Sad day. Lots of kids childhood memories in that building.

    Another Fargo restaurant closing.

Went about a couple weeks ago. If you haven’t been for a few years it’s nothing like it used to be and was a brutal experience. Pizza Ranch has a better arcade and the animatronics have been gone for a while

Those are cold hard statistics that have actually played out. Love that stuff.  Just not a fan of the hypothetical would could nonsense that has no actual meaning on true outcomes. If I 3 putt 6 holes (Damn you Donald Ross) and drive one OB on Pinehurst #2 in a couple weeks my x18 will probably by 77 but my actual score will be 85.

I'm guessing you're not a big fan of the 'Strokes Gained' statistic

Paid a little visit to The Ledge yesterday.    Pretty crowded.   Fans with a dazed, desperate look, some moaning “I don’t deserve this” and “We used to be elite!”   There were some vacant spaces along the outside edge, suggesting some may have already jumped, though I was afraid to lean out and look for splat marks below.   It was pretty obvious that gf, who has been a full time resident since 5 years after Hak became HC,  and his business, Gfhockey Ledge Properties, are benefitting from the recent sweeps by CC and Omaha.   They must have rebuilt the elevators, because they were reportedly able to fill large areas of the Ledge this weekend in the time it takes to play one period of hockey.

Not sure I’d want to go back up there if the boys lose to Miami this weekend.   Many of those up there now will be gone, and not because they took the “down” elevator.

Nightmare scenario as it currently stands for the NCAA Tournament Committee.....things will change, but as of today I would not envy them.

    Natural layout.

    BC, Maine, Quinnipiac, Bemidji State

    BU, Wisconsin, Michigan, R.I.T.

    UND, Minnesota, Colorado College, Massachusetts

Denver, Michigan State, Western Michigan, Providence

last teams out Nebraska Omaha and SCSU.

Issues....Michigan vs. Wisconsin needs to be changed. How do they keep top 2 seeds out East with Massachusetts being a host team and as a 4 seed and not able to matchup against either of them. Providence is not host team but I am sure they would like to keep them in Providence if they could. What if Nebraska Omaha moves up and knocks Providence out? Do you then move UND or Denver out East and Bring BU west?

Will be very interesting to follow

    Its all a bit.

He's our Karl Gerbschmidt.... and it works.

ss.com life wouldn't be the same without it.

But yeah character or not,  I'm thinking dudes got a snoutfull more often than not.

How dare you besmirch Gerby like that. Karl is a diehard that rides for his team no matter what #warriors

  6. Would love to jump BU as we seem to have been much better this year when we’re able to match lines. And it’d be critical to match with Celebrini and Hutson as they change games. It’d be nice if the only team we have to worry about is BC, if we even have to play them in the title game potentially.

Hak was a bit snake-bitten and it surely wasn't because of his coaching the team wasn't able to win one.  I find it hard to believe Hak also wouldn't have gotten over that hurdle.

Playing devils advocate, Why would hak have gotten it done in 2015-16 when he didn’t with Duncan oshie toews zajac Stafford, the pony line, etc?

I’d say it’s a rather large logical leap to assume in parallel universe hak would have gotten it done when the one knock against him was that his teams didn’t get it done for over a decade in the frozen four, no matter how good they were in the regular season. And I am of the opinion he was a great college coach(but so is Berry).

It’s incredible to me how this board has revisionist history regarding Haks legacy. After every frozen four letdown the cries for him to be fired were louder and louder. And after 2015 they were at a fever pitch. Then he went to the nhl and proved his legitimacy and now everyone seems to conveniently forget how chastised he was while at UND.

UND has typically won its nattys by knocking on the front door as a conference champ vs sneaking in the back by just getting lucky and banking on 2 good weekends.

Fun fact, UND is last independent to win a natty.

It’s not very often I learn something new about UND hockey but that’s a cool stat. Thanks for sharing

So on the topic of #2 vs #3 overall seed, are people excited about potentially getting to #2 so the first game is a much lower pairwise opponent? Right now, St. Cloud State is #14, but with them a NCHC team, would the committee flip to #13 Michigan??  it would be the difference between playing one of them and RIT (#22). I was initially pretty indifferent about being #3 vs #2 but I can see a clear advantage to being #2 so count me in on wanting that as well. One downside of Denver sweeping SCSU which allowed us to win the Cup, is that Denver is now top 4 pairwise right behind UND. I could see them sneaking ahead of us before selection Sunday with all the games yet to be played. In that case, would they steal our spot in Sioux Falls??  Denver is 2 hours closer to SF than Maryland Heights, but still a long ways. I would hope the committee would honor the attendance potential of UND in Sioux falls.

This could have changed but I believe in the past the committee takes the approach that “a flight is a flight”. So because DU would have to get on a plane it doesn’t matter that SF is closer.

    Damn that Nathan Gerbe.
I remember there being almost no reaction when Marto scored the lone Sioux goal near the end of the 3rd.  Everyone...both team and fans were both just so defeated.

I was sitting across from the Pepsi center in the bar watching it on tv. We drove up to go to the game but couldn’t find a scalper with a ticket for under $200 or something. On principal I let them eat their tickets and it was a good decision.  To be fair it was a nice goal by marto, just didn’t matter one iota

Screens, deflections, bad bounces, freaky own goals, pipes . . .    Winning both games at regional and both at FF takes luck in addition to good play.   A shot from the point that deflects off one or more bodies may be nobody's fault but the gods'.   That's why those shots from the perimeter through traffic can be so nerve-wracking even when the boys are playing well.  In a game where 2 goals can win the game, there's a shytpot full of chance in the hockey NCAAs.  Playing well is necessary but it is not always sufficient.

Even looking back to the 2016 title, that fluky little goal from the point that the goalie just got a piece but it still managed to find its way in.  You maybe see one goal like that all year.

    Latest bracketology from USCHO:

    https://www.uscho.com/2024/02/28/bracketology-some-movement-in-the-pairwise-makes-this-weeks-bracektology-that-much-more-difficult-to-handle/

Holy region of death in South Dakota.  Any of those four teams could advance.
Hoping that the final brackets don't look like this for UND.

    Providence, R.I.
    1. Boston College
    8. Minnesota
    9. Maine
    16. Bemidji State

    Maryland Heights, Mo.
    2. Boston University
    6. Denver
    10. Providence
    15. RIT

    Sioux Falls, S.D.
    3. North Dakota
    7. Quinnipiac
    11. St. Cloud State
    14. Michigan

    Springfield, Mass.
    4. Wisconsin
    5. Michigan State
    12. Western Michigan
    13. Massachusetts

I think we've beat Michigan and Quinnipiac in the NCAAs in the same year... just struggling to remember which year

“It’s too much pressure playing for this team that can’t win an NCAA tournament game, if we even make it, so I’ll just transfer to the reigning national champions.”

    Weird.

Not sure if you're being dense or deliberately obtuse to not understand how much more pressure is on you playing for UND vs Quinnipiac.
