I thought he was more football than hockey...in which case he definitely would get the hell out of Minnesota.

Yeah if he is playing QB he doesn't have many options in Minnesota because he hasn't looked B1G level, for that matter Minnesota has had their 2026 QB commit since last summer.

He played at Miami. He left midseason after Miami coach stepped down in the middle of the season

My mistake, once Iowa fired Fran it was pretty well known he wanted to come back home but there wasn't any interest from Minnesota so St. Thomas was the logical landing spot.

St Thomas just signed a player that played Iowa and Miami.   I hope we can get a couple of those type players.

Technically he didn't play at either place. Was a redshirt freshman this year at Miami, left at semester and practiced with Iowa for the rest of their season.

Schloss was told by several scouts that Simpson needs a full year of junior before coming in. Schultz should be mostly ready.

Recently or back in the fall? Simpson really made a jump this year in his all around game and after Schultz I'd bring him in next of the options.

I would think based on numbers we will probably have to bring in one of or maybe two of Schultz, Simpson, Pilgram and O'Neil but I would say O'Neil would be the least ready at this point. Ideally they all play another year of juniors though.

I may be in the minority but I would not be opposed at all to bringing in Schultz and Simpson.

Didn't stop Herter from being named a finalist.  Maybe he'll head over once WMU's season is over.

Big difference between an assistant being listed for a potential head job compared to another head coach being listed publicly.

  7. Certainly wasn’t my first choice. Disappointing to see like a UND/GF tie was requirement to be a finalist. No Barr or Raboin are disappointing but not sure they’d let it out if they were finalist due to effect on their current job. Hope for the best under Jackson but need to see a lot of change.

  8. So I've seen some mention the applicant list and who applied, is the way a coaching search works at North Dakota different then many other places? Isn't a AD just able to target who they want and try to negotiate a deal with them without needing a pool of applicants. Like I know Minnesota fired basketball coach Ben Johnson on March 12th and by like 10AM March 13th Coyle had a deal with Niko Medved even though Colorado State just lost on Sunday. Couldn't Chaves call Barr and get a deal done and whenever Maine loses it is announced.

I brought him up in another thread but since this is fully dedicated to the New Coach. This one would be in my top 3 for sure at this point.

Todd Knott (pronounced Kuh-NOT) joined the Badger coaching staff as associate head coach in April 2023.

The 2023 American Hockey Coaches Association's Terry Flanagan Award winner for his career body of work as an assistant coach, Knott spent the prior 11 seasons on Hastings' staff at Minnesota State, first as an assistant coach, before becoming associate head coach in 2018. He spent 14 years total at Minnesota State.

Ranked the No. 1 college hockey recruiter by a panel of NHL scouts, USHL executives, agents and other college coaches according to The Athletic in the fall of 2022, Knott was key in helping Minnesota State to eight NCAA tournament appearances over 11 seasons, as well as a pair of NCAA Frozen Four trips and an NCAA runner-up finish.

As a coaching partner with new head coach Mike Hastings at Minnesota State, Knott's collegiate coaching resume mimics UW's bench boss, with eight conference regular-season titles and four conference tournament titles over the 11 seasons. That also included 11 consecutive 20-win seasons and three 30-win campaigns.

Knott is simply the best in the business," once source said to The Athletic in the college coach recruit rankings. "He can identify and recruit talent as well as anyone. He's honest and relentless in his effort."

Before his time at Minnesota State, Knott coached in the USHL beginning in 2005 as associate head coach for Des Moines, helping the team win the Clark Cup in his first season. He moved on to become head coach and general manager in Sioux City before joining the Mavericks.

Prior to the USHL, Knott served one season as assistant coach and one as head coach for the NAHL's Fargo-Moorhead Jets, helping the team win a regular-season championship and the West Division playoff title. They finished as Tier II runners up that same 2004-05 campaign.

Knott's collegiate playing career spanned 1998 through 2002 at Bemidji State where he earned his physical education degree in 2002.

Knott's family includes his wife, Angie, and their daughters Allie and Baylee, as well as their son, Jackson.

Good guy, from my hometown originally and know his family well. Coulda had the Mankato job but opted to go with Hastings.

  10. Some names of the top of my head and not necessarily all would be head coach guys but more so intrigued to have with the next staff.

UND guys-Matt Smaby, Colten St. Clair, Bryn Chyzk

Non-UND-Nick Fohr USNTDP(GF native), Garrett Raboin, Mike Hastings

  11. That ref crew really struggled today especially late, no consistency.

East side deserved to win that game, played really well and inches away from that being a 4-1 game with the posts.

EGF's willingness to roll 3 lines and at least 4 D for the most part showed up while Cathedral leaned on those top 2 lines and Sturm heavy the last 2 days.
