Not a slam dunk, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

I knew the Flyers had a UND goaltender at one point... Darren Jensen played for them too.

I believe you're right as far as the leadership is concerned, but.... Greg's can't finish. Frattin may be just getting used to the new team but he's not finishing... NO ONE is finishing. Goon hates it when I blame the forwards, but that's what the problem is. Hakstol, with 1 minute left last night, drew up a play for the boys that would put them in a great position to score. IT WORKED. What happened? Frattin hit the skate of Scrivens and the game ended. If Frattin elevated his shot even 6 inches, that would have tied the game. FINISHING. It's where we are struggling. Leadership is where we're missing Genoway the most, imo.

Yes there has been at least one Sioux on the Flyers.... Murray Baron being one of them. Same with the Colorado Avalanche...unless you consider them truly the same as Quebec. I can't find a single NHL team that a former Sioux hasn't played at least 1 game for.... except for Colorado. Hrkac played for Quebec...

Not sure about that. He's pretty solid as far as I am concerned.

We could go back to Anaheim and have a overused cliche standoff with the Rally Monkey (of Angels fame).

I don't really think there is a classless time after a home game when a stick salute is done. Sure, it makes sense after a sweep, but some schools do it to pay tribute to the fans rather than to signify a win. At least that was what I was told. Yeah, you'd look silly doing it after a loss or after being swept at home, but...

I agree with 82. I dont like our chances if the BTHC comes into being. It would be very similar to UND moving to the ECACHL or worse, the AHA.

I don't like the way he handles himself. The way he pushed Green Bay around... tearful retirement...oh wait, I'm back but even before that, using the media to jerk everyone around. Yeah, I don't like him for that. It has nothing to do with his on field performances. It also doesn't help that the media has the world's biggest man crush on him. He'd better not get too close to a hockey arena. NHL Network and Sidney Crosby might get jealous.

We could always recruit all the top tier players in Minnesota and be as good as UMN the past few yea... oh wait. In Hak I trust. Remember: It's not the BEST players that wins games, it is the RIGHT players.

Meaningless. Junior Seau did the same thing with Miami, "retired" and then unretired to join the Patriots. Favre WILL retire this offseason regardless. Whether he unretires and rejoins the Vikings after training camp or unretires and joins a different team is another thing entirely. Since he is an attention whore and can undeniably still play, I think he should make a run at QBing as many teams as he can before becoming too old.

Wait a minute.... You say Ed was kidding and then switch to Republican bashing? Huh? Ed's more flip floppish than John Kerry. Early on, he was a dyed in the wool Republican, then he was liberal, then he came clean: He's anyone's bitch provided he gets attention. He's got a liberal radio talk show now, so he's liberal. Ed did this just for ratings. If an NA called him on it, he'd flip flop or, more likely, just play word games to avoid the issue entirely like every politician regardless of political party affiliation does when confronting the prospect of being wrong in public. Hey, ask Hillary Clinton sometime about her visit to Iraq and the snipers. You get the picture. He's an idiot and so is Rush because the hardest part of life as a radio talk show host is selling the truth without bias. If Rush or Ed does it, they'll lose viewers and be taken off the air. The TRUTH doesn't sell. That's why Fox News is so biased to the conservative side and CNN left of center and MSNBC is practically Chinese communist. CNN was, in its hayday of Walter Cronkite and the guy before him (I can't remember his name), relatively unbiased because the people behind the desk provoked trust and faithfulness of their audience. They'll tune in and believe them so there is no need to embellish or twist the truth. There was no need to play to ratings because they were the prime act on TV. Now, that's no longer the case. They can't sell the truth, so they sell an ANGLE on the truth. So now, the media is seen as a farcical abomination by those who seek the truth and Big Brother by the ignorant and apathetic masses that can't be bothered to find the truth for themselves. Now people are turning to the internet to find the truth and that, quite honestly, is frightening because, though the truth is more likely found on the internet, how do we know people are getting there and not to some whackjob calling for the death of our troops and the deification of Barack Obama?

Fixed your post Either way, any bets on whether or not when he unretires again, he'll be back with the Vikings? My prediction is this: I won't predict which team he'll end up on (probably not with the Vikings again) but he retires until about the same time next year as he unretired to sign with the Vikings this year. If the Vikings were smart, they'd try to re-sign him to a 1 year contract with a player option for a second year with a provision stating that training camp is voluntary. Yeah, it's primadona-esque, but it might give Childress a few more years. If not, Childress is cooked as AP isn't as dominant as everyone thought and the Vikings have NADA behind Favre at QB.

Since I was once told that European Elite leagues pay more than the AHL, I'm guessing that the wages in Bina's new league can beat the ECHL's wages. The only question I have is why didn't he jump after the ECHL All Star game and not before?

Let's not forget that they are Minnesota hockey broadcsters, so their bias is know. They're not some third party that hitches on to a team the like such as Big10 or ESPN. How sad. The more national the program is...the more bias.... But that's how ESPN rolls!

