Wow. Who cares. I probably won't watch the game. But GO MAINE. May my curse find you crying in Orono for whatever.

I'm not so sure that GOPHER fans were happy to see him leave. But I'd say no one outside of the Twin Cities shed many tears. If player's attitudes mattered more than stats, then Caldwell would never have gotten any awards. Ballard wouldn't either. Taffe's attitude was irrlelvent.
