UMN, UW, and DU will all sweep. EASILY. UAA and UMD won't put up much. Maybe UAA will take a game. I don't know if UMD will garner a LEAD in a game much less win one (sorry RWTD and UMDDogz). MTU is intriguing. They played well enough on Friday but couldn't crack the Sioux. I'm thinking that they could take a game from UW, but it's unlikely unless Elliott is still out of sync. If MTU does take the series, look for UW to still make the NCAAs, but they will do so quietly and leave just as quickly. CC vs. SCSU will be an entertaining series. In all seriousness, SCSU has nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking CC any way they can. CC has everything to lose, as if they lose the series, it is quite possible they fall out of the NCAAs. I think I'll take CC because lately SCSU's offense hasn't shown up. UND vs MSUM: UND in 3. I know I'll be nail biting the entire series. I'd be VERY surprised if we swept. I guess I don't see how we could miss the NCAAs provided we make the Final 5.

Maybe so, but do we really want to turn the playoffs into something like the NBA playoffs or the NCAA DI bball tourney, where they are basically 64 more games? I mean, why play the season if you are going to have 30+ more games called "playoffs?" As much as it has hurt the Sioux, or Minny, or whatever team you root for, it HAS to remain one game series just to maintain the level of intensity and interest. NBA Playoffs = SNOOZEFEST

And since you like the Sioux, I think it is an even swap.

True, Finley has improved a lot over the year and did look good vs. MN, but I thought there was always some part of the game missing from him up until recently. He is now much more physical, has a really good knack for positioning (even though he does get beat still), and can recover VERY well (Uh, catching up to Conner from behind when IMO Conner is one of the fastest players in the WCHA).

I haven't voted because I didn't think it would be fair to pass judgement based solely on what I've read on this site, the standings, and the box scores. I didn't get a chance to make it to any women's games this season (I did last season tho). Personally, I think Women's hockey in general is extremely young as a major collegiate sport. Yeah, despite UMD, UMN, and the ivy league schools' success in the sport, I don't see it as nearly being as developed as it will be in the future. So I guess I just don't have that kind of expectation for the UND women's team. I think we need to go out there and be competitive. I don't believe we have a real shot at anything notorious just yet. I'll give it time.

From what I understand, I don't think it's going to matter in the future. The NCAA wants to hold its regionals at neutral playing sites. If they are truly dedicated to this, then the REA wouldn't get any more regionals anyways. Therefore, it really doesn't matter how many tickets are sold. Or am I mistaken and what I am thinking of only relates to Frozen Fours?

Lee got credit for the goal on both collegehockeystats.com and USCHO... so unless neither of them got the word, Lee scored the goal. From the replay I saw at the Ralph, it didn't look like there was any doubt Lee scored. I swear it went off of Lee's stick blade into the net.

Siouxman- Regarding Lee, I wonder if this is the communication issues we've been seeing off and on all season long? Early in the season, opposing players would do or say something and they get the puck passed to them... or perhaps our players didn't communicate well? Lee doesn't necessarily have a "propensity" to turn over the puck, but he has made a few mistakes in what you state. I don't know, but if he really had a propensity to turn over the puck, I think Hakstol would have done something. Finley is FINALLY showing more confidence on the ice. This is GREAT news because he's got an amazing reach that can be used to help the Sioux defensively. He's still got a lot of work to do but it's nice to see that he's skating well. As for Fabian's replacement... I think we'll see Marvin on Friday and Miller on Saturday. Both will be on the fourth line. Whether it is Kozek or Watkins that moves up to the third line is anyone's guess. I say put Kozek on the third line. He adds offense to the checking line and doesn't sacrifice the grit.

Oh I agree, but when the poster comes back and apologizes for those posts and edits them accordingly, do we banish or flame him anyways? If it was a mistake, it was a mistake. Point it out and, if the poster corrects it and apologizes, move on. Right now, we're spiraling towards another flame war thread. There are so many on this board right now, I don't think we need another.

And if Haas! is telling the truth... that someone did use his handle to post without his permission? Who's going to be sorry? What people here don't realize is that you can delete posts. It appears as though Haas! has editted the content away (or maybe I didn't scroll back far enough). Maybe he should have deleted it and then issued a retraction on his previous posts. I don't know. He deserves criticism but he also deserves to be listened to if he comes forward to state that what he initially said was wrong.

YOu're optimistic, but lately the media hasn't been too keen on getting both sides of the story or slants stories to favor the side of the aisle the station's stance is towards. I hope they get both sides, but I'm not expecting them to.

I thought we split vs. Harvard? To prevent a double post: Just to get my facts straight, we MUST sweep MSUM to get into the tourney right? Or maybe we just need to get to the Final 5 swweep or not?

I've always considered a "home game" as any game in which one team doesn't have to travel very far in order to play the game. According to mapquest, the X is 13 minutes from the Mariucci. THat isn't very neutral to me. It doesn't necessarily mean crowd make up or what color jerseys you wear. It all has to do with travel to me.

Do you think Kozek is a Spiewak-type player?
-
Slap Shot- I'm not going to argue Oshie vs. Kessel vs. Toews. I have already stated that Kessel will win the award. It's not all that important to me. What I will argue is your statement that UMN is just as young as UND. I haven't measured up the average age, but I sincerely doubt the accuracy of that statement. How many freshmen do you dress each night? I don't know if there are any teams in the Nation other than BC and UMD that dress more freshmen. Therefore, I would argue that UND is infact much younger than UMN. I also think it would be nice if UND could afford to only dress one freshman defenseman a night like UMN does.
-
It will obviously be whomever plays best during practice. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hak alternate them this next weekend vs. MSUM hoping that one stands out above the other. Either way they will more than likely be on the fourth line. I'd say move Kozek up to the third line. He was hitting everything in sight last night. If not, they could always move Watkins back to the third line.

There is no rationalizing with GK. This is a guy who, earlier on in this "fight" decided that the only way to "teach" us is to be just as racist as he feels we are being towards "his" people. When one responds to alleged racism with actual racism makes his arguments unworthy of being listened to. Just do what I do and ignore him. It is an unfortunate thing that CBS doesn't want both sides of the issue. But that's just how the media is these days.
-
So you're saying that we want to face SCSU because even if MSUM goes on to lose to CC it will still help us? I'm not so sure if either situation helps the Sioux. Any way MSUM loses is bad for the Sioux, unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah, but it's mostly been smack. Jim had to close the thread earlier about that column because there were like... 5 posts on the subject at hand and what... 30 posts of smack?

What'd she do to deserve ice cream! I mean, that's like... $5 for 3 spoonfuls at the REA
-
You mean diving? No, diving is legal in the WCHA.

Doesn't work. I've cued it now twice, once with the second post in this entire thread indirectly. But yeah, this needs to end. -

Heh. I was right! It only took what... 5 posts for it to become a flame thread? Kudos to the administrator for putting the kabosh on it.... However, I'm betting that, within the next 5 days, this thread will have the red X on it. -

Cue Informant to come in and start throwing insults our way... 10 to 1 this thread inevitably becomes yet another flame thread.
