Frattin should've been on the PP the entire time. He's the only one who knew that shooting was how you score goals. Half of the time they didn't even play.
-
Some signs of life, but overall, fundamentals not there. I'm lovin' what Kristo brings. That kid knows what is needed to get back into the game. He reminds me of Nick Fuher on the point of the powerplay. I seem to recall several times when it seemed like Nick was impatient and simply said "We're passing too much. I'm shooting." I love that. Kristo can be on point until he turns pro. brian- Actually, I was think they could work harder on getting shots to the glass. Maybe finish off the regular season with some shattered plexiglass. OH! And I LOVE how Sweeney says "JUST WIDE!!!" and "GREAT SAVE BY..."

ATTA BOY KRISTO! You can't score goals if you don't SHOOT THE PUCK
-
Looks like Tech knows what it is going to take to win the game. I hope UND figures it out soon. Time to shoot the puck. The boys really don't seem to care. Time to start caring.

Not if they transfer between seasons, IIRC. I know the Lammy twins don't lose any eligibility.

I agree. Especially on the powerplay. It's obvious that tonight will feature even up on penalties so we need to plan for it. When we get a Powerplay, SHOOT THE PUCK. We did alright in our first PP, Atrocious in our second (Blood got a shot attempt but that's about it), and we did ok in our third. We need to just get the puck to the net. MTU has the right idea. Got a seam? SHOOT. Not as bad as last night, but not good either. Hey, Darcy Zajac agrees with me. Perfect!

I actually haven't seen the Hangover.... well... more than an hour of it. I couldn't get through the trailor for the Big Lebowski.

Here's my first period impressions: 1. A few glimpses of goodness... Ben Blood, Kristo, and Malone shooting the puck on the power play. 2. 5 on 5 the Sioux playing Siouxper sucky. 3. Frattin should have a nice long rest as he got a nice CFB on Schooley (no call) and then hit another Tech guy pretty hard (good hit with a nice embellishment by the Techie). So, split the difference. 4. Eidsness has played well. Gleason has played NOT. 5. We outshot Tech 10-8 but numbers are confusing. Tech has outplayed Sioux 5 to 2. 6. Our powerplay... When's Hextall going to be back? I love the fact that he shoots the puck... oh wait.. he is back... Uh....... 3 keys to 2nd Period: First: Play smart, fundamental hockey. Shore up the passing, especially out of the zone. If they are going to play aggressive, catch them and make em pay. Second: SHOOT THE PUCK Third: Special Teams.

I see what you're saying but it is Tech (sorry MEg). I'd say give Dell a shot on Saturday. he's shown some good stuff even if he has been inconsistent.

Who knows for sure? But seriously, if Geoffrion said anything different, what would we all be saying? If Geoffrion said nothing, perhaps it would go away, but the wondering would continue for a long while. Also, opinions could go any way and words could be put in Blake's mouth. If Blake spoke out saying Marvin was a bad guy or whatever, then Blake isn't taking the high road and Blake's rep takes a hit. The way Blake spoke it, really effectively ends the off the ice banter until they next face each other. Then Blake will have his helmet fall off and accidentally take a few steps toward Marvin and get a 1 game suspension.

I'm not nearly as sarcastic as you are, but I can't wait to have a President with an 100% approval rating. It will happen the same day that everyone who enters the lottery wins it, GM decides that they're going to go out of business and give away all their cars to the first X many people who shows up until they're all gone, Fort KNox decides that Yu-gi-oh cards are worth more than gold and raids the local card shop dropping bars of gold for every card they can get their hand on, and so on. So, yeah, that'll be any day now.

BLASPHEMY!!! How DARE you say Crosby was a liability! He's a GOD to that dingleberry that sits to Roenick's left. And you're darn right I'm jaded against Crosby for the irrational reason of the fact that the media is so darn enamored with him. I figure Sid has enough fans. I'll see the forest instead of just one tree, tall and mighty or not. Toews has been the best skater for Canada... well, him and Iginla (yeah, I know about Heatley but Iginla is a better player than Heatley) I'm surprised at how mediocre Brodeur has been. Rather disappointing. Finland will defeat the Czechs. I just want to say this: Finland has good skaters, mediocre offense, great goaltending, and beautiful divers. I loved the tribute Kipprusoff gave to Czech hockey great Dominick Hasek that got Elias sent to the box. Martin Havlat is the biggest disappointment for the Czechs. It's rather unfortunate that Tomas Vokoun goes home empty handed. That guy was amazing. Goes to show that gold nuggets in a pile of dung still is just a nugget of corn in a pile of crap. That is the Czech team....the Swiss team... the German team... All the same. I really liked the play of Hiller, Greiss, and Vokoun.

