  1. Well put, all around.
  2. I would say this is likely the case. Hard to say it's on the coach or the player, but I for one never thought Helly should be the guy. I still think Hobie can get there, but he wasn't ready this year. And with the crutch that is the portal, we can go find a good tendy if we're uneasy about the current one.
  3. Would you have made this bet at the beginning of the year? I won't take that bet simply because of the hole we've dug, unfortunately. I love the direction right now, but we have too many injuries to too many very good players for me to bet on it. I am still confident we can get there, but health will and absolutely does matter.
  4. I had this conversation with someone previously away from here and I understand the frustration of not having "our guy", but I don't truly understand why this matters. We recruit the portal goalies to come here.
  5. It's not a continual habit! Goodness, that's what I'm saying. With one outlier, the Canisius weekend, UND has beaten teams they should overwhelmingly more than they have not. When UND doesn't make the tournament, it's a full down season. Including conference play. You are right, agree to disagree.
  6. We won the dang games. I'm sorry, how can we judge accurately if choose feelings over facts? I disagree that the exhibitions set the tone for the whole year. They mean nothing other than getting legs hot. If this does happen, I am confident we'd get back to where we'd need to be, but I also just feel like he doesn't deserve to get fired.
  7. I'd argue our 18-17-2 record kept us out that year LOL. Pretty sure it was the now infamous Canisius weekend that truly was the nail in the coffin.
  8. Because it's an exhibition. It doesn't matter.
  9. RMU. They swept RMU. Auggie was an exhibition. So were the US Under 18 games.
  10. Uh, no. UND is 62-26-14 in non-con under Berry. I can go season by season, if you'd like. Some are certainly better than others, but he's had one true under .500 non-con team. No. See above.
  11. Three of those are exhibitions and one of those is a win. Bubs has over 200 wins. C'mon.
  12. Again, come with reasonable facts other than "regularly beat by far inferior programs" or that our teams are being "outcoached". UND is 206-104-33 overall under Bubs. What do Blais and Hak have to do with it? Poor regular season records? It's insane to think we get regularly beat by far inferior programs. Has it happened? Yes. Has it cost us tournament bids? One time, specifically yes. Is it a regular occurrence? Not even close. Dude, I am being civil. Don't bring nonsense in here like I'm a burner account. Come with real things to discuss. It's ok to have a different opinion, but saying things that have no merit brings nothing to the table.
  13. Like I said before, I just want some legit, well-thought out discussion of concepts like "lack of being prepared" or "poor game strategy". I certainly can admit that I've seen UND come out flat many times and perform that way. I've also seen the opposite more often than the latter. Kids come out and play like garbage because of many reasons. I'll never believe Bubs doesn't have his boys ready to play. UND doesn't recruit players that lack will or want. Lack of preparation makes no sense to me. Are any of us actually believing UND isn't preparing?
  14. Lucia was also being publicly criticized by NHL GMs during the end of his tenure. Bubs' current situation is absolutely nothing like this.
  15. Without a discussion of how a team is getting "outcoached", this is the stuff that holds no merit. I'm honestly not directly singling you out, I'm really not, but this has no basis in fact, it's just opinion. This belief is driven by the recent lack of success in NCAA. I get that. But I don't think I've ever heard a logical reasoning why Bubs lost any of the games we're griping that he's responsible for. "Regularly beat by far inferior programs" is also not based in fact. UND consistently beats teams it should. You don't chalk a record that Bubs has by losing to losing to teams you should beat.
  16. I agree that our pedigree would help maintain and reup our pipeline, but I don't agree it would be "pretty easy". In fact, it would be very hard. I happen to think Bubs has been recruiting tremendously well and with the way the portal works these days, I'd be very nervous to make a change with our pipeline and our current roster. With that said, this uneasiness shouldn't ultimately keep UND from making a change if it needs to. I just don't think they need to. I don't agree it's time, but I don't know what the line is, honestly. Gwoz's firing came down to a lot more than performance.
  17. It's a fair question. I don't know what the line would be, honestly. So many people want to ignore regular season success, but in my opinion, it feels wild to fully judge a coach's resume of success year over year based on a one-and-done format. In theory, there are many here that would fire Bubs if he went 30-0 into the national tournament and his team lost in the first round. It's fine if you want that. I just disagree.
  18. Yes, that was the point of my original comment that I responded to.
  19. No, but I've never once been a fan of firing for the sake of firing. I get incredibly nervous about losing our pipeline.
  20. In a while, yes. It's a festering scab that I've never been able to figure out how to stop scratching.
  21. Not arguing any of that. I'm saying... after all the ups-and-downs of this season, we lose in the regional final, the season wouldn't be considered a "success" to me, but my goodness, certainly not gonna fire the coach after it. My opinion. My overall concept to this thread is that we aren't firing Bubs midseason. What is the point of this now? Let the dang season play out.
  22. Whether or not you all want it or not, if a firing does happen, it won't happen until the end of the season. Wouldn't it just logically make sense to let the season play out? No? OK, cool lol.
  23. So, just to clarify, if UND pulls itself up from a really tough run of early-season games that lead them to a brutal PWR, during which they lost their best forward, arguably two of their best three defensemen, their captain, and several depth players to injury, makes the tournament, wins a game in said tournament, but loses in a regional final, you'd still want to move on from the coach?
  24. Welp, this tweet achieved its goal... get clicks and talks from the UND fanbase 😄
  25. UMD's? Yes, for sure. To the related topic, the point was that it's hard to win a natty and even teams with ridiculous lineups haven't won one since 2012. UMD and DU unfortunately are two exceptions to this timeframe.
