Looking at the playoff bracket is all the more reason that their needs to be a sense of urgency for our football program. There are 4 teams in the field that I would lay 10-14 points on UND and 2-3 others that would be a pick-em. It doesn't take much to be a top 15 team in the FCS....we need to get their quckly and then worry about getting to the top 8-10 level which is another big jump.

NDSU did get the easiest potential quarterfinal game as they should as the #1 seed. But the play-in games and where they are in the bracket is a joke. You have SDSU and E. Illinois playing each other and Villanova and Stony Brook playing each other with NDSU and Montana State getting the winners meanwhile you have Coastal Carolina playing Bethune Cookman and Colgate playing Wagner to get to Old Dominion and Eastern Washington. Those 4 teams(C. Carolina, Bethune Cookman, Wagner, and Colgate) are teams UND should schedule to get easy D1 wins and get your 2nd and 3rd string reps....so not only does NDSU potentially get the best of those 8 teams to play they also get a conference foe as well....meanwhile the CAA is protected in that none of their teams would have to meet until the semi-finals while the MVC has a potential 2nd round matchup and Cal Poly if they get by SHSU would have Montana St. in the quarters. So if you realisticly look at the 8 teams playing the playin games you have #1 playing #4 and #2 playing #3 while the bottome 4 teams play each other.(3 were autobids that if they weren't would not be in and somehow Coastal Carolina got a bid over probably 8 or 9 teams that would boatrace them.

With just over 50 seconds left and a 3rd and less than a yard. You get a first down which stops the clock. You have enough time to run a few more plays and pick up another first down or even 2 and kick a chipshot field goal to win it......it ain't rocket science.

You take that shot 100% of the time with 10 minutes left.

The last time I saw game management that poor, Coach Nickerson wouldn't let Stefan Djordjevic on the team bus.

How the fu%& do u not use your 6-6 qb to sneak it on 3rd let alone 4th.....unreal

It was before that. So it would have been when Blais was coach. It was probably around 98-2000. Seem to recall it was probably a period of time from early in 1 season until late in the next. I am pretty sure hennessey has brought it up before.

It wasn't an official suspension as obviously the league isn't going to annnounce that for public consumption, but there was a period of about 1 1/2-2 years(maybe longer) where Adam was not "allowed"...err scheduled to ref games involving UND....I want to say it was toward the end of the Blais tenure maybe leading into the start of Hakstol taking over.

A few years ago he was "suspended" from working UND games after he was $h!tfaced in Sugars Lounge and was babbling to everyone that he hated the Sioux and had no problem screwing them over....not sure why that "suspension" would ever be lifted?

Couldn't remember exactly when we scored the "goal". There was a whistle for icing 5 or 10 seconds into the game and the next whistle came at 9:18 left in the period. Not sure how it works with penalties but I believe if they had decided to count the "goal" the game gets reset to that point in the game. I think it was the Vermont/Air Force game a couple years ago in the NCAA tourney where Vermont had scored and the puck went through the net and then the teams played for about 10 minutes before the next whistle. The announcers knew that once play was stopped by a whistle that the game was going to be over and since the game was in overtime they were talking about how crazy it would have been if Air Force scored and had the celebration that would follow and then find out they lost...pretty sure they hit 2 pipes during that time as well. My curiosity was peaked so I had to do a little research..Thanks USCHO. It was actually in the 2nd overtime with a Frozen Four bid on the line. It was just under 6 minutes later for the whistle.

True. Plus they would have replayed 7 or 8 minutes as well.

20 years....it reminds me of a secretary my dad had who had been with the company for 30 years and some people said it must be great to have somone with 30 years of experience and he said well that is one way to look at it, but we look at it as she has 1 year of experience 30 times.
-
welp. it would have been 2-0

Good call and Schmaltz knew it which is why he didn't even bother going to the box.

No.

Interesting timing to be moving from ND to Minnesota....I live in Fargo and have quite a few friends in Moorhead that are considering moving across the river to ND.

Favorite road trip of the year for me normally! Heading to Florida over thanksgiving so probably gonna skip it this year for first time in probably 10 years.

Doesn't take a hall of fame coach to notice it. Shyiak made similar moves last week and again our top 2 lines who are getting most of the icetime at that point in the game did not adjust.

I was just happy that #3 was alright. Thought they were gonna need the gurney. Must be a real tough kid to survive a vicious hit like that after he fired a shot after the whistle to be able to muster up incredible intestinal fortitutude and not miss a shift.... :glare: . His game is very reminiscent of Robbie Earl

It's alright. Maturi wasn't able to defend the hypocrisy of it either.
-
Because it is/was a policy that was selectively used.

So UND's cross country teams and swim teams along with Florida State's and Central Michigan's basketball teams are in the Big 10?
-
The name thing is a crutch, not a real reason. Not arguing about anything else in this discusion but the name issue is a joke. Minnesota has had this so called policy in place even before the NCAA got involved, while scheduling Florida State and Central Michigan in basketball and even our cross country and swimming teams have competed in events hosted by Minnesota. They use the name excuse when it is convenient.

Also. I believe if he is medically cleared to play that takes away the medical red shirt opportunity? I think we went through the same thing in hockey with Genoway a couple years ago.
