    Is this the Trap series?

It is, let’s hope the boys don’t fall in it. I’m thinking the Penrose being a very real possibility keeps them locked in. I like that it’s a road series too

They swapped a lot of the personnel and where they're playing.
Instead of focusing on Gaber on the right side, they now put Owen and Berg (depending on unit) on the other side so that there's an effective shooter on both sides for both PP units.  Now teams can't just load up the right side to take away the Gaber shot from his office.

It’s so awesome to have a plethora of options that can pick a corner. Gaber, Blake, Berg, OMac. You can’t stop them all

How "snuggly" is PWR right now?

I changed the Wisconsin/UND game to a UW win and Bucky goes up to #2 (from 4) and UND goes to #7 (from 3).

I could sense how big that game was when UND won.  Remember thinking, we're going to be very happy we held on to this win come the end of the year.

I noticed that Ludvig seems to be staying on his feet more instead of going into the butterfly especially on rushes coming into the zone ... anyone else notice this or am I seeing something that isn't there or has he done regularly already?

    Edit: Like here:

He does stay on his feet more, I think it’s if he believes a guy is going to shoot high. I like it and think it makes him look super confident in his abilities

  5. The thing with Perron is I can see the skill, it's so obvious, and impressive when he gets a little bit of space. He's the perfect prospect for college hockey because he gets bumped off the puck easily against the boards so he'll hit the weight room hard in the offseason and add a new dimension to his game.  He needs to get some of that Gaber(or Grimaldi) strength and he'll be unstoppable.

  6. One other thing I'll point out that I noticed the last couple weekends, our wingers have to stop cheating when they think we may turn the puck over going the other way.  I've seen a few times where it looks like we may turn the puck over to get an odd man rush and they jump out of the zone only to have the puck stay in our own end.  Gotta play honest hockey as a unit and not get separated especially on the big ice.

Saturday late, one goal lead, Blake crossed center, had no great options, dumped, and went to the bench.

Jake Brandt commented that dumping it must've been hard for Blake (because he likes the puck on his stick) but it's a play he needs to make when it's the smart, safe, right one.

    Well that's progress at least

Disappointing as it is we don’t have the horses this year to make a run. Especially with our forwards committed to not playing D for one second. We do not have one single tough defenseman. Frankly, not even one good one. Not one single guy on this team plays like Genoway, or Stecher, or Pattyn, or Spirko, or Parise, or Sanderson. Who’s the heart? No one. Unless I’m blind there is not one single try hard on this team. We need try hards.

We do not have, and will not have in the future, ever again, the way recruiting is going, gopher talent that beats try-hard talent. Think about what our D looks like next year. We need talent that simply is not here or coming here (or ever coming here) and that’s assuming the whole back end doesn’t transfer out again. Johannes is our toughest player-what the hell is going on here?

Where are the Blood and  Finley and tough SOBs that are apparently not recruited, but maybe they don’t exist? I know the NCHC didn’t let Kleven play, but does that mean we can’t ever hit again? (No offense Stoney, and I love ya, your optimism here is something needed and that I love-I mean it) but Brad: 1) has recruited exactly 0 first round forwards in NINE fucking years—imagine that happening with Hak who brought in 1-3 most in years (and when he didn’t, D were at least studs); 2) has brought in exactly one gamebreaker, Jake Sanderson, in nine years, who despite being one of the best college hockey players of all time, had the misfortune of being injured at inopportune times;); and 3) does not have studs, and will almost certainly not ever have studs, to compete with the other blue bloods the way things are going, because he is simply unable to recruit with the top schools like hak was. And more importantly, he is not, and has not, ever gotten the best out of his players. Losing in close playoff games is not some sign of competence like most people here seem to have accepted.

UND should not be a second rate school as far as recruiting goes and it is exactly what we are under Brad. If it is NIL-which it is not as far as I am aware-Dinkyown hasn’t really caught onto yet either. We need a coach who can rally the donors to get on board with NIL mongo stud recruits. We do not have the horses to fix this next year, or the year after that. We are getting murdered in recruiting by BC, BU, MN, Michigan, Michigan State, Denver, and frankly second-rate east coast schools. This is indisputable-15 years ago our alma mater was THE spot to go, it is not anymore, and I wish we had a coach who could sell it like hak. Schloss  spews his “look how 0 first round players won the last couple years championships” without ever mentioning the talent in 2016. Or that Rand Pecknold is a great x and o coach-which Brad unfortunately is not. I know I am not alone in feeling this way. Brad Berry is a great person and anyway who has ever met him knows that. But that is not enough. Winning the conference of 8 does not matter to most of us. In Bismarck the alumns have had enough of schloss’ obsequiousness to take it seriously. Winning one tournament game in 9 years is simply pathetic and Brad should have been fired after he demonstrated his ability by bringing in 18-19 classes highlighted by Joel Janitunniun and Ludwig Hoff

I spent most of the first half of the offseason continuously talking about how crucial it was to have a roster construction of 15F / 8D / 3G. W/ an emphasis that the 15th F / 8th D / 3rd G was designated. Those three were aware that was their roll. Outside of injuries they aren’t in. That hasn’t changed and Berry has done a good job of that. World is changing, I would include an extra F in that roll, I’d be ok w/ 2 more.

I’m happy that he left mid-season. Better for him, better for the program. Year two of this Berry, hopefully this learning lesson finally sticks. Roster construction. Need guys that ok w/ not playing outside of injuries.

Not the place probably, but no more 5th years. You played your 4 years, thank you, but let’s move on. It is frustrating that they lost a guy w/ a lot of talent, to play Albrecht. Recruit talent, play talent, develop talent.

Aren't we almost out of the woods on this? If my math is correct, guys that were in their 1st year of eligibility during the COVID season would be on their 5th year next season.

Definitely have their moments, but I'll take sweeping a top 20 team with your backup goalie.

Good non conference record for the group.  Only lost to Snuggy and Hutson.

    Angry Stu Gabinet next.

I hope Berg has a hat trick

I think it's going to be really hard for ASU to move out of 16th. That Stonehill game and both against Dartmouth are going to bite them in the end and they still got 4 against Alaska, 2 against Cornell and Augustana, and Lindenwood could steal a game.

Was just thinking it’s crazy they’re 16th in the PWR with a 16-3-5 record

I was told it wasn't just a little bit of work on the 3x3, but A LOT of work on the 3x3 lol

Probably a good idea because there have been some mental mistakes in the 3x3. High risk plays that would make sense in 5v5 but obviously have to adjust. The one the comes to mind is that attempted pass(by Berg?) vs DU to a streaking forward who was squarely wedged between 2 defenders.
