  1. The bolded part is hilarious! The exciting downtown bar scene of St. Paul, got my laugh for the day. Thanks!
  2. Spitting distance Went to Capital Grille a couple weeks ago, vodka tonic was $15 I believe, no thanks. Some bars for the commoner: The Pourhouse(Sioux gathering is here and fun place) Sneaky Pete's(Gets packed on weekend nights, good party) Brother's(close to Target Center and it has shuffleboard in the basement!) 508 Bar Kieran's(Across the street from Target Center, most likely will be packed but make great pot pies)
  3. I'd say my order and subsequent reasoning is: NCHC regular season title (Penrose Cup)- Get to hang a white banner, 2nd best thing Winning the NCHC postseason tournament- Another trophy for the case Appearing in the national championship game (runner-up finish)- We were close but couldn't get it done, this one hurts Advancing to the Frozen Four- Tells me we had a really great run but again couldn't close it out NCAA tournament appearance- At least we have a chance every year Hobey Baker award winner- would rather have a Ryan Duncan on the team than beat Niagra and lose to Yale Making it to Minneapolis for the Frozen Faceoff- Extra hockey for me! Home ice for the NCHC playoffs- Got a nice streak going Winning a game in the NCAAs (appearing in the regional final)- Participation Banner territory 20 win season- Nice but not necessarily required to make the tourney EDIT: There are many different ways to look at these. On second thought, the Hobey Baker is appealing because it's another trophy but as we have seen in the past, this is not always given to the best player in college hockey player which makes it fall out of favor for me.
  4. Ugh, I don't want to hear about this. Let's just beat CC in 2 and be done with it.
  5. As a Sioux fan, you have to love reading the following paragraphs from the article: 'So it would only be natural for the Chaska, Minn. native to follow his dad and uncles to Dinkytown, right? Instead Gersich, an Under-18 forward at USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, will move on next season to the Gophers’ longtime rivals, the University of North Dakota. “Obviously, it was between Minnesota and North Dakota,” he said. “North Dakota’s facility speaks for itself. The coaches are professional. I just like it. My dad didn’t give me any grief. He told me it was really up to me.”'
  6. I had mentioned that I thought it was pretty hilarious and quite a compliment that SCSU players actually planned out a celebration towards our fans if they scored...especially since uh, it was at their home rink It shows you that they recognize and are affected by the travelling Sioux fans, which is great.
  7. Goon 7 Jan 0, which is also the total amount of each school's nat... well, you get the idea
  8. Seasons not over, still #10 in pairwise so let's not all jump off the bandwagon at once and look for someone to blame after a one goal loss to a tough WMU team. Disappointing not to get hardware for sure but let's get the important trophy!
  9. Haha no thanks although nothing would me make me happier too Go Hawks. For whatever reason I like us playing CC better, just a feeling
  10. The whole season is the reason they ended up last but it would be foolish to ignore the play of each team most recently. Neither team is great but Miami seems to be on the upswing beating SCSU and Denver recently.
  11. The only silver lining in last night's loss is we play CC instead of Miami, Blake Coleman is on a tear right now
  12. When's Yon supposed to get to UND? Really impressed with his skating and quick shot after watching today.
  13. No idea, I wasn't around until the '87 championship
  14. Looks they did not win the conference tournament in 80 & 82 but did win it in 87,97, and 2000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_North_Dakota_men%27s_ice_hockey
  15. No, they did not have a weekend off although I'll admit I had to go back and look.
  16. I mean as long as the fans confidence doesn't affect how the team plays(spoiler alert:it doesn't) then it's not really an issue if some fans want to be over-confident or cocky. They only risk getting it thrown back in their own face so I don't have a problem with over-confidence. In fact, it's a 1000x better than woe is me, the Sioux suck, fire hak crap.
  17. Yeah, I'm sure UND is looking past the biggest weekend of the regular season and their chance to hoist the Penrose Cup in the inaugural year of the NCHC. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's going to be easy but echoing other's sentiments, we are a much better team than the one that swept the Broncos in their own arena. Also, I see WMU's PP is clipping along at 12.3%, good for 4th worst in the nation and ahead of only CC, Niagra, and Huntsville...and Sioux fans were complaining about our powerplay.
  18. I was thinking the same thing, no idea what the tropy will be.
  19. As much as I agree that there is a certain advantage that BC(and other East Coast teams) enjoy for not having to travel for regionals, what does that have to do with your assertion that a frustrating loss would help this team going into the tournament? I was simply pointing out that BC was able to win their conference tournament the past 4 times they won a national championship. So it would appear that playing(winning) more games does not hurt teams come NCAA tournament time.
  20. Ah makes sense, didn't even know a parking area existed. I was trying to picture a tent on Hennepin Avenue and the method for keeping drunk people from falling into traffic
  21. Um... where will they put a tent in the middle of downtown Minneapolis? The set up is quite different from McGovern's in St. Paul, not nearly the room. However, I will be at Pourhouse "tuning up" for the games as well! Here's a picture of the outside of Pourhouse.
  22. Like last year? We lost a frustrating play-in game and still didn't win it all and were out-skated by the eventual National Champions, the Yale Bulldogs. BC has won National Titles in 2001, 2008, 2010, & 2012. Guess what else they did every single one of those years? Won the conference tournament. In other words, the argument that the team won't have their legs under them because they roll through the tournament doesn't hold much water.
  23. I was highly intoxicated when I discovered the secret bookcase. Needless to say, I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
  24. Yup, well put. That's one reason why I never really care what our "draw" is in the regionals because we are going to have beat some good teams no matter what, might as well earn it. I kind of doubt anyone outside of Yale fans had Yale coming out of our region last year.
  25. I love the story because it means they notice that our fans are taking over their arena. We're in their heads so much they make plans to taunt us if they score, thanks for the compliment St. Cloud.