You're saying canada is the underdog save for the hype? I dunno. Hard to say for sure. I kind of find it hard to think of them anything worse than a silver medal team. The Russians are the only ones that have as much on paper talent (and on ice talent) as the Canadians. What bothers me the most is that the hype is such at times that you'd think Crosby has scored or set up every single score the Canadians have ever scored since he laced up his skates. That the only reason Canada loses is because they didn't play Crosby 20 minutes a period. I get that he's a great player, but one of the best things about hockey, imo, is that it is a TEAM sport. If I wanted to get into an individual sport on ice, I'd get into speed skating or luge
-
This coming from a man (Don Cherry not Blackheart) that argues that there is no such thing as a "Non" All Star when it comes to Canada and well, hockey.... well maybe if they don't go Major Juniors they could be overlooked.
-
I guess I'm just jealous of Sidney Crosby. I mean, he's protected (I was STUNNED the Olympic officials called him for high sticking. STUNNED) and has the ability to make even the best commentators (Doc Emerick for example) cream their shorts just by stepping on the ice. He's the Brett Favre of hockey right now... and his career isn't even HOF yet. It will be, for sure, but not yet. The media has crowned him with a crown that is suspect. And I can't stand it. I guess that's why I'm so cynical around Jesus Crosby.
-
No. The whole reason why Toews has been so good has been Sidney Crosby. The mere presence of Sid in the rink sets the opposing team shaking. This enables Toews to do exactly what he wants to do. If Canada could time it so that every shot on goal Toews attempts is timed to match the second Crosby steps onto the ice, Toews would have scored something like 12 goals by himself by now. Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Yes, Toews has been extremely effective. And yes, the Team Canada NBC announcers can suck it. Crosby has been good, but not the best player on the ice...even for Team Canada.
-
Nah. He'd be railing the IOC for cheating. No way could an "inferior" team like the US beat Canada.
-
We played a really good game tonight. The media wasn't even as biased as I thought. However, we got REALLLLLLY lucky with the officiating. In other words, there were some questionable noncalls that would have gone against us. Oh well. The downshot of all of this is that it wasn't the medal round and like hell will Canada be this "easy" then.
-
It was UND's fault though.
-
This would HAVE to be Craig. Brenden doesn't seem to be the feisty type. The way Craig plays, even though his temper got the better of him earlier this season, you'd think he'd be a Pio or a Sioux.
-
Anyone know why Hjelle isn't starting tonight?
-
Both of them or would it be like it is now? Team Canada in every broadcast regardless of whether or not they are actually playing and then throw in Ovechchrist to make it seem like they're not completely fixated like a 6 year old girl hoping to get picked to meet the Jonas Brothers.
-
I yelled at the TV because it was bad enough that Canada won, but that Jesus Crosby got the game winner... Ugh. It kills me to see Toews in the Canada jersey. Such a great kid on such an arrogant team. OH! Did NBC and Team Canada hire the NBC broadcasters? I swear to god they passed out when Crosby scored the game winner and just about jumped the Swiss player that got him in the 3rd. Yeah, it was a legit high sticking penalty missed but did you see the great embellishment Crosby did? He got a bloody nose and he laid on the ice like he just got McSorley'd. Should've been 4 on 4 but even Olympic officials know better than to call Jesus Crosby for anything. But hey, let's look at it away from hockey and just look at the awards ceremony. NBC seems to think "who cares about bronze and silver. GOLD BABY! And if it happens to be Canada, pump it for all its worth!" The bias is incredible. Yeah, Canada is the host country but... well, to be fair, can anyone answer this question for me: When the last winter olympics was in the US, was NBC or whoever biased to the US? If so, then my point still stands anyways: Hire a foreign service to do the commentating. BBC should do the commentating for these Olympic games. That keeps pro-Canada and pro-US commentators off the mic. OBJECTIVITY is key. Celebrate the Gold, for sure, but give credit to those who were runner up because there were a boat load of people who would do ANYTHING to be on that podium, even if it is "just a bronze medal."

They lost tonight to Switzerland to go to 0-3. Not gonna do anything in Curling this year.
