  1. If Irmen can make it to the NHL, even if it is for a cup of coffee, I think Lucia can too. Unfortunately for Tony, he's on a team that isn't desperate enough to need it.
  2. I agree. I was wondering if this suspension was simply Daddy Dumbarse telling sonnyboy that it should have been a misconduct and, once again, Daddy swoops in to make things right. Again, am I against the suspension? No. Am I against the manner in which it was presented (not assessed during the game and even not being the case, given without any explanation)? Yes.
  3. Heh. I suppose you could say Federov and Yzerman were big stars, but gosh, I can't recall the media hype behind those two players being half of what Crosby and Ovechkin get. Maybe that's my red and white glasses on. I did ask my father who remembers watching the Blackhawks back in the late 50s to the late 60s and he said he's never seen such hype for the likes of Bobby Orr, the Espositos, Gordie Howe, etc. Funny... As for the hit, you'd think that was true, but it's not. OVechkin, like Cooke, is a repeat offender. However, Cooke used a loophole in the rulebook to avoid suspension. Ovechkin's hit was just downright illegal. His repeat offense should have garnered him more than a 2 game suspension, but it didn't. His last suspension was 2 games, though. Fortunately for him, Campbell is on board with the Bettman hype machine and limited it to 2 games. Let me ask you this, Jim, honestly. Take Ovechkin's name off of the hit on Campbell and replace it with Bradley. How many games would he be suspended?
  4. I'm just curious.... if "Awesome" can't spell his name in his post, how does he log into this site? Thank God for "Remember this Computer" option on the login, eh?
  5. I agree. When Sheparse and McLoeser discover that they've been wrong all along, this is true. It's a reactionary stance because to be proactive in accountability would mean the demise of their buddy buddy ole boy network. Why? Because buddies would be fired... and Shepherd would have to act like an administrator and not as Grampa Greggie to the officials. They are incometent buffoons who can't realize that the answer to their woes is two things: 1. Accountability of all involved from Administrators to schools to officials to players 2. The rulebook as written and approved by the NCAA (or whoever) and approved by the WCHA. If officials are held accountable, then they are forced to better themselves or face involuntary retirement (in other words termination). Same goes for the head of officials. If the rulebook is ignored, things revert back to #1 and termination could occur. The job of Shepherd isn't to be friends with anyone he's in charge of. He has to be absolutely positively willing to do whatever it takes, from making a positive example of good on ice performance, to canning someone (EVEN IF IT IS HIS OWN BLOOD), to make the WCHA the top collegiate hockey organization in the US. He's failed. Miserably. Time to cut the cord.
  6. Cool beans. I like the idea of the NOW of the league. With this marketing strategy, they will HAVE to show Caps and Pens games otherwise NO ONE WILL WATCH. No Sid "the kid?" No Alexander "the Great?" Who are these guys? *CLICK* I don't need to root for them. They'll do just fine. I don't need to root for the Caps or Pens. They'll do just fine. I want to root for the LEAGUE because the LEAGUE has more to it than just these two players, I don't care how good they are. As for the rest, meh. I don't care if you're tired of it. I'm entitled to my opinion and I'm voicing it. Have a nice day.
  7. If Gleason is hurt, I wouldn't play him for the Final 5 anyways. I find myself at a loss though. Davidson has played very well. But Fienhage hasn't played poorly either. I can't help but wonder if Davidson was put in over Fienhage due to, perhaps, some sort of offensive strategy? Davidson comes in as a converted forward and may be able to spark something offensively? But then again, Gleason was his partner so that should have done it for him? I dunno. I guess, without having seen practice, I'm not at all sure how Fienhage worked (or lack thereof) his way out of playing.
  8. lucky? Word on the streets it's a broken collarbone. Out for season. Ovechchrist suspended 2 games. Repeat offenders get the same offense in the NHL (if they get suspended). Good thing too. Ovechchrist can now plan. When they clinch, if they play another playoff team, he can now run the guy to ensure the player doesn't haunt them in the playoffs. Colin Campbell... One vowel away from the part of the GI tract he most represents.
