Nov. 21st Headline "Blaisers New Team Sweeps Old Team"
phriq replied to lomackman's topic in Men's Hockey
Agreed. I may take alot of flak for this too, but I am not fully convinced yet that UNO has been truly challenged. Don't get me wrong, they are looking really good, but there is alot of season and alot of good teams. I think, pending on what the Sioux do in Wisconson (specifically defensively and in net) that the Sioux should be able to split with UNO. None the less, it will be a fun series. -
I would absolutely hate to see what the film studies classes of UNA and UM could do in collaboration. They should do a paradoy on both the films together!
-
Im guessing they look at the overall schedule. Our schedule second half shouldn't be as bad as the first half. I think uno has a tough schedule, but they are just, in my opinion, getting in to it.
-
From what I've seen, I think dell has showed more consistantcy than Eidsness. Its been dissapointing watching our goals as of late, they have seemed more like defensive breakdowns than fault of the goalie.
-
Agreed! You also have to look at stregth of schedule. Nebraska Omaha has not had a challenging schedule thus far. Same with norte dame.

Does anyone know if Malone will be playing Friday? I have been watching wcha.com and some of the league news, but haven't heard anything. I would assume he would be playing simply because the hit "appeared" to be clean. However, I know after most of those game misconducts they end up following up with a game suspension. Has anyone heard anything on this?

I do not mean any disrespect to Martin as I do hope he make a fast and full recovery and can get a waiver to play out a "full" senior year with the Pioneers. However, I do agree with what you are same. From what I saw, the series at Maine was a joke. They were calling penalties left and right on hits that would have been nothing in the WCHA. I saw the hit (from TV) on Martin and thought right away "WOW! What a GOOD HIT!". In my opinion from my experience and knowledge of the game, it was a CLEAN hit. The refs thought this initially too. However, after Martin did not get up, then they decided to give him a major penalty. It is sad to see that the game where "hard" hitting is allowed is now being scaled to "hit only as hard as the other person will allow". If Martin would have got back up right away I don't think there would have been any question on this being a clean hit or not, the game would have continued. It's hard to watch the sport I love change for what I feel is the worse. Again though, I do hope Martin recovers fast. It sucked to watch Genoway struggle and it sucks to watch any other GOOD hockey player get injured. My thoughts are with him.

Just to be clear, if we live in Fargo and have DirecTV, there is NO WAY to get the games unless we have rabbit ears and a off-air reciever? If yes, does anyone know if any bars in Fargo will be carrying the game?
-
I agree a little more with this order than the other one. I think Minnesota (though I despise them) had a fluke year last year and will finish at least in the top half. DU I think will be good, but has suffered HUGE losses that I think will push them a little lower. Duluth will be a good team again this year.

Hey everyone, I just read the article about the Sioux games for the Kendall Hockey Classic in Alaska being televised on FSSN. Does anyone know if FCS will be broadcasting these as well so Direct TV users can pick up the games? If the games will not be on Direct TV, does anyone know of any Fargo or West Fargo bars/restaurants that have Midco so I can watch the games there? Thanks

This is something I have been waiting for FOREVER! If they could do this for NHL 11 it would be awesome. I knew they would never make an independant NCAA Hockey gme, but have always thought they should roll it into the NHL series. They have the AHL in NHL 10, they can just add more levels of progression for create a players or franchises. I just hope they are able to do this before the Sioux name change. Even though I will remain hopeful in that if even the name changes, the will keep the sioux jerseys as alternate jerseys. Its a NHL game, they dont have NCAA rules to follow..... And they better due the Ralph the justice it deserves P.S. For all of you who have NHL 10, Check out this custom cover I found! I replaced my original with this.

I was at the game last night. From where I was sitting, the U20 team just looked hungrier, more energized and more of a team. Which supprised me since they haven't been together for all that long. UND's PP looked extremely disorganized and frantic. UND's best play didn't come till there was about 5 minutes left on the clock. Had this game mattered for anything, I would have been fuming leaving the Ralph. Since it was exebition, I am glad that we have time to focus on the mishaps. Kristo in my opinion did seem like a star for the U20 team. He looked REALLY good. Always fast and at the puck. He is going to be such a huge asset to the Sioux the rest of this year and in later years. I just hope he doesn't leave for bigger and better TOO early. Eidsness I thought looked pretty good. Dell looked alright, but the goals he let in seemed pretty soft. We really need to work on our defense and not let odd man rushes or break aways. There were quite a few times where our D would try to bump the U20 player off the puck, miss the check or be to slow and have the U20 player blow around our guy. It was good to see some of the freshman who normally don't suit up, play. I do believe the Sioux are over-rated this year. Not trying to dog on our team we love, just being honest. We are a very young team. next year, and even in two years, they really will be a force you will not want to reckon with. On a side note, does anyone else think that Kristo slightly debated shooting on the empty net?

Does anyone know if there is video of the puck hitting the netting or was anyone watching the game online or in the stands to honestly say one way or another whether it hit the netting? I am just curious. Thanks.

I never got to see the game, so I am unable to say what I felt about the officiating. I did watch both Sioux/DU games, so I can say I don't at all trust WCHA officials. None the less, it's really hard to swallow a "contriversial" loss again. Especially when the outcome pushes us to 6th in the WCHA when a win would have put us tied for second. This team better have another good run after Christmas and next week again Wisconsin, or we are in some trouble. On the bright side, with the WCHA top teams being SO close, it only takes a few sweeps to put us right back on top. I know you hope for sweeps at home and splits on the road, but this is the WCHA, which I believe to be the toughest and greatest league in college hockey by far. In this league splits away and sweeps at home won't cut it. YOU NEED WINS CONSISTANTLY. UND has not been capitalizing when they should. Regardless of good/bad officiating (which I personally believe is TERRIBLE officiating), we need to win and not give up these terrible loses.

Wow, That bad taste is gunna remain in the mouth all week.
-
Wow, the public address butchered those names.
-
It must be tough to not start a game to 10 pm our time though. But wow, lets at least get 1 so we have some kind of momentum or next week.
-
That almost looked like a checking from behind over a cross check.

14 is hardly a typical sioux games worth.
