    FREE SIOUXROCK

I think my IQ went up 14 points when I saw siouxrock was banned I will miss the dribble though... occaisionally ?he? made a good point. Hopper: You're ok by me. I don't get over upset at people saying negative things about the Gophers. Good teams draw significant heat, and good teams also have some arrogant fans start flying out of the word work and ask for what they get. I think a lot of Gopher fans reap what they sow.

    Sejna/St. Louis

Don't they have to trim the roster for the playoffs? Probably can't carry him and keep the rest of their roster. Or else, they had every intention of putting him into the AHL and today was just a chance for him to see some action?

    Sejna/St. Louis

I can't say I'm sorry to see him go. Great player, just glad we won't have to face him anymore!! I hope this doesn't hurt his Hobey chances by leaving before its picked.
  4. I have to believe that Hale will be back. He missed a significant portion of the season, and with the NHL concerns coming up, I can't see why they'd want to take such a chance on right now. But, if I were Hale and the offer was there, I'd take it. Who knows if jt will still be there next year if his problems keep recurring.
  5. This thread has died..... Maybe if we put siouxrock and yellowdog in a locked room together they'll take of each other out and save the rest of us All in good fun you guys, all in good fun.
  6. Let's be fair about this... the numbers for both UND and the Gophers are sell-out numbers. The Sioux drew more, but the arena is bigger. We can't out draw UND if we don't the seats to put people in. BOTH teams have good fans who buy the seats right now. I don't think you can say one is better than the other if both are selling out. We could argue over butts in the seats all night long and never agree... going straight on attendance both teams are doing 100% Team Home Att. Home Dates Avg. Home Att. 1. Wisconsin 236,140 20 11,807 2. North Dakota 194,745 17 11,456 3. Minnesota 220,698 22 10,032
  7. Another Sioux fan was complaining about all the Gopher banter on this board, and here's a Sioux fan digging for more Its not Gopher fans who are fair weather fans (and this wouldn't even apply as they're on a tear right now anyway), but Minnesota fans. As a Bear's fan I could get tickets to the Bears/Vikings game every year until 1999. Now, all of a sudden in 2002 I was able to again. Coincidence? The Twins drew how many fans a game before mid 2001? Other cities have the same problem as well, but it does seem to be a fair weather fan market in Minnesota on all fronts. Even the Wild who are still experiencing sell outs get quite a few empty seats on non-big team games. To the Gophers defense, typically on a Saturday in the Twin Cities you have som many different things going on that its hard to fill all the venues. I.E. the NCAA basketball regional final conflicted with the Gopher game. Basketball unfortunately is still more popular than hockey.
  8. Thanks! I couldnt' remember. I didn't like Anaheim that much either. The weather was great, but there just wasn't a college hockey atmosphere. I thought I'd seen them in a Frozen Four, maybe not. Your start to forget the teams and just assume that either Michigan or BC/BU was there.
  9. I agree, if he was all that and wanted to stay in the East I'd think he'd be going to a BC or BU, and if he's really into the NE then Maine. Not that Vermont's a program to laugh at, they've done well for themselves at times. Wasn't it '99 they were in the Frozen Four? Maine, UNH, Vermont and someone else wasn't it?
  10. I wasn't suggesting it had, just what the article said about this year's team. Just wanted to get that in before someone though some dumb Gopher fan was running off at the mouth... I may be a dumb Gopher fan but I wasn't running off at the mouth (this time).
  11. Well, it started out being about the article someone wrote in the NDSU student paper about the fall of UND hockey. Then it kind of got moved to a NDSU vs. UND thing. The original intent was discussing a school without hockey bashing a school about their hockey team. Rather humurous if you consider the excellent grammar skills and quality of research in the NDSU article.
  12. I assume your talking about Travis Roche? He's down with the Houston Aeros, their top AHL team. He had an assist in their last game. He's got 64 games in 14 goals and 34 assists according to their website. 7 power play goals and 3 game winners, not horrible. www.aeros.com
  13. Ok, I admit it, I saw the SiouxBoard thread on POI, and how could I not come take a look. Now that I'm here, I like the layout and most of the topics. What do you do... go where the conversation is. Plus, I've learned that the off-season discussions can be better than those where the team is still playing. This is in no way meant to be a rib against UND, its just that right now on POI all threads are about things other than the general game of hockey right now. Over hear people are actually discussing hockey things, who's going to win the Hobey, which players are better, etc.
  14. I would hope Sejna wins as well. I also thought Brian Gionta (Sp?) should have won the year Miller did. Of the three, I think Sejna done the most for his team. I was somewhat surprised Parise wasn't a finalist. I bet that's not the case next year if he puts up another great season. I guess I didn't expect Kunitz to be a finalist. I did think CC having two candidates might hurt Senja, glad it didn't.
  15. On POI I posted that the article was a good read. Had it been written by someone with any level of intelligence I think it really could have been good. But apparently they don't even have "grammar check" in Fargo? how many different ways can you misuse the word to/too/two in one sentence? I thought it was humorous but couldn't take it too (or is that two?) seriously. My cousins graduated from NDSU so I've always tried to like them. But, really once I went to school for myself they pretty much fell off of my radar. This is kind of off the subject, but do you Sioux fans really dislike Minnesota that much or is more just a hockey rivalry thing done in fun? Since we don't compete in any other sport would you still root for other school over us in say football or basketball or whatever? I mean, our football program is more comical than anything.
  16. This is all well and good, but paper really doesn't matter. I expected Denver to run the table this year. I expected SCSU to finish in the top 3 or 4. I expected the Gophers to be jockeying for home ice in the 1st round of the WCHA's. What matters is the actualy season played. On paper the Gophers look good. To finish #2 in the league, be in the Frozen Four, currently #2 in the country (USA Today 3/31). But injuries, early leavers, etc. could make huge changes. I sure hope we're better. But I don't know that I want to tear through the league like CC did, look where it got them! The only recent team I can remember (in the past 5-6 years) to tear through the league and win everything would be........ oh year, UND in 1997. That's an accomplishment! Win the league, league tourney, and the NCAA. At least we stole a share of the league!

