THis is heartwarming to hear. And yes, I'm REALLY REALLY happy to hear good things about Smaby and Radke. Especially Radke.
-
Great pics! I noticed that JPar has a different mask now.

Glad for you. Mine still is crap. I can't get anything out of it. I'll just take the people's word on it here.

Well, I thought we were going into the season with a defense that was young and inexperienced and that was UND's short fall. So far, UND's shortfall is Dataflix and Audio feed related.
-
Did something happen? Audio gave out.
-
Wow Audio is bad. It sounds like the guy is swallowing the mic. Radke penalized for crosschecking.

Forgot about that. McFeely is also a radio show host. Maybe he does this for listenership or ratings? Get people fired up so that they can call him up and embarrass themselves on the radio for his own amusement? Maybe he truly is an idiot who feels left out because no one, NDSU nor UND, asked him for his opinion when decisions were being made.

And to think Palko was a preseason Heisman candidate... Pittsburgh has really tanked. Good work Rutgers, nevertheless!

Was Virg Foss ever this anti-Minnesota for hockey? I think McFeely is just venting because we turned them away a few years back to end the rivalry. He feels that we should go D-IAA to prove his point: That DI and titles matchups are nothing more than a pissing match between the two schools and that's what should be fostered. I'll explain. UND wins DI national championships (7) in hockey. NDSU gets jealous. NDSU boosters start pushing a downtown arena to help facilitate a supposed move for NDSU to go DI in hockey. Arena and movement rejected. They then decide, sans conference, to go D-IAA so that they can have DI bragging rights. This, is a pissing match. Now their fans come on here every now and again bragging "Well at least we're DI in ALL sports" and "Our football team rules!" (when they can't find competitive DIAA programs willing to play them save one or two games a season). This is the next step of a pissing match: the throwing down of the gloves to dare UND to follow NDSU for the sole sake of following NDSU and not allowing them to percievedly "one up" UND. Meanwhile UND is tearing it up in football and did well in hockey yet again. UND may have the "comfortable" choice in remaining DII, but we don't see what NDSU is going through to be what we want and we don't really wish to make the jump at this time. McFeely is mourning the loss of the pissing match between the two major ND schools.

If you still don't understand why we might recruit at GRR, then it's obvious to me that you DON'T understand the talent part. The school doesn't matter when you are recruiting talented players. It could happen that the player under Lennon's gaze could possess a talent that you don't see or are not willing to see (I know people that dislike schools so much they refuse outright to admit that there could possibly be any talent on those teams they dislike).

Actually I disagree. I like the idea of pairing a rookie with experience. It could be a great match up. Normally, if Spirko played, he'd be on the first line, but he's evidentally injured, or if he's hurting, he shouldn't play tommorrow anyways.
-
It is possible he could be signed to a contract with another AHL team or the ECHL, UHL, CHL, or Europe if he still wants to play.
-
I agree. He outlasted Greene even!!! However, it wasn't unexpected either.

Read on another thread that #51 is a training camp number. When the season begins he'll have another number. Which one is up to what's available and what Zach wants.
-
Oy. Less than a minute left got me hoping that it was the 4th quarter. I didn't think this would be a blow out. But the end is still a long way off.
-
So the score is 16-7? Less than a minute left in the 2nd quarter or 4th quarter?
-
I have never been impressed with Dataflix. Good technology but it is inconsistant and UND's version seems to be mismanaged from the onset.

If we have to change the nickname I think we should open it up to bids, sending representatives out to all the non-Sioux tribes around the area and pitch their name with the Sioux. We can use the FSU and Seminole tribes as an example and revitalize the school anew. This way we can try to keep the logo and we can dump the name "Fighting Sioux." Sure, there is a chance that the Chippewa, Ojibwe, Seminoles, or whomever we approach will reject it. If they do, and our NCAA appeals and/or court case has been lost, we should investigate other avenues. And, if there is interest by non-SIoux Native American tribes out there, we should work extra hard with them to grant them the type of respect and Honor that we all percieved the Fighting Sioux nickname to have. Then we change the name and let the Ganje's, GKs, and all move onto another topic. Invariably, it will be the same topic, but they won't have any clout as the issue won't be related to the Sioux.
-
I wonder what our response would have been if he had taken the approach of asking our understanding instead of throwing degradation and the term racist around. We'll never know.
-
Sammy Sioux? That's dumb. I'm glad they changed it. It doesn't even sound good!
