  1. Thank you. Minnesota State-Mankato also does not make the trip up to Grand Forks this year.

  3. New Hampshire is coming to the Ralph the weekend after Christmas.
  4. When Joe Finley does push ups, he doesn't push himself up, but pushes the Earth Down. Jonathan Toews once shot down a Japanese Fighter plane, by pointing his finger and yelling "Bang" At the end of the Book of World Records, there is an asterisk, that says that all world records are held by Chris Porter, and that all records listed, are just the closest anyone else has ever gotten.
  5. When TJ Oshie was being born, he hip-checked the doctor trying to deliver him. No one delivers the Oshie except the Oshie.
  6. At Home: Friday Night: Home Sioux Replica Jersey Saturday Night: Nike Black Sioux Fleece On Road: Friday Night: Grey Hooded Sioux Sweatshirt w/SIOUX written across chest Saturday Night: Green "University: North Dakota" T-shirt w/Road Sioux Replica Jersey over Neutral: Any Night: American Eagle bluejeans, '97 National Championship T-shirt w/Grey Sweatshirt and Home Sioux Replica Jersey over that.
  7. The Award isn't given out for last year, it's given out for this year. He more than doubled his team's victories from the year before. How many of the 17 games were against Conference Opponents? Jackson can't control who he play. Obviously everyone on here has massive bias towards Hakstol (Sioux fans anyway), but if one looks at USCHO in the poll thread about this topic, Jackson has received 11 votes to Hakstol's 0. Does it mean that Jackson is a better coach than Hak? I would say no, merely that this season, Jackson probably deserves the award...IMHO.
  8. How do you explain Notre Dame's improvement this season? Last Year's team didn't have that much harder of a schedule (Non-conference against Mankato, Princeton and @CC/Denver), and yet they only won 13 games. This year they had a similar schedule and won 32 games. That's remarkable. Hakstol had an underachieving team the first half of the seaon that finally got its act together to save its season. If you look at the past winners of the award, they tend to go to coaches who have turned things around (Blasi in '06, 'Sandelin in '04, Daniels (Ferris) in '03, Whitehead in '02, Marsh (SLU) in '00) than coaches who have succeeded with talent (Gwoz in '05 and Blais in '01). Jeff Jackson will most likely be the '07 winner, and he should. He deserves this award.
  9. Army and Air Force were part of the Lightning College Hockey Showcase, so I'm not sure how much influence they had on who they played as far as the opening round game versus Army. Then obviously they had no control who they would play in the Championship, but it wound up being Atlantic Hockey Tournament Champion Air Force. The wins at BC and Providence are impressive (they beat BC 7-1), and the split with Mankato is nothing to laugh at. The only questionable non-conference loss was against Robert Morris, but they played their backup goalie, so that will happen. Notre Dame won the CCHA easily, as well as the conference tournament. They were 3-0 against Michigan, and split the season series with Michigan State before losing out in the Regional Final. They had 32 wins this season, NINETEEN more than a year ago, and the most victories in the program's history. Jeff Jackson deserves this award moreso than Dave Hakstol. He had a better overall season. He had less talent than Hakstol had to work with, and led his program to it's best season ever. Again, I'm not trying to bash Hakstol here, I never have. I just don't think that Hakstol should win this award this season.
  10. I'd like to see the following players notch one (or more) goals in the Frozen Four: Oshie Duncan Toews Bina Porter Chorney Fabian Miller VandeVelde
  11. It's not a career achievement award, it's for the 2006-2007 season. While Hakstol has done great things in turning this team around, he wasn't even WCHA Coach of the Year. Jeff Jackson turned a mediocre program into one of the top programs into the country, while Hak merely got immense talent to play at their level. I would love to see Hak win it, but I don't think he should.
  12. Remember, the voting is already done for the Hobey. They voted from the 10 finalists. The "Hobey Hat Trick" merely represents the top 3 vote getters, so it's not like voters are picking between Duncan, Brown, and Ehn. Rather, they picked from the top ten. I think Ehn has a great chance at winning, and if he did, I would be fine with that. In all actuality, I'd be fine with whoever wins it out of these three. They each had great seasons and are deserving of the award.
  13. I was under the impression that all the voting has taken place, and the Hobey Hat Trick are the top three vote getters (ie, there is no more voting). Hobey Baker winner is announced the Friday during the Frozen Four.