    Frozen 4

I did indeed cheer for Ferris State. I always cheer for what's best for the Gophers. UND is too familiar with the Gophers and the arena. Playing Ferris, in my opinion, was better for the Gophers in terms of odds of winning. It had nothing to do with not liking the Sioux (ok, 90% had nothing to do with not liking the Sioux )
  18. You don't think we listen to you talk about "7 Championshsips, how many do you have?" at every opportunity? Let's be honest, some fans are indeed arrogant (for all teams) and some aren't (for all teams). I actually believe UNH may win this whole thing. They're the dark horse, but the way they've handled BU the past 3 times, there may be a surprise there.
  19. Finalist, sure... Top 3, probably not WIN it, no. He's had a great yea, carried the Sioux at times but I don't think any Freshman should win it. I think a player should show dedication to himself and his team. Giving it to Freshman would make it too easy to leave after only 1 year. Also, his numbers did slide a little in the 2nd half, so have him back next year and hopefully he'll produce as much as this year and win it in 2004. Good luck either way. I think Peter Sejna may have it, admitting I'm not real familiar with the East candidates.
  20. This is meant to be your honest vote on who you think will win, not who you WANT to win. Be objective.
  21. I think I'll root for the Gophers now... Laugh with me folks, people take these boards too seriously.

    Goophers

I can't believe how much discussion this topic generates. I am a Gopher fan through and through and am perfectly fine with you "loathing" the Gophers, I actually take it as a compliment. Do you loathe UMD or Mich. Tech? Probably not, the Gopher fans sure don't. Heck we were cheering for UMD this season. Why? Because they're not an immediate threat. We don't hate or spend time discussing those we don't fear. All of your opinions are exactly what makes rivalries a rivalry. Go ahead and hate the Gophers, I'd be worried if people didn't. But, Sioux_11, I do have to say, it is a bit short-sighted to think that Minnesota controls the tournament placements. The WCHA Final 5 is in MN for two reasons, 1) money and 2) location. It is central to the WCHA (more so than anywhere else). And, I dare say that in a game that puts the Gophers against another MN team, we don't hold the crowd advantage necessarily. And if we do, its certainly not our fault that people in St. Cloud or Mankato won't make the 1 1/2 hour drive to support their team. I got tickets to the WCHA Final the day before the game so any fan of any school could have certainly gone. If you honestly would prefer the Final 5 be back in Milwaukee so its twice as far for your fans to go, then so be it. And us hosting the 2002 Frozen Four was a fluke, its not like we're in it every year and we knew we'd be there back when we were awarded the tournament. Michigan hosts the regionals way more often then we do and have used it to their advantage more so than the Gophers. If you're going to make an argument, at least try to be a little objective. And yes, I did root for the Sioux in 1997 and 2000 at the Frozen Four. I admit to rooting for BC in 2001 as I thought they deserved the win after so many years of just missing. As a general rule, I support the WCHA if the Gophers are not present (and DO mean it when I say it). My brother-in-law rooted for us last year (he's from UMD) and you can bet had CC made it and beat us in the semi's I'd have rooted for them.
