For those of you within the Twin Cities Comcast footprint, tonight's game will also be shown on Fox 9+ channel.  For southwestern suburbs, that's channel 807.  I'm guessing this will be the normal St Cloud junior varsity production and that Midco is picking up their feed.  That way you get to enjoy the soothing tones of Jim Rich and Pat "the rat" Michelletti cheering on the Huskies.

I actually don't mind Michelletti. Big time homer, but he typically gives UND it's deserved roses when applicable. The duo, however, really believe Clown is the favorite to win a national championship every season lol.

UND is 4-4-2 in the last 10 games against SCSU. Hopefully, they can change that streak this season.

IN 2021-22, UND was 3-1-1 against the Huskies.

Pretty good numbers by Riese Gaber. I wonder if Griffin Ness will play tonight?

After last season, a split, like the past 10 games, would be welcome. Man, we need to win tonight. Would be a confidence boost.

    I bet we'll see Ness.

I'd say the key is our weak side wing play in the d zone.  That guy can't get lost or we'll be hearing a lot of the go huskies wooo thing.

Nice to see some real, honest-to-god hockey talk, whether one agrees with it or not, instead of simplistic declarations of staff or player incompetence or generalized opinion that the program fails to meet expectations.  There are a lot of very knowledgeable hockey fans here, and it would be nice to hear more specifics.    Won't come from me, though--I'm not one of them.   Love the game, which is enough to be a fan but not enough to be an informed critic.

I'll give it a shot. I agree with Wilbur, this has been a bugaboo of ours a bit at times this year and with how quick St. Cloud seems to be, we'll see a lot of back cutting and players moving in with speed, so our back side wingers need to be responsible for the backdoor and cuts. Especially with the bigger ice at the Herb, we gotta stay responsible.

After last year had no visions of UND being this good in the first half of the season.  Still waiting for them to decide if they are going to be elite or just another good team that goes throught the normal ups and downs of a season.  Got my tickets to the Frozen Four along with 5 lifelong friends/UND grads so planning on them being there and cheering like crazy.

It's kind of weird, but we've lost one time in 2024 and it was in OT. Remove that three-game OT loss streak, UND is 15-2-1 with wins over Minnesota, DU, BU and Wisconsin.

I understand the four OT losses don't feel great, but I feel like we're almost ignoring what they've already done based on that three-game streak, and four OT losses.

    Just feels so weird.

Skating thru 4 opponents and expecting to still have the puck doesn't work at this level. This isn't MN high school or USHL. That is what can lead to turnovers and odd-man rushes the other way. He needs to pick his battles better.

He's done it several times this year and last. Again, not saying he doesn't need to become much more reliable defensively, but he has absolutely done this in his 1.5 years here. He's a gamebreaker

    Mentioning that:

2-1 game and under a minute with faceoff in defensive zone and they roll out ... Ben Strinden.

Because Strinden plays that kind of game well. Blake played plenty down the stretch on Saturday, too

I agree but he’s playing himself into a spot where he shouldn’t be on the ice in a later 1-goal game and should be mostly utilized when on the power play or when scraping our way back into a game. I was terrified with his line on the ice with a little over 2 mins to go because he hasn’t shown ability to change yet. If Blake hadn’t played last night or if he and Perron were switched on lines we night have gotten a shutout because yet again, one of his mistakes led to a goal.

I really do want him on our team, badly. But for having played 1.5 years, he should be better on both ends of the puck now. Bumping him to a line with Jammer and Johannes would still be enough fire to get him going but also give him 2 line mates who play the game the right way.

Danny Kristo didn't learn how to play in the defensive zone until his junior year. Suggesting Blake needs to have a lesser role essentially ignores his game breaking ability.

This isn't an excuse as I know for a fact that he's conscious of play defensively as the coaching staff is reminding him. Diminishing his role in any way, IMO, is not the right choice. He's gotta learn and learning comes with continual reps in big situations.

I know this will be unpopular, but again I’ll ask, does performance matter ultimately under Berry? How you handle goalies is no doubt delicate, but based on Hedquists performance the last two games, you would have thought he’d earn the net next Friday.

There's also something to be said about the level of play and experience. Hobie has three career starts against Alaska and Omaha. Persson has obviously seen more of NCHC play, against all teams in all situations. I'm not against a split and giving Hobie the shot, but I'm not close to saying Persson isn't our No. 1.

I wish they kept that as a stat. My hunch is UND leads (in a bad way) the nation in that category. It’s ridiculous.

I know you're kind of kidding here, but there's a 0% chance this is true.

This area is, crazy enough, an improvement from last year, but yes, it happens way too much.

Move on, get the win, and beat the Red Cows because frankly, UND is the better team.

Persson, with the rust shaken off, gets back to his early-season form, The D settles down, and the forwards continue to rip as they have the past three games, and UND walks

    6-1

Berg, Blake, Gaber, Jammer, Johannes x2

Boys need to figure it out starting tonight. If they would have played like crap that one thing. But the way they lost last night was tough. Tendy was very avg and the team D was brutal.

Spot on. It was so weird. We'd go through stretches just dominating that game and UNO didn't touch the puck for 4 minutes, then they'd come down the ice, we'd have a breakdown, and boom, back of the net. Offense looked very good last night. So many little silly mistakes on D. Luddy needs to get back to early-season form.

Information on Michael Emerson leaving for USHL.  Will he return to UND at a later date? How will his leaving impact the team?  Will the team be short a player on the allowed players?  Who likely will replace him?

Schlossy said he can return to UND, but likely won't. We'll be down one player, but we still have a full lineup. Could add a player, but I doubt we would.

Still salty about the morrow deal…and rizzo….and the guy that went to OSU.

Morrow, I totally get. Rizzo, he's the one who bailed! Such a weird situation.

Halliday's situation was weird, too. He was recruited as a true blue chippa, fell off the face of the earth during junior, and then became a very good hockey player at OSU.

If Zellers goes in the 2nd/3rd round, he has to come in the fall right?  Hopefully Berry learned his lesson on the Shattuck guys with Scott Morrow.  If he's ready, bring him in.

I’m next to certain, that Zellers and his advisors want him to play a year in the ushl. Taking more of a slower development path. It’s worked for him so far. He’s an April birthday so a bit young for a senior. No issues with that tbh

Totally agree, @scpa0305. I've heard he is planning for a year in junior.

    Morrow's "issue" wasn't his play.

  16. Central Scouting sent out their list today -- 7 recruits on it, which is awesome

No. 17 skater -- Sasha Boisvert
    No. 39 -- E.J. Emery
    No. 48 -- Will Zellers
    No. 102 -- Sam Laurila
    No. 130 -- Mac Swanson
    No. 137 -- Carson Pilgrim
No. 8 goalie -- Caleb Heil

Uncommitted: No. 204 skater - Bauer Berry
