  1. Without a roof, the attendance would be an issue. A bigger issue might be the recruiting gains we've made lately. I doubt if we would continue getting the CA/TX players once they visit in January. Phase II of the indoor practice facility goes right to the east side of Memorial, so the plan is to obviously keep the structure or at least the site. With practice indoors, MAYBE an outdoor stadium wouldn't hurt recruiting, but it would still impact late-season attendance. So if Mr. F could write the check for enough to include 25,000 seats and a roof I think everyone would be happy. (If he does it soon we could let him pick the new nickname) (Maybe not Eskimos) Edit: Fixed the Dan Quayle spelling.
  2. I didn't realize they were in a league of their own. Maybe room for UND in the MVFC once people discover that. I'm still working on the math. 8-game conference schedule, so the cupcake counts as a conference win?
  3. Can anyone tell me what kind of prices the tickets usually go for on the secondary market? Frozen 4 is on my bucket list.
  4. Probably a similar timeline to the Bison Sports Arena remodel.
  5. Construction starts spring 2011. Will be ready for spring football in 2012. And the donor's identity will irritate our little friends to the south.
  6. Kelley and Faison had a meeting Monday with the main donors for Phase I of the indoor facility. Not sure if they could get construction started this fall or not.
  7. Congrats to the Aggies on their 6th bridge building championship. [Non-sarcastic statement]
  8. MPLS, we know you are big on citing sources. Most people here are open-minded enough to change their minds based on facts. Sic cited some research that concluded the number is 83%. You admit to 70% of the voted, but seem to imply it would be much lower if everyone had voted. Could you direct us to the research that says the opinions of the non-voters would be significantly different?
  9. I don't think there's any lynch mob waiting for you here. Facts and common sense work for me. It's easy to make this into an NDSU-UND thing, but it isn't really. The supporters of both universities and the taxpayers of North Dakota deserve to know the truth and get it cleaned up. If there was something criminal on either side it should be dealt with* * Unless MPLS says there was nothing criminal.
  10. That may be true. I don't know. Also, you don't know. The projects were just independently audited. If the auditors told the attorney general and the SBoHE "100% positive nothing criminal happened", this story would not be happening. Obviously one of those parties has reason to believe that that something criminal may have happened. The UND project is included in this, so selling this as a conspiracy would sound foolish. If you're so sure about this, shouldn't you be begging for this investigation to clear Chappy's name? Unrelated question - what was the issue with the Bison Sports Arena?
  11. This sounds like a niche activity. We should get some outside opinions on whether these championships count.
  12. With Lakesie and the Ag College, you really don't need to make anything up. You've been in fine form on B-ville lately, also After one post, Shawn-O called it "That train-wreck of a blog". If you don't care to visit his blog, here's what you need to know: Minnesota fishing opener is this weekend. Twins are going to play the Yankees. And as this blog title states: he rocks, and you suck.
  13. Now there is a new spot to get all the latest, correct news on the Agricultural College http://www.areavoices.com/lakesbison/
  14. Used to have a neighbor that was always telling "woman" jokes. Still remember this one: What do you say to a woman with 2 black eyes? Nothing, you've already told her twice.
  15. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/277730/ However, adding new policies may not be the answer because some violations were intentional, said board President Richie Smith. The audit showed that North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota circumvented policies to avoid getting approval for president
  16. Keep repeating that. Maybe someone will believe you. The problem with any oversight is that people at the top of the organization can subvert it, at least for awhile. My opinion is that oversight is more effective when a crook is not running the organization.
  17. Under the category -Fighting Sioux football -Single reception that changed an important game: 1) Mike Voelker at Augustana 1979, td catch at the end after UND trailed most of the game. 2) Jim Kleinsasser at NDAC 1998, catch and long run for td late in the game to seal it. I did feel bad for the home crowd though. 3) Chad Mustard vs. Pittsburg State in 2001 playoff. I don't think it was a touchdown but it pretty much started the party. ** 4) Luke Schleusner vs Grand Valley State in 2001 title game, down to the 2 yard line with seconds left. ** I've been to 4 World Series games and NFC title game in the dome, Final 4, Packers @ Favre 2009, etc. The 2001 playoff games against Pittsburg and UC Davis were as loud as any of those games. It can happen again. PS - we should recruit receivers with names that are easier to spell.
  18. For his trusty sidekick, I am proposing the nickname of Gene "Scorched Earth" Taylor
  19. I've got a Reward Zone card. It doesn't help you accumulate points unless you visit a cash register.

    2010 Season

Both UND and SDSU have November 20th open. Not the best time to have a game in Brookings but it will work. Their schedule is brutal early @Delaware, @Nebraska, @UNI, @SIU. They may be lucky to be 3-4 after the Youngstown game.
  21. When all the pissing and moaning is done, UND and NDSU will be playing football on a (semi?) regular basis. If both sides can look at the big picture, I think it can be played this year, a one-time agreement and work on the future later. Here's my current assumptions: 1) UND and NDSU both have 10 games scheduled. Neither has a common open date. This leaves money on the table and makes both AD's look foolish. 2) If they don't find an 11th game by May 15, they're probably not going to. Everyone agree on that? 3) Let's say a Fargodome game grosses $400,000 less $75,000 expenses, $325,000 net. (Gate plus concessions, etc). Important note: Let's not argue about money...just what sounds fair to me: The first $25,000 goes to commissioning and producing a new trophy to replace the Nickel in the future. The remaining is split 3 ways: $100,000 to UND. More than they would get from staying home. Same as NDSU might pay to bring someone else in. $100,000 to NDSU. At least as much as they'd get from playing an away FCS guaranty game, again more than not playing. $100,000 to be applied to Coach Bohl's buyout. (I kid, Bisonville. NDSU keeps it and gets even further ahead of UND!). Here's the part I need some backup on. (Hammersmith?) Last year UND played Central Arkansas Thanksgiving weekend. The FCS playoffs started that day. There wasn't anything stopping the game except the playoffs, and neither was eligible. At least that's how I understood it. The Ivy League maybe also plays that weekend? So here's the proposal: 1) If by May 15 neither team has an 11th game, the AD's sign an conditional agreement to play the day after Thanksgiving. Bison get in the playoffs, the game disappears. Bison getting in the playoffs would be the only way the game doesn't happen. 2) On Black Friday, the women go shopping at 5:00 a.m. The men start tailgating at 5:30 a.m. Some Bison run to Best Buy to "pick up a few things" (Sorry). So assuming this would be allowed, who would have a (rational) argument against it? Both teams get 11th game, NDSU gets 6th home game, $100,000 for UND, $200,000 for NDSU, huge party (with economic activity) all weekend in Fargo. I'll even be nice to Lakesie (after he recovers from his breakdown). Gene Taylor, Brian Faison: You're welcome.
  22. Now you're playing dumb, Lakesie?
  23. I'm not getting audited. Maybe UND is. If UND did something wrong, heads should roll. If the Ag College did something wrong, heads should roll. My house wasn't over. I used my UND budgeting skills.
  24. Did you notice I asked in the "Community" section? There are other reasons people would be interested in the audit other than athletics. I call them "North Dakota taxpayers". I take it you feel "some audits" won't be a problem for the Aggies?
  25. The SBoHE meets next Wednesday in Mayville. Does anyone know when the audit was supposed to be completed/presented?
