  1. Notre Dame "walked away" because the NCHC refused to give them what they exactly what they wanted, which is what Notre Dame is accustomed to. It had nothing to do with them not wanting to be in the conference and everything to do with how their TV rights and revenue share was handled.
  2. At this point, Vegas will likely be a permanent second or third stop in the rotation (every 4-6 years), for a handful of reasons, with ease of travel, entertainment options being two of them along with a very large donor who resides there.
  3. In school and working to get on the field next fall. Needs to keep his head in the books but solid chance to be back.
  4. I'd mostly agree. Still might lose a few "diamonds in the rough" but I see that as a fair compromise. In the Summit/MVFC/Big Sky there have been impact true freshman that I could see still being poached but not a ton.
  5. Agree with all of them outside of this one. Again, leans too close to the "minor league" system if someone shows up on campus and has a great first year or two and then is off to a bigger school. I completely understand the angle you are coming from on this one but I wouldn't change the transfer rule on this one.
  6. I like removing some restrictions but this would just further makes low and mid level colleges the minor leagues for the big schools.
  7. Altru formed in 1997 when United Health and GF Clinic merged. Pretty sure Ryan was the CEO at inception. Seems like an odd shot at Brown. The mayor thing is a stretch as well. Not a fan of plenty he has or hasn't done but it's not like he's had much for formidable challengers, that isn't exactly his fault.
  8. Agreed. Unfortunately it was venue driven.
  9. That's what happens when your commissioner is incompetent....
  10. I would assume whoever was behind it, regardless of their identity, deleted it because someone was digging into who they were. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't? But if the phone number is the only evidence linking it, I'm a bit skeptical. For reference, I have 5 or 6 numbers in my contact list ending with "71" (note, I scrutinized each one to make sure they weren't the culprit). It wasn't like members of the athletic department weren't notified of the situation, considering they were all tagged by whoever created the account and made the original posts. We'll see what comes of it.
  11. So the connection to JW is both phone numbers tied to the separate accounts end in 71? Or am I missing something else? The email addresses appear to be different. Seems like a stretch for an accusation, though I'd guess someone had a reason to look towards him?
  12. But the higher taxes are typically due to increased property values, not an increase in actual mill rates. Which theoretically is a good thing, though if course no one enjoys paying more taxes. Some small businesses have legitimate complaints as things like this can increase their rents. For example, rents downtown will likely go up as more people move there and activity picks up. Ideally it's offset by higher revenues and profits but not always the case, plus they have to survive through some of the construction phases that can be devastating.
  13. I'm fine with tax incentive financing if it means projects get moving sooner than later (or never in most cases). It's a solid long-term investment option to help growth. And it isn't "giving something away", you can't give away what you never had, in this case, increased tax revenues. The city is foregoing a period (usually 5 years) of the increased taxes for the future increases to the tax roll.
  14. It also only asks "favorite" team. There are plenty of NDSU Football/UND hockey fans. Unimaginable to me but to each there own. I'd guess a portion fo the MInnesota sports fans also would be fans of some ND teams as well. Basically it doesn't really prove or show anything other than ~1/3 of sports fans who responded think NDSU is fine where they are, ~1/3 want them to move up and the other ~1/3 doesn't know or really care.
  15. I know McFeely used these survey results as clickbait but just want to point out the numbers here are so insignificant it's almost comical. The overall sample size was 500. However the sports questions were only asked to those who identified as sports fans (56% or 277 of respondents per the study). They claim the margin of error is +/- 5.9% on that portion which seems pretty low given the sample size and method of collection (voluntary phone surveys), but I guess they are the "experts" and can't see their entire cross selection and methodology. Though with some of the predictions they have had in the past compared to actual results..... Note this out of 500 total respondents, meaning around half of the people surveyed really don't care enough to answer or literally don't have an opinion despite being a sports fan. FCS # PPL Stay FCS 36% 100 Move FBS 30% 83 Don't Care 29% 80 Unsure 5% 14 Favorite Team # PPL NDSU 41% 114 UND 27% 75 Vikings 18% 50 Twins 8% 22 Timberwolves 1% 3 Unsure 5% 14 Favorite Team FCS #PPL FBS #PPL Don't Care #PPL Unsure #PPL NDSU Football 48% 55 27% 31 21% 24 3% 3 UND Hockey 22% 16 40% 30 37% 28 2% 1 MN Pro Team 30% 22 26% 19 34% 25 9% 7
  16. I'm not saying I agree with all the picks. In fact, quite surprised by at least a few of them to be honest. That being said, it was media members who made the votes, not UND. I'm not going to rip on UND for trying to give some players some promotion for something under normal circumstances that they would have gotten. I don't think it was a competition between teammates, it was a hypothetical question given to a group of media members on where they would have voted UND players if they were in a hypothetical conference. Without a doubt, they should have done a better job explaining how it was done and what the criteria was for each level.
  17. Or they did something to give acknowledgement to players who were deserving and didn't have an outlet to recieve recognition for their play by no fault of their own? They took a pool of local (GF/Fargo) and national media and asked them where they would have put players if UND had been in a conference. UND didn't make the votes, they just took some effort to organize and promote some of the players. What a terrible thing to do.
  18. He is chair of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. That has literally absolutely nothing to do with anything outside of ranking and picking teams for the College Footbal Playoffs along with the NY6 Bowls. On top of that, committee members only serve 3 year terms and Barta is entering his 2nd year, he is done in February 2022. Even if NDSU were to move FBS (someday), he'd be long gone before they joined. This connection is a leap even for you.
  19. Probably also need to take into account that in Schuster's limited action, he had the same limitations the handcuffed Studrud a lot of his career: If he went down, they were really in trouble with no one to come in, so the play calling was done with that in mind. I think with 3 (hopefully) viable options, play calling will be wide open and the QB will be able to make more plays out of the pocket and with their legs.
  20. My guess is that number might be high, but with the youth at QB and athleticisim BB has shown, it makes a ton of sense to install more packages for him that they can mix into normal play calling. Having all 3 QB's in school right now and be able to participate in spring ball is absolutely huge for the offense. Sounds like all 3 have the right attitude going into it and it is truly an open competition. They are each slightly different QB's, so that makes the whole thing even more intriguing. Obviously there is a general idea of what they have on campus but it is going to take at least through spring ball to figure out what they have with the two new guys.
  21. Unless its going to fall over on its own, I don't think anything is imminent at this point in time. Still missing a big donor or two for HPC2.0
  22. Not ruling it out if he wasn't injured his true freshman year, just seems different than how it normally works. But who knows with the NCAA.
  23. I'm curious on that. Typically you only get a medical if you lose two years to injury or if you didn't redshirt and only played minimally one of your 4 years due to injury (which doesn't apply). Was he hurt his redshirt year (2017/18)?
  24. Plausible I guess? But no clue where its "residing" at. https://fightinghawks.com/news/2013/6/6/208168361.aspx This video shows them being pretty careful around the main structure as well:
  25. Unfortunately, they have continued on what most would deem an unrealistic pace for an extended period of time. It is now realistic until it isn't...
