  1. ^^^^^ How many games have you been to this year?
  2. coachdags, thank you. Someone semi positive on here. Everyone just needs to relax and let these players and coaches sort thru all of this. In time this program will be fine with these coaches and players. Its a starting point. The coaches can't shoot the shots nor make good passes nor make sure no one is injured. There is talent and when the players start playing close to 40 minutes and not 24 minutes per game they will be fine. In the next 2-3 years this team will be very good and competitive. UND will never be North Carolina or Duke but could be a very good mid major team. Everyone needs to support this team and that means attending the games.
  3. ^^^ Being alittle harsh on these players aren't you. So are you saying pull every scholarship from these players and send them packing with the coaches. So a new coach comes in, he'll need 3-5 years or more to build a program. You going to throw him out in his first year of D1 also.
  4. Im sure you are kidding when you say Mertens is the best ball handler. He almost leads the nation in turnovers/game. Last I heard he had the second worst turnover/game in the NATION. He is good but most of the time out of control and that is why all the turnovers. Bledshoe was the true point guard for last year and this year I believe. Nick I would say was too be the backup for Bledshoe. Nick is probably not a true point guard and I agree one was needed to be in the system last year. Every new program struggles especially at this level. There are alot of current established D1 programs with only one or two wins at this point. DePaul University was 0-16 in league play last year and they used to be a national power. Again, next year and the following will tell the story for Jones and company. Got to at least give them a couple more years before punching their ticket out of here.
  5. One thing I would like to see happen now that Bledsoe is back is play an 7-8 man rotation and not 10. The players have been given plenty of time to prove themselves. Its time to go with the best 7-8 and give these players more minutes and see what happens. Seems like way to much rotation and players dont get into any kind of groove. One more point, this red shirt class was a big class with high expectations and the goal was to ride these players and have something special happen by their junior years with the classes behind them. They have the Ohio kid and the two signed athletic kids that are coming in next year behind them. People they are still 2 years away from putting a competitve team on the floor night after night. I agree last nights loss was very bad but sh*t happens in sports and it not always pleasant. Stay positive and support this team.
  6. Everyone is upset including myself. But after reading all your comments did anyone think they would have a winning record this year. Im sure 1-9 was not on our minds but give these players and coaches a chance. They are young and inexperienced. None of these coaches or players would believe at this point they are all shooting so bad. It comes down to protecting the ball and with this offense shooting effeciently. At this point it is not happening. That could all change in the matter of one game. Dont believe Jones and company are going anywhere and I dont believe bringing in a new coach will change anything at this point. Jones will continue to recruit the best talent that wants to come to UND but lets all give the players and coaches a chance. Nobody feels worse than the players, they are all winners and not used to losing.
  7. Agree ^^^, players want to score and D1 players are used to scoring alot in high school. Currently with this offense a player will be lucky to score 10 points/game. If this extremely low scoring output continues maybe the coaches will change a few things and bring more scoring. Of course, this turnovers and a better shooting percentage in all areas will bring more points. That can easily happen. Hopefully everyone will become healthy soon and then we can see what we've got.
  8. Cant shoot 50% of your shots from three and make under 20% of them and win. It still comes down to nobody making any shots.
  9. Ok, they shot over 50% of their shots this past weekend from 3 and made under 20% of their threes. Is it bad shot selection or they just cant shoot the three. When I watch princeton a majority of their shots are back door layups and much easier shots. Why do we settle for a three over 50% of the time. I guess once they start shooting the ball better we can win. But currently as a team they are under 30% for the year from three.
  10. Agree. Ohio has an amazing level of talent in basketball. Ohio players are everywhere in the college and the pro's. The kid schuler was co-player of the year in Ohio last year starts for Michigan State. Watched him the other night against north carolina. Of couse he is 6'10" and that helps. Hagen put up some huge numbers in high school also. I would have thought many schools were after him also. Mitchell is going to be a very good D1 player and i would have thought he was recruited by several schools. It seems that alot of recruits however played for some very small schools. Still would like to see them grab and powerful big man in the middle in the next couple of years. Too many guards at this point. As you said patience and time will tell.
  11. There is plenty of talent, which i believe will show with experience. All of these recruits were very solid high school players on very winning programs. They all scored alot of points and know how to score. They just need to be cut loose alittle more on offense and learn what it takes to win at the D1 level. Most all these kids were recruited by numerous D1 schools. Give them a chance. Again they are missing their key player this year and only one of two that has alot of experience. Jones gave most of these kids 5 year scholarships knowing the dividends would come in years 4 and 5. This is year 1 for most of them. Turnovers, poor shooting and lack of experience and injuries is why they are 1-6. Dont believe its recruiting nor coaching. This is my perspective.
  12. I believe they will be fine once they mature during the year. So far they have played descent talent and the inexperience has really showed. I would still like to see a more up tempo style offense and not taking the shot clock down to 35 seconds each and every possession. Having Bledsoe in street clothes is really killing them right now. Any word on when he returns. Next year they will add some athletism and the kid from Ohio who is red shirting this year. Also, Mitchell has been hurt alot this year and spending alot of time on the bench. Next year and the year after will be critical year for this team.
  13. Agree the offense needs changes. 41 points will not win any D1 basketball games. What are they averaging per game. Not even close to 60.
  14. ^^^^ Agree, this team is very young and inexperienced at the D1 level. It doesnt help that they are shooting 40% from the field and only 30% from three and a horrible 53% from the line. Once the nerves calm down and they relax they will start shooting better and then the wins will come. This team will be very good towards next year and then several years to come with these players.
  15. The two freshmen will still redshirt even though they played only a couple minutes each. Was alittle surprised either one played at all since they will not be playing until next year. Cant tell anything from a few minutes, next year we will know more with these two.
  16. Very nice. Agree, something special to work and play towards.
  17. I believe with the young recruits Jones has playing for the next 4-5 years, UND ranking will continue to rise. Its just nice to be a D1 school.
  18. I must have missed who UND played in the tournament. hhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa
  19. Heard they were looking for another true point guard to go with Jordan May. So, does this mean they have no point guard for next year?
  20. Correct. Late signing period is coming soon for 2009 class and early signing period for the 2010 class is November.
  21. What positions do they need to recruit in the 2010/11 class? With the 7 reshirt freshmen from this year and the incoming class of 3 for next year and the players they have coming back do they have any scholarships to offer?
  22. Would be nice to see a few more bigger schools on the schedule, like big 10 or big 12. Maybe the following year they can bring some of the bigger schools into the Beatty.
  23. How is the junior college player coming in next year doing?
  24. Based on everything I have heard and read next year could be the start of something very good. By the time these red shirt freshmen become seniors they will be very good.
  25. star2city, great article you posted on Schuler. Look forward to seeing this kid play. Also found Grahams website. www.ag-man.com. Dont know how to put the website so you can click it. Once on the website click on basketball team. You can scroll down and see the team. Schuler is 22. Also , scroll alittle further and you can see his point production for the year by game. Very impressive.
