  1. I like the logo......but it would be an "expensive" logo for most apparel---expensive to produce and that makes it expensive to buy.
  2. Another way to look at it would be that 72% of the people didn't bother to vote since their selection was eliminated pre-vote.
  3. Wait. What? I thought they were all Team Nodak now? it really is hard to keep track
  4. Agree. I said when the Big 10 was formed for hockey that if in the next 4-5 years it doesn't result in the addition of several additional programs it will have been terrible for all of college .................................as opposed to those who declared immediately that it wrecked college hockey.
  5. 75% of the people could say that about any of the selections.
  6. I know you don't know much about college hockey so I'll help you out. There are 6 conferences in college hockey. The Big 10 was the 5th best conference of these 6 last season and while this season has to play out the best they could probably hope for would be to move past the WCHA for 4th.
  7. Well, these Vermont announcers would go with Nodak Nodaks if we had the name in place.
  8. Well they are actually shortening North Dakota to Nodak and/or reading the abbreviation off the scoreboard rather than using it as a nickname.
  9. Actually the reason Kelley didn't put North Dakota back on the ballot is because anyone with any awareness of reality knows that it would have easily won. I don't have a big problem with it not being on the ballot just wish they would have had the stones to announce this decision months before they did and explained the reasoning.....but anyone who thinks North Dakota wouldn't have won is being disingenuous at best or is completely tuned out to the surrounding world at worst in which case you may be qualified to be a President of a University(see Kelley, Robert and Bresciani, Dean)
  10. Stanford Cardinal Harvard Crimson Alabama Crimson Tide University of North Dakota Kelly
  11. I don't know if these numbers are as large as you think they are? For example. In the years leading up to UND losing the Fighting Sioux name, UND was receiving about $280,000/year from the sale of licensed apparel and gear. When it became apparent that the name was going away, these numbers jumped to $624,000(2011), $606,000(2012), and $520,000(2013). I would guess that in the first year of a new logo/name that UND could expect to maybe see $300,000 but after that I would imagine the money from licensing will drop down well below the $200,000/year mark. As a point of reference, another school just 70 miles away was receiving about $140,000/year from the sale of licensed apparel and gear until they had some incredible success on the football field and with a few of their other sports and spiked to $418,000 in 2013 and $488,000 in 2014.
  12. UND grinds out some yards and moves the ball to take a 16-10 lead into halftime. Montana sells out to stop the run in the second half daring us to throw the ball. Offense goes 3 and out 5 or 6 times and the defense wears down and Montana wins 27-16......stop me if you have heard this before. This is not a shot at our team or the job Bubba is doing......it is just where we are right now at this stage of a total rebuild.
  13. Am proud to say that this reference goes completely over my head.....have no idea what Hogwarts is.
  14. Well I have officially voted. I went with what I thought was the second best name available as the far and away best name is already in use in another form by our neighbors to the East.
  15. Well you could probably shut the average "terd" fan down pretty quickly. Just inquire as to the sexual proclivities of their mascot ........not that there's anything wrong with that.
  16. Maybe you should tell him to go to his own board.
  17. haven't you been paying attention? That is exactly how this works. If I don't want a new name chosen from these 5 it has to be that I want Fighting Sioux back and no name would ever be good enough for me even though that is completely inaccurate. People need to remember that message boards like this one are a tiny representation of the real world outside. I was back at homecoming and have been to all the football games and as some one who was in a house while in college and has remained pretty active in attending UND events(mostly sports) both home and away over the last 25 years or so I have had opportunity to meet and interact with many fellow alum and of the 150-200 I run into or see on a regular basis it is accurate to say that a good 90% of them were probably in favor of going forward with no name for now and of that 90% there are probably 2% who actually think that the Sioux name has a chance to return.
  18. Like I said. anyone who has taken a freshmen marketing class would have handled this better than President Kelley. The fact that there wasn't potential logos and branding and marketing plans when it got down to 10-12 names as absolutely backwards.
  19. I think this will happen " revisit the decision and perhaps decide it was time for a new nickname in 10 years." no matter which way this ends up. Bottom line is, of the 5 selections remaining there isn't one that is worthy of the University of North Dakota.
  20. I'll probably vote in the next day or to and I couldn't care less about the new name. Just want to make sure it's not Sun Dogs. But I certainly have no investment in a name that is going to be a short term solution because the permanent name solution whatever it was or is was not in the final 5.
  21. There administration has at times over the years tried and they received pretty major backlash.
  22. And even if it was still on the ballot those idiotic responses would still make no sense. How hard can it be to understand that if UND went by North Dakota that there wouldn't be a name.
  23. Still chant "Lets Go Warriors" at their basketball games. As far as apparel worn at games by their fans at games it is about 10% Golden Eagles gear with the remaining 90% split between Warrior gear and Marquette gear.....it's been 22 years. If you go to their bookstore site, 14 of the 120 most popular items have Golden Eagles on them with the rest being Marquette only. Even most students who have attended since 1994 when they changed their name refer to themselves as Warriors. And in my opinion I think the Fighting Sioux name had a lot more passion behind it than the Warrior name did.....or at the very least equal to it.