For those who predicted a fair sided commentating job done by a former UW player and a former Minnesota player.... gosh.... If I would have read that before I tuned in, I wouldn't have expected anything but a UMN love fest.

Did you ever have him?

Hmm... most good GMs tend to draft replacement QBs for standouts 3-5 years before they retire for a number of reasons. Those that wait are typically sorry. Can anyone say San Francisco? Besides, when the talk is Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers will be #1 that draft year and, when Alex goes #1, Aaron slips down the draft until the Packers are up, what do you expect Ted to do? Say "Well get one in 4 or 5 years?" Let's not forget the "I'm retired" "No wait!" routine that was basically the routine for Favre for what, the past 4 years? Thompson was wise to draft Rodgers. #1 talent falling into your lap doesn't happen too often and when it does, you jump for joy. (Hey, in a hockey related story: Remember when Zach Parise fell to 17? Lou Lamorello practically sprinted to the stage to draft Zach. This was practically the same thing only with Rodgers and Green Bay). Favre was a great QB with Green Bay, but seriously, the soap opera that is Brett Favre far eclipses the flak he got for his INTs. Sure the Pack could have used him in some ways, but... 1. Favre wouldn't have helped Crosby kick a field goal that would have decided the game anyways early on in the game. 2. Favre wouldn't have been able to play D to prevent Arizone from doing practically anything it wanted anyways. So the argument is irrelevant. -

One thing I learned today: No, the Pack didn't choke (as earlier pointed out) but... Check this out: Which team had the #2 defense in the NFC? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. THE PACKERS. Charles Woodson is the defender of the year apparently. That makes no difference in the argument other than the fact that I like DBs that go for the tackle rather than the strip... and I actually raved about him while he played for Michigan. So, no, it wasn't a choke. I'd call it more of an: EPIC FAIL -
Kangas' stats vs. UND surprises me, quite frankly...in a way. I've watched most of those games (I do recall missing at least one series due to travel) and I didn't think Kangas was all that bad. However, Kangas is a lot like many of the goaltenders in NCAA these days, imo: If you don't play D in front of him, he's not going to win any games for you. He'll keep them close for as long as he can, but that's about it. Despite the down years, I still maintain Kangas is one of UMN's better players. Unfortunately, UMN has brought in one disaster at D after another (See Fischer, David and Taylor, Jake and Schack, Brian and so on.), cannot seem to put together a confident team D, and seems to completely lose focus when being out muscled (physical teams like Denver and UND come to mind). You know... I really feel that, if UMN moved to a European format, they'd continuously be a top 3 team. However, a European team in a North American hockey format just ends up beaten up and beaten.

I'm curious about drug addicts and prison. They obviously aren't allowed drugs in prison so... as painful and hard a trip it may seem, wouldn't this solve the problem? No, prison is by no means easy and going through it PLUS withdrawal will be super tough but... My friend's younger brother was a drug addict (though not coke) who spent about a year in prison and came out clean. He's drug free and has held a job ever since. Up to that point the longest he had kept a job was 6 months. IIRC it's been 3 or 4 years now probably longer. Don't know if the same would work for Dubay but... rehab doesn't seem to be working.

I wouldn't go as far as DaveK, but seriously, Rodgers isn't exactly scot-free in all of this. Face it: Rodgers doesn't overthrow Jennings and Jennings is gone. TOUCHDOWN GAME OVER. However, he overthrows him. Then he doesn't recognize that the play is dead and broken. Instead of simply scrambling (which he couldn't do as he was too deep in the collapsed pocket) or tucking the ball and taking the sack (which was the smart thing to do despite it bringing up 4th down), he tried to make something out of nothing but couldn't make a snap decision and got caught in limbo. Adams (who is as much a sucky CB as one can manage) gets lucky and causes a fumble which happens to take a few lucky bounces to Danby without hitting the turf and he runs in. Rodgers doesn't hand the ball off to the Cardinals and there is luck involved but still... NEVERTHELESS: I think the main problem was their pass defense.... because, like in the Pittsburgh game, THEY DID NOT SHOW UP AT ALL. They couldnt stop anything or anyone at all. That "psycho" defense is good at drawing teams to false start but... if they get the play off cleanly, it seemed like they were toast. SO... Rodgers is half off the hook for, after the punt, Arizona simply would have marched down the field anyways and won it. It didn't matter. The Cards would have won anyways. GO VIKINGS! BEAT THE PANSIES IN SILVER AND BLUE! -
Is Matson the only Gopher injury? Where does he lie in the scheme of things? It's arguably not the greatest of losses since the Gophers have played well as of late (soft opponents or not, a win is a win).

Maybe there's an obligation to take one has been on every Olympic team just for auld lang syne? I mean, Chelios made the last one...

I've found that it doesn't really matter where you go. The more fans of both rival teams mixing together PLUS the consumption of alcohol EQUALS something stupid is bound to happen.
