Latest bracketology from USCHO:
Holy region of death in South Dakota. Any of those four teams could advance.

1. Boston College
8. Minnesota
9. Maine
16. Bemidji StateMaryland Heights, Mo.
2. Boston University
6. Denver
10. Providence

7. Quinnipiac
11. St. Cloud State
14. MichiganSpringfield, Mass.
4. Wisconsin
5. Michigan State

13. MassachusettsNot afraid of any of those teams. With that said, I'm guessing No. 14 will be an autobid.

Ok, I was wondering if game results were able to be manipulated/projected yet. I thought that was only available once the "You are the committee" feature was launched. Thanks, this is pretty awesome.
It's a lot of fun to play with. So glad I don't have to be running scenarios of if we'll get in

Hopefully "insurance" means one year rental ("1A" option) behind Hobie and Heil is ready to come in fall of '25.
That was my impression. I suppose if there's a guy out there that's younger, they wouldn't say no.

Nor old enough! We don't have any other option but to hit the portal if Persson leaves.
Yep. I like what we've seen with Hobie and he'll get his shot. The portal G would be insurance, for sure.

I'd assume Persson will stay for another year...he has one more year of eligibility remaining after this current season.
Persson and Hobie tandem for one more year.I was told recently that Persson is likely to sign a pro deal. Hobie would get a shot at the No. 1 spot, but we'd likely hit the portal for competition as Heil isn't ready yet

With some of the players coming in next year and the maturation of the current roster, next year could be A LOT of fun.

Fine by me. I like his game…plays his role well. Also, he only played a half year during his frosh season.
Next year's captain if Gaber goes, and I'm all for it.

It's playoff time, essentially. Our team is trying to win a conference title. Match their urgency.

I'm all for winning the big pasta bowl, but I mostly want us to win to keep a good spot in the Pairwise in hopes we can somehow eventually get the top seed and last change vs BC which may be needed to neutralize their all freshman line. Hopefully they lose the UNH this week, though we still have to do a job and get the wins.
Slow down, my friend. Control what we can control, right? The last bolded part is what matters this weekend.

Easy math here... If UND wins on Friday and St. Cloud loses to DU, the Penrose will be in Grand Forks on Saturday with an opportunity to be skated around the Ralph.
I'm assuming it's senior weekend, right?
Would be fun to see!

They have posted Duncan's final skate. A special moment his kids will remember forever.
It was so cool. Duncs was a helluva player, but he's a million times better as a human being. Deserves every bit of the praise he got

Fantastic stuff here for UND. Chiclets and Grinelli are a massive brand for hockey and this partnership is a big deal, IMO.

He's not. Was told if this was a playoff game he'd be in.

Those were Transfer Portal additions. When I hear "backfilling with over-agers", I think of settling for kids who have aged out of junior hockey and are still available because they aren't considered top recruits. That would mean fewer postseason trips and even fewer Frozen Four appearances. That is what we cannot afford to have happen.
I understand the trepidation that it could cause if that's how you hear it.

I don't bring it up because I believe it. I think it's hogwash. I bring it up ALL THE TIME because @scpa0305 keeps insisting that the B1G and the big media market schools out east are going to rule the College Hockey world and that UND and other similar programs will have to settle for "backfilling with over-agers" (that's a direct quote from sometime last season, I am not making it up). Go tell @scpa0305 that he is wrong, because I think he is too. I keep bringing it up because that erroneous notion needs to be challenged whenever and wherever it is propagated.
Anyway, you make good points. I am enjoying this season, especially after the past few seasons, which were not as much fun to watch. @krustyklown is right, I will not bring up the topic of championships as long as UND is alive in the postseason.
Overall, I do apologize for making this all about you because it's certainly not. I think what @scpa0305 has always discussed, from my understanding, is that UND will lose out on the market share with how college hockey is going. I can't disagree with that. When I hear "backfilling with over-agers" I kind of think that's a lot what we did this year with Britt, Pehrson, Pyke, Johannes, etc. (not shots at them.... they are all very, very good hockey players). UND still has the ability to recruit and that hasn't changed.
I think the bolded part is what bothers me the most. This team didn't get dropped from the NCAA tournament by losing two games to CC last week. We're so incredibly over reactive as a fanbase. I understand "fan" is short for fanatic, but my goodness

We are falling behind in the all-time NCAA title race. With the talent we have had over the past 20 years, we should have passed Michigan in total nattys by now. That has real world consequences for our program. The very notion of North Dakota devolving into a forgotten, also-ran program like both Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State have is nauseating to someone who has been following this team since I was 6 years old. Whatever changes come to the sport of college hockey, our program must adapt.
Man, you bring this up ALL THE TIME and it's just not founded in truth. Who else believes this? What proof do you have about this? UND continues to win games, continues to get into the tournament, continues to recruit great players, continues to put players in the pros. Yes, I understand it's about winning championships, but a team has to have those regular season wins to get to the tournament.
It's annoying that DU and UMD have won those titles. No doubt. Those two programs have found a way to have a four-game winning streak a couple times. That's quite literally what it takes to win a title and a team has to no only be very, very good to win those titles, but they also have to be very, very fortunate. That's the nature of the game and the nature of a one-game tournament format. Our standing as a program doesn't, nor should it, be diminished because we haven't been as fortunate in the tournament in recent years. Being a good to great team nearly every year has us in a position to remain where we are. Once you're in the tourney, it takes a lot to win it. UND didn't get it done in 20-21. Does a loss in 5OT mean that team couldn't have won the title? How about the 19-20 team that was lost to COVID? Both of those teams had what it takes to win. It's complete nonsense to think that because they didn't go on a four-game winning streak to end those seasons that our program is somehow diminished.

To the people saying that the tape is out on UND. Are you sure the teams UND will be playing down the stretch have the type of players(See Mberko) or dedication to this style of play? I don't see BU or Michigan dropping into a 1-4 trap no matter how successful it was in a couple series. CC was impressively efficient at it and they seem to have the full team buy in that it's what they will be doing exclusively. Pair that with a ridiculously good goalie and you have a scary team to play in the postseason. I'm telling myself this is just a bad matchup for UND, hopefully this coming weekend proves that out.
Alaska tried to do it to us, so did Miami. I definitely believe CC is a good team. I'm also not going to be afraid of CC is we have to play them again. Would I prefer to play them again, no, but I'm not afraid to play them. For 40 minutes on Saturday, this team played very well, but did not bury the puck. We've shown the ability to do so all season. CC is committed to their style of speed and structure, but UND did get to good areas for most of Saturday. Just didn't finish.

Has Mayotte done a better job with what he has compared to Berry doing what he's done with our talent? Then yes, Mayotte wins. And I'm still saying Berry has done a really good job and I still want him as our coach. But Mayotte is easily the NCHC coach of the year. I know you can't really admit that on a public forum but Mayotte has done an incredible job this season in the conference from a coaching standpoint with Berry being number 2.
Yeah, he's earned it

This seems like an appropriate time and place to ask this. And when I use the term "they," I mean to include myself, because we all seem to identify as ledgies at one time or another.
How can you tell when someone has actually jumped? Is there some kind of declaration or code phrase they use, or can you just tell? I mean, the ledge can be totally crowded one day and then have all the room in the world barely a week later.
Along those same lines, how do you recognize those who constantly climb off and back on again? Are there marks on their hands and knees, a look in their eyes; or is it in the words they use?
Lastly, is ledgie behavior the same behavior that makes us, as parents, become ugly at our kids' games?
Oh, and is there a ledgie hotline or a bar somewhere where we can work through our bouts of ledginess.
Ledgies lolol