  9. Frattin's having a terrible period. I believe he's going for holding the stick.
  10. No. This was definitely an illegal hit. But not what TC Transplant thinks. If Frattin didn't leave his feet, it would have been legal. But he left his feet to make the hit. The penalty was legit. However, Helgeson and Kangas should have been penalized. Helgeson was. Kangas was not.
  11. Wondering that myself. So far, Shep and *unt are calling an ok game. Cepis hasn't dove yet so we'll see.
  12. Heh. I got the same impression. The Gophers only had one really good scoring chance and they potted it. The Sioux have had several and only potted one. We're 20 minutes in and I'm surprised Cepis didn't dive. He had several opportunities. That's why he'll always be second to Garrett Roe. If Roe sees an opportunity, he's face first on the ice. Cepis still hesitates at times with his diving.
  13. This might've been a key to why we didn't fare well tonight.
  14. I don't know. It seemed like the stick was there when VV was already off balance. It's not like the Cepis stick your leg out and fly through the air like his first dive. It was amusing to listen to Scanlan and Sweeney invent ways to defend the calls of Cepis diving. The second time they bantered around the topic a little bit but that's it. It reminded me a lot of the UW broadcasters stating how Robbie Earl fell so easy because of how he skates on his toes a lot.
  15. No. Garret Roe is still the crown. If Cepis was serious about usurping Earl, he'd've dove last night too. It's just tough because when Earl was in the league, there really was only him diving consistently with a few players here and there diving as well. Now, we have Roe and Cepis... doubly agravating. By the way, VV got "tripped" or "hooked" in the game and slid into the boards. The Gopher player barely touched his skates. It was a dive. And the Sioux went on the PP. So, is Cepis a cheap player for diving? I don't like him for doing so, but VV proved my point all along: Diving is only illegal if the officials are willing to call it. They aren't, so it's in play. We should've dove more. Lamoreaux should've dove in the first period when he was high sticked. VV should've rolled on the ice when he was tripped with less than 2 minutes left in the game. Cepis WILL dive tomorrow too. EXPECT IT.
  16. We could start chanting: "WHAT'S THAT SME-ELL!" When we lose we can say the team went belly up. Bad officiating? "Something fishy happened on the ice." On a positive note: "YOU'VE GOT FISH SLAPPED!" after a fight or a big rout.
  17. What about if I have no comment? Like I said very early on, the Chapmans were very nice to the Jewish Community in Fargo. Legit or not, we've struggled for years. I don't like what he did to NDSU and perhaps, by extension, the state of ND, but I'm not ready to go any further than that.
  18. That's the story I heard too.
  19. Siskel gave it two thumbs up.
  20. Isn't there written evidence that the Islanders want Gregoire to stick around one more year? maybe the hockeyfuture write up? Not sure. Then again, who knows with the Islanders.
  21. That's a little hard to believe. I do expect to have Shepturd in attendance for at least two of the games. I also expect Derek Shepherd to get our series which is good considering the alternative would be Todd "Angry at the World" Anderson or worse Don "Kill em all No call" Adam. All I can say again is this: We need to play like we did on Friday night 2nd and 3rd periods. If we play like we did tonight and in the first period of Friday's game against Minny, well... siouxfan77 won't have to worry about the WCHA taking action. We'll put them in ourselves.
  22. Uh.... Might be time to consider getting one. They're not all that expensive and they're AWESOME! I'd recommend a Canon, Nikon, or any camera that doesn't feature proprietary media (such as xD for Olympus or Fuji can't remember, or Memory Stick ala Sony).
  23. We play like we did on Friday, we'll handle the Gophers. We play like we did tonight... well... let's not, shall we? I don't want to feel embarrassed.
  24. I know a win is a win, but if anyone wants to know what a lucky win looks like: Here ya go.
  25. GREGOIRE SHOOTS! GUESS WHAT! YEAH!!!!