  14. If we reseed the teams that DID make the tournament based on KRACH, here is what we would have gotten: West: 1. Minnesota 16. Air Force (#51 KRACH) 8. Michigan 9. Boston University Midwest: 2. Notre Dame 15. Alabama-Huntsville (#46 KRACH) 7. Clarkson 10. Michigan State (#12 KRACH) East: 3. St. Cloud 14. St. Lawrence (#18 KRACH) 6. North Dakota 11. Maine (#15 KRACH) Northeast: 4. Boston College 13. Miami (#17 KRACH) 5. New Hampshire 12. UMASS (#16 KRACH) The only inter-conference matchup we have is New Hampshire vs UMASS, so we switch UMASS with the closest #3 seed that doesn't result in inter-conference matchups, which is Michigan State, so our tournament is... Denver Regional: 1. Minnesota 16. Air Force (51 krach) 8. Michigan 9. Boston University Manchester Regional: 4. Boston College 13. Miami (17 krach) 5. New Hampshire 10. Michigan State (12 krach) Rochester Regional: 3. St. Cloud 14. St. Lawrence (18 krach) 6. North Dakota 11. Maine (15 krach) Grand Rapids Regional: 2. Notre Dame 15. Alabama-Huntsville (46 krach) 7.Clarkson 12. UMASS (16 krach)
  15. Technically, Union's Fox signed on March 8th...I believe he was the first underclassman to sign an NHL contract.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the most games a team can play during the regular season is 34 games with exemptions for the Hall of Fame Game, Trip to Alaska, and in-season tournament, so the most a Sioux player could play in any given season is: 34 - NCAA Max 1 - Hall of Fame GAme 2 - Trip up to Alaska 2 - In season Tournament 3 - WCHA First Round 3 - WCHA Final Five (including play-in game) 4 - NCAA Tournament 49 total games If UND were to play in their max amount of games, and taking into account that they would play in Anchorage only 3 out of 4 years, the max consecutive games would be 194. It COULD be 196 if UND scheduled Fairbanks in the year that they did not play at Anchorage. Anyway, it would mean 4-consecutive national title game appearances...so that would be pretty sweet.
  17. Not in the current format. However, LSSU beat two #1 seeds as a #4 in 1994. Also, there were a few times where two #1s were upset by #4 or lower seeds in the tournament.
  18. He should talk to Bina for some tips.
  19. They had it last year. Last year, it came out after this weekend, so I'd imagine it would be up (hopefully) by next Monday or Tuesday. Basically, you pick the winner of each game in the remaining Conference Tournaments, and then it adjusts RPI, TUC, and COP to figure out who could go where. UND can still end up with a #1 seed, but they'll basically need to hit the lottery to do so. Just some of the things that will probably need to happen... -Sweep Mankato and still have them be a TUC -Nebraska-Omaha and/or LSSU getting swept out of TUC status -Notre Dame making the CCHA Semis, and then lose to TUC squads in the Semis and 3rd place game -Bemidji State winning the CHA tournament -New Hampshire either getting swept this weekend, or losing both in the Semis and 3rd place game -We need to win the Final Five -Dartmouth remaining in the top 15 of the RPI -Quinnipiac remainnig a TUC So basically, cheer for: Miami Michigan State Notre Dame (this weekend, then against them next) Bemidji State Dartmouth Quinnipiac Denver (hopefully Wisconsin could fall out of TUC status) Michigan Tech (to help assure that Dartmouth remains a top 15 RPI squad) St. Cloud State (this weekend, would be nice if we could play and beat them) Minnesota (would help our RPI out if we could play and beat them in the Final Five Championship) It's almost impossible, but I suppose there is a slight, slight glimmer of hope. *note, if ALL of this occurred, it's quite possible UND could wind up with the #1 or #2 overall seed.
  20. From the article on USCHO "Wait till Next Year" on the 2007-2008 schedule... "For the first time in its history, UNH will play at the crown jewel of college hockey, the Ralph Engelstad Arena. On December 29 and 30, the Wildcats play North Dakota in a meeting of two perennial powers." And for 2008-2009... "Another exciting tidbit is that North Dakota is expected to play at the Great Lakes Invitational."
  21. I have read that New Hampshire is coming to the Ralph over Christmas Break next season. As far as the Alaska tourney, they usually get 1 other WCHA team to play in that, and since North Dakota is not making the trip up there next year for WCHA play, it is widely rumored that they will be the "other" WCHA team in that tournament.
  22. Let's see the proof then. Names need to be named, photos of the other posters need to be seen. If you don't have proof for your "facts", then let it go.
  23. They'll play the game unless the teams/officials can't make it. Sioux are down there, Huskies are obviously down there, and that leaves the officials. I would be EXTREMELY shocked if the game did not go on. Too much money/hassle to postpone the game. Plus, it would leave both teams with one less day of rest. Anyone know the last time a UND game was postponed due to weather?
  24. I've heard rumors that we'll be going up to Alaska to start the season off (their Nye Tournament or whatever it is called), and I believe New Hampshire is coming here over Christmas Break.
