Well that works then…but who will play D for this team? :) I’d honestly have him come in though. Give him sheltered ice if you’re worried about his D play.

From that podcast it sure seems like there may be a little steam with Bennett Zmolek

I'm not sure how likely it would be that Eli King would actually come to UND. He was a 4 star recruit out of high school with offers and interest from plenty of P6 schools like: Iowa, Marquette, Stanford, Minnesota. I find it hard to believe that all those schools and others would give up on a 4 star recruit after one year. Who knows though!!

He wants to play with his brother. Mid major interest at best right now. Valpo was seen as strong contender for both King's before their staff got fired.

The new uniforms are definitely different, they'll have to grow on me.

Kepler can't lead off right?  Right?

Think we've got our bullpen set nicely though.  Lopez, Jax, Thielbar, Duran.

I hate the hats the most with the stolen old Miami Marlins M

I don't mind the white, grey, or cream colored jerseys. The blue could've been better. Not having the baby blue in the rotation is a huge swing and miss

I don't know that they have a great leadoff option but agree I don't think it should be Kepler

Pitching staff as a whole has a ton of depth, not a true ace but ton of solid pitchers

I recall the site being excited over DeRidder,  him coming from a no-d program and seeing more rubber than (insert)'s mom.

Count me one as who was not at all excited over DeRidder after seeing him at Michigan State and I actually thought he would end up backing up Hellsten for much of the year but Hellsten never could find any consistency either

On Persson I like him much more than I did DeRidder but I was all in on Haider first and foremost so unless they went after him and got told he was interested I'm a little disappointed

  5. Looks like I missed a lot during the day today.

Don't mind losing Moore or Portz for a couple reasons. Moore was a liability in his own end and didn't bring consistent enough offense to see past that, however losing every defenseman on the roster is a little concerning. With Portz I liked him as a player but he is the style of player I feel we need maybe 1 or 2 of and we have had like 4-5 at least the past couple years.

If Persson was on campus that is solid, I would much prefer Haider if I had a choice but Ludvig would be a solid 2nd choice.

Seems like that would reinforce the notion that they don’t need to be on campus to have atmosphere.

Puts the 1 seed at a disadvantage having to play in what they will call a road atmosphere

  7. If we aren't winning the title I really don't feel too strongly about who does/doesn't. This year out of what is left I'd probably least like Quinnipiac(Pecknold is just such an asshole) or Michigan but other than them whatever. Minnesota winning would make my brother happy and maybe give our staff even a little more of a kick in the ass.

Minny is one of most talented teams 1-19 skaters I've seen in a number of years. They are even better with TV games and all the timeout breaks.

Definitely and everyone loves to talk about their talented forward group and rightfully so because there is so much skill and scoring depth but man their D group needs more credit. Faber, Johnson, LaCombe, Koster, Chesley, Thomas, and Mittlestadt is right up there with our loaded group of Stecher, LaDue, Ausmus, Thompson, Poolman, and Wolanin.

  9. Looking for a skilled top 9 who would you say fits in that group? Gaber, Blake, McLaughlin, James, and Perron for sure. I think Schmaltz is in their but you'd like to see his speed improve. Caulfield I think too. Strinden? Kunz? Emerson? Do we maybe look to the portal to add another skill type center?

That 4th line with more a heavy focus I think is clear Jamernik, Portz, and Ness fit that. Not sure where Montgomery fits or if you can count on him at all.

Anyone know of Owen Leach of DGF was recruited by UND? Best talent in the FM/surrounding area. Going to UMD.

Watched him in the section championship and quarters last night and he is an absolute steal for Duluth. Summit teams should've been all over him.

Haider - G - Clarkson to the portal. 6'3", NSH Pick, Solid numbers. Originally from MN. Is this the new #1 Goalie target? 1A 1B with Persson? @stoneySIOUX what do we think? Excited about this one.

    YES PLEASE!

Immediately moves to the top of my list. I really wanted him back when he was in high school and couldn't understand how Clarkson ended up with him.

Have you watched them ruin MLB with their “City Connect” softball uniforms?

I'm a big Nike guy and they do a lot of really good NFL, NBA, MLB, and College unis but yes a couple of the city connects like the Padres and Rockies I hate and some of the NBA city ones are pretty bad as well, I can't stand the Timberwolves current sets they'd be so much better if they went back to their 90's style with a lighter blue and that green.

A great game followed by a long slide.  It showed our potential and what possibly could have been. We expected a team like this for the season and a top 5 team nationally.

A big part of it was also Motzko playing and trusting his young guys full of potential in big roles and allowing them to make mistakes then and learn/grow from it. We took advantage of some of those mistakes and converted on PPs. Also we basically stole that game as Minnesota seemed to be playing at a different speed and the shots finished like 40-20.

So Fanatics to be the new jersey supplier for the NHL, will UND go with Fanatics now?

I really wish they would go back to Nike but don't see that happening as I believe the school Adidas uniform deal goes through 24.

Berry has to adapt to the newer style of play. Plain and simple. He has to let the skill players play and deal with some of the D breakdowns/learning curve. He has a couple skill guys coming in, they both have to play. If we stick with this chip and chase style of play I’m afraid he won’t make it another year or two.

Look at Minnesota this year they had some rough moments defensively with some of their young forwards but you have to accept it and let them grow through it.They might give up an opportunity but they are gonna generate a heck of a lot offensively too.

If we're gonna pick up a dman out of the portal, Koch or Bengtsson are intriguing.  Especially Bengtsson with two years of eligibility remaining.

More pressing is the goalie situation...here are the current goalies in the portal:

    • Chad Veltri, sr, Niagara, 18-16-3, 2.78, .906
    • Luke Lush, sr, Sacred Heart, 14-16-3, 2.69, .899
    • Seth Eisele, sr, Lake Superior State, 3-9, 2.86, .913
    • Zack Rose, sr, Bowling Green, 3-1, 3.44, .891
    • Ben Kraws, sr, Arizona State, 3-0, 2.19, .926
    • Kolby Matthews, sr, RIT, 3-2, 2.82, .904
    • Connor Hopkins, jr, Yale, 0-4, 5.23, .814
    • Ethan Roberts, fr, St. Thomas, 0-2, .869, 4.53
    • Francis Boisvert, sr, St. Lawrence, 0-0, .938, 3.70
    • Henry Baribeau, sr, St. Thomas, 0-0, 1.000, 0.00

I was hoping for the other goalie from ASU to be in the portal and for us to make a run at him.

Eisele is a big goalie I kinda remember him in high school at Stillwater
