  1. Nice that we're actually in the SCSU zone. Now let's pepper the net and get it going again.
  2. Yup.
  3. Big 3rd period coming up. UND played like crap for all but the last 2 minutes or so of the 2nd period. Nice to see VV getting his first goal. It would be nicer to see us shoot more on whatever few PP ops we get. We just need to keep our sticks on the ice and our passes less bouncy and we'll be alright. Oh yeah, and Phil, bro, let's let them earn their goals, ok? No weak assed goals like SCSU's second. Seriously.
  4. I don't know. I kindof get knownothing's point. You know, I could argue that some arbitrary guy on GPR deserved it... let's say, the guy who wears #7. I could come up with the best case imaginable and I might even convince the lot of you (most if not all of you know more about high school hockey than I, I admit) that I'm right and, you know what? It won't mean a damn thing. Why? Because message board posters and hockey fans don't choose Mr. Hockey. The Coaches did. So, the coaches chose Herbal whether you liked him or not. From reading this board, Herbal has two things going against him in the eyes of the typical poster here: 1. He plays for a Western team. The West sucks, therefore noone from the West deserves an individual award for excellence over someone in the East, regardless of the Eastern team the guy plays for (In other words, a GFRR fan will favor a Fargo South or GF Central guy before someone in the West gets the award). 2. He's a good player on a bad team and a bad team means everything (I guess) when it comes to who fans think deserves an award given to an INDIVIDUAL. Good thing no one told this to me way back when. My fondest baseball memory was Andre Dawson winning NL's MVP award despite being on a last place team. From what I understand of what I've read here, if you don't finish in the top 3, you shouldn't be considered. Come to think of it, Grafton finished 4th or 5th this year and their coach got the coach of the year award. I'm sure that was bogus as well. Come to think of it, after reading this thread, I'm now even happier Herbal got the Mr. Hockey award.
  5. ha ha ha.
  6. You mean a competant administrator wouldn't have let him get into that situation.
  7. I also believe that they will either be wearing the green or black jerseys with the term "SIOUX" on the jersey and the beautiful logo on the front. Just a guess. Oh, and each jersey will be personalized having their own numbers and last name on the back!
  8. Travis Roache never played for the Sioux. Travis Roche did, though. Anyways, I'm not saying Genoway is a poor defenseman either. I just think Genoway has as much talent at the forward position as he does at the defensive position. It seems like Radke's just learning the forward position as he goes along. He's not doing a bad job of it, but it seems Genoway can play both defense and forward well while it is still apparent to me that Radke is a defenseman that has turned forward. Just my take.
  9. Which harbors problems at the forward position for next year then. I like Radke, but I kinda like Genoway at forward over Radke....
  10. According to Hockeydb.com, Iwabuchi wore the #1 jersey... Stankhoven (sp?) wore #30. Hockeydb has been known to be wrong occasionally in the past, though.
  11. I kinda figured out something was kindof off with Campion for a while. When I first saw Campion officiate a Sioux game, I noticed that he more often than not decided not to call a questionable play by either team therefore, all the penalties he did call were indeed penalties. Sure, those he decided not to call could have been argued for either way, but I thought he did really well. Then he got injured and his game went off a little. Then this year he was just plain awful. Now I know why. And I understand. My condolences to Jon and his family and friends.
  12. Both were seniors?
  13. Iwabuchi Well, either Whistler or I are right on this one. Probably Whistler. I was only 2 when this game was played.
  14. Couldn't be. It would add a redeeming quality to Walsh Hall
  15. He'll play as much as Commodore played there. My guess anyways. You're right about Sutter and college kids. It doesn't matter who you are. I just wish Hale would have gotten traded to a better team. Yeah, I'll admit it, Hale would fit in well with the Wild or the Stars. They don't seem to care much about offense.
  16. Maybe not, but you can't beat them if you don't play them.
  17. Apparently, the answer is yes if you read some of the posts around here. Even though Frattin might be an '08 recruit, do you think Hak and Crew are getting impatient with Nash?
  18. Actually, the Blues traded Tkachuk and Guerin. They did not trade away any appreciable defensive talent. Which means that Erik Johnson could be 50/50 on staying (I'd argue EJ's gone after this year, but anyways) but there is now a huge offensive void for the Blues. I really think St. Louis will put the fire under Oshie to sign.
  19. Seriously, dude, chill. Who gives a damn about the Gophers? It's a silly poll. It means nothing. Quit driving yourself to drinking over 4 stupid votes.
  20. Volpei is with SCSU. And Weslosky looks to be solid for the Huskies. Sure, he's only played 5 games but in those 5 games he's looked better than Connelly or O'Connell (CC) in their first 5 games.
  21. Was Pappa Shepherd in attendance on Saturday? I heard McLeod wasn't. He said he'd be in Minneapolis on Saturday during TH's Friday interview with him. Anderson is a bad ref. Don't need to make an argument there. There's none to be had. But if Radke was trying to pick a fight, I have mixed emotions. First, I LOVE the fact that Radke and Kaip have been sticking up for teammates all season long. I'll never criticise him for that. HOWEVER, the last thing the Sioux need is to lose a player to suspension right now. We lost Watkins on Friday (unless he was back on Saturday and even if he was, I don't think he could be at 100%). Hunter Bishop left the Sioux. That leaves Foyt and Forney as 100% of our depth. Foyt, thankfully, can play both forward and defense and so can Genoway. But Forney is a forward and that's it that may still be having injury woes. Radke needs to get under control. Kaip did. And now people know why I respect Rylan so much.
  22. I wonder what would happen if Duncan and Kozek were put on a line together with a good center that can pass like VV? Of course, I wouldn't experiment with that right now, but next season, that would be worth investigating.
  23. Don't get to close to the river, pal.
  24. Similar to Goon, I think the DOT's dominance really has clouded the opinions of the other lines. I don't think the other lines are that bad, just the DOT line is that good. Kozek is a mystery to me and I'm quite concerned about him. Why can't he score? I've seen his wrist shot and it's unbelievable. Is he somehow too concerned with the other things on the ice? Unsure of when to shoot and when to pass? I don't know! Honestly, the other parts of his game are pretty solid, but for the life of me I can't figure out why his wrist shot isn't as successful as it could be. Porter is fast and has a quick shot, but Goon's right, he's more of a grinder. Seems that Watkins is becoming a Porter clone as well. I'm not concerned with Forney or Vandevelde. They're just freshmen and could just need more time to develop (though VV's play hasn't exactly been poor). When Oshie and Toews leave, Duncan and Kozek are going to be key members of the offense. I'm not worried about Duncan, but I do sure hope that Kozek can step up.
