I think a lot of people are assuming this is the same Bemidji State team as year's past. From everything I've seen and read, that's not the case. They have a lot of players from Canadian juniors and can play a pretty wide open style. Rewatched highlights of their Friday night UMD game and they scored the first 2 then let UMD score 6 straight. Key to me is to win the special teams battle as we both struggle on the PK and to take advantage of the odd man rushes they give us. Some of their defensemen are pretty reckless with pinching so we need to put some goals up.

It’s not fair criticism, it’s a knee jerk reaction to an exhibition where the team is testing new line combos/players/PP & PK units. For anyone paying attention it’s not surprising it took a period to settle in before steamrolling them(while rotating goalies). All while trying to escape without injuries so it’s not a normal game. Especially when that hard checking, playing on the edge is the identity of this team

Listening to the postgame with Jax and reading between the lines, Tyler had to wait on the sidelines while they chased a few blue chippers. I'm guessing Martone was one of them. It says a lot about his character that he is willing to do that and earn his spot every game.

I'm worried because even missing some guys I think they are literally the biggest games of the season. Of course we SHOULD beat them. Mercyhurst is the worst team in college hockey and even allowing a Robert Morris like goal to go to OT would be a disaster. On top of that we're coming out of the break with no students in the stands. If this isn't a trap series, I don't know what is.

Sounds like there's a potential to be missing A TON of players for the Mercyhurst series if the WJC guys all made their teams. (this is a good problem to have by the way) The final game in Switzerland is December 31st and Friday vs Mercyhurst is January 2nd. Dang, I was really excited for that. Worked at the old one back in the early 2000s so it's got a lot of nostalgia for me($5.25/hr but you get free movies and concessions!😆). If someone came in and did all the updates that were promised, the place would be packed.
