Same.  Also, college just isn't for everyone.

When I was at UND, I worked in small groups with many of the hockey players and nearly all were above average students, imo.  There was only one that I remember who didn't really do anything and he ended up transferring to ASU and he sat a year... guessing he may have transferred due to grades (I think he also left ASU early by signing an ECHL deal).  Another finished his part of our group project while on the road playing in the AHL playoffs!  Can't say for certain I would have done that.. A lot of these guys don't get the credit they deserve when it comes to academics, imo.

    So... Wade Murphy?

  2. Schloss talking on his podcast about changing the NCHC playoffs to home arenas as a catalyst to potentially getting NCAAs at home sites has me excited. Also, imagine the atmosphere at the REA having Denver, Duluth etc coming to town in late March with the NCHC Frozen Faceoff on the line. It’s more hockey at the REA and I’m here for it.

The Covid frozen faceoff was electric and that was in front of 5-6k fans.

  3. In general the 5th year just seems like it's a little much, especially when some of these guys went to juniors for multiple years before coming to campus.  It's such a weird thing when it comes to senior night and the finality of your college career being over(buy maybe not). Like many others, I'm looking forward to it expiring so you know how long a guy will be here. All of this to say, I love Riese and what he brings to this program and I'm sure come May I'll hope he's coming back to complement our top 2 lines.

Wait, I am very confused. Admittedly, I did not go through the thread completely, but are some saying that shooting and goaltending are WEAKNESSES on this team?

    Um, what?

This board is a wild place

On Gaber's goal it was so painfully obvious what they were doing, somehow their players didn't know what to expect though. Their PK is having an extra video session today.

Thought the same thing, Gaber was circling like a vulture and after a few give and gos they just left him alone in his office. Do that and he’s probably scoring on a third or more of those shots. Sure DU has a ton of talent in their top 6 but sure felt like our 3rd and 4th line showed their worth in the last period. We were dominating and looked like we were the team used to playing at altitude.

Colton Poolman had the game winner in 3 on 3. It did not go to a shootout. Not sure where you got that from.

I mean I was at the series so I hope I’d remember haha that was a lovely OT goal by Colton and there were a lot of happy Sioux fans in Downtown Denver that night

    UND hasn’t swept in Denver since November 20, 2003, that’s 20 years.

They did in the Rieger series(I know I know it was a tie nationally back then). But if we're calling 3v3 wins sweeps now, it's a sweep.  Otherwise we're just looking for a storyline using semantics.

I agree. I hope we do get him some time soon, though. I honestly have no idea is Persson would come back next season, but he can. With that said, we need Hobey to get some net sometime this season. I think collectively as a program we're so nervous about bad PWR losses because they've haunted us a few times over the past five years or so.

Kind of reminds me when we were playing Lake State in the 2014-15 season. Zane was the clear No. 1 with Cam on the bench. Cam came in and got lit up, I think it was 3 goals on like 8 shots, and got yanked. Well, we know how it worked out the next season LOL.

Cam got lit up that game too if memory serves and didn’t look great. Then he became a national championship level goalie
