Clearly any nickname that's picked will not have the leverage that Sioux had. So do you think Nodakclothing.com will have a bigger market share of Nodak Apparel sold than UND athletics if Nodaks is chosen? Will people immediately associate the clothing with their brand? I doubt it since most people aren't even aware it exists. Again, obviously they won't be 1st with any nickname like they were with the Sioux. I think we're on the same page? Sort of?

Agreed about what you said about a very clear and specific logo. I never said that the Sioux doesn't think about licensing revenues so not sure where the 2nd paragraph was referring to.

I really don't think they would be much competition for UND athletics clothing. Especially considering I didn't know it existed until about 10 minutes ago. I don't see the lack of imagination by one small company affecting UND's athletic department's imagination in producing and marketing their own Nodak brand. I guess I'm still failing to really see how this affects the nickname being chosen. Not sure if the fast food restaurant analogy applies. McDonald's has built a brand that's known worldwide. This small company does not have that sort of reach or brand equity, obviously.

I don't follow, didn't see much to read in the link. It's a clothing company that happens to be name Nodak so... that's what our logo will be? Sorry, not making the connection.

This forum is the minority of UND fans. Passionate bordering on insanity...myself included at times The majority are your regular people from Grand Forks/ND that talk about what name they're voting for and why then move on with the rest of their life.

A little early for me to know if I'll have extras. However, this will probably be the easiest series to get tickets for all year. No students in town and a less than desirable opponent in UAH. I'd be surprised if you couldn't find tickets around the $20-30/ticket once the weekend gets closer.

If it's a non-factor why do people care that it's random? Qualtrics and UND want to appear as though they have impartiality. Even the appearance of that could bring on more controversy that they don't want. I think they've had their fill of that.

I'd agree with this. It has to appear as though there is not even a hint of bias on the part of Qualtrics or the University. It makes sense to me but it seems like a non-issue to me. Who cares if it's random order?
