Opposing fans LOVE to screengrab when UND fans do it and put it all over twitter. They like to pretend no other fanbase does it. So it's all in good fun.

This right here, UND is the worst fanbase ever when we do it. But when it’s UNO fans doing it and it’s plastered all over Twitter…crickets. It’s not a big deal but someone has to point out the hypocrisy

I think maybe 21, 18 and 4 dress tonight and have fresh legs and something to prove.

I don’t hate that take, 3rd game in 3 days. Let’s get some fresh legs out there for when we’ll need it in the 3rd

I sent an email to Ms. Weems before the season and wished her much success. Oh, and BTW, the area that needs the most improvement is NCHC.TV. I realize that she doesn't have control over what the schools do with their broadcasts, but a little encouragement wouldn't hurt. Isn't it Omaha where they switch away from the play to cover a player leaving the penalty box?

My favorite is showcasing their cool in the corner camera that doesn't cut away quickly enough to watch a player all alone in the slot with a great scoring chance.  To be honest, I've seen UND broadcasts get caught doing this so maybe my expectations are too high for college hockey.

Rewatching the games, I noticed how "clumsy" SCSU was in open ice ... namely around Frisch and behind the play.

After he'd move a puck up they seemed to make a late wide-swing turn with their head the other way and ended up "accidentally" bumping Frisch. Strangely, they "accidentally" bumped Frisch more than the other UND D combined. And a few of the "bumps" were at speeds to knock him down.

I'm surprised the officials didn't pick up on that ... or not.

 Thanks for the laugh this morning

Of course it is, but we need a more reasonable gauge to measure off of since titles are so rare and hard to come by (unless you're Duluth or Denver recently).  I don't blame Hakstol for not winning one as he routinely put his teams in positions to win the natty.  Despite not winning a title, the team still felt like it was in a good place and the program was at a peak when looking at everything other than the lack of a title.  North Dakota was still the "talk of the town" on a national level along with BC's run at the time.  If you made Frozen Fours a "best of" series, we'd probably have multiple under Hak.  Sometimes we were outplayed, sometimes we didn't get the bounces, sometimes the other team was just better.  But, Berry's title isn't a recent memory anymore.  It's fading farther and farther into the distance.  The program has been one step forward two steps back with Berry since he took over.  Next year may be one step forward again, but is the following season two more steps back?  At what point do you stop the train and accept the program is in a worse place than when he started and isn't looking any brighter going forward?  If you were a blue chip recruit, do you go play for sweaty Brad Berry whose team is on the slide and players tend to underperform, or go to a place like Denver with a young, exciting coach and his own much more recent title; or Scott Sandelin who has his own incredible run of success lately?

    Come on, be better

To me the biggest disappointment in recent years has been Jake Sanderson. Came and went. Flash in the pan. Played the equivalent of a season and a half for the Sioux. Got a lot of ink but left no legacy. We don't need any more short timers like that, especially the injury prone type. One and done or two and flew programs don't win championships.

Such a silly thing to say. Of course I'd recruit a Jake Sanderson...with the presence to persuade him to mature and strengthen as an upperclassman and help win a championship.  Not to mention college degrees are a pretty special thing to have, especially when they are free. Again, how did Duluth and Denver win natty's three out of the last four years?

No idea where I got that idea, my bad

Hell, in addition to ASU, I’d also throw CC in there as well. Sunny days 300 days a year, campus with direct views of Pikes Peak, and a brand new on-campus arena. But to your point, there’s gotta be more to recruiting talent than climate.

Correct me if I'm wrong but CC is quite a bit more strict as to who is accepted in, which could work against them in getting the best players.  Also, not like it's a full on campus experience being a small liberal arts college.

I think it is hard to say that a freshman is regressing, being that they have no collegiate body of work to compare them to.
What would we call Blake then?  Since he is playing better than expected...is he getting better under Berry's leadership?  ;)

No, that's not how it works.  You only use the data points that further your argument and stick your head in the sand on anything to the contrary.

In my opinion we have missed out on recruiting the goaltenders in Minnesota/Red River Valley the past few years. The dad of the Slukynsky kid in Warroad played for UND.  The last section 8 goalie we got won the Richter award.  He is headed to Northern Michigan.

Locally you've got some goalies from Fargo that are having success like Trent Wiemken that is having a good year in Austin in the NAHL and was called up to the Force at some point as well.  He's only 18.  You've got a kid in Noel Olsonawski in Fargo that is a senior with a GAA under 1.  Plenty of room for those guys to grow.  People forget that guys like Hunter Shepherd and Ryan Faragher were NAHL guys.

Kids like this have to be on the radar.  People will say "but we have Kaleb Johnson", but honestly he wasn't great in the NAHL and played on loaded Central teams so he was not tested much in high school.  I'm looking at kids that could be regular starters at UND.

Maybe the Hedquist kid from Minnesota turns that tide and gets us away from the portal, but he hasn't lit the world on fire either lately.

    He's .923 in his last 10 games <shrugs>
