  1. Amazing. More proof that Daschle is a self-centered, and largely out-of-touch, Dasch-Hole. God rest and keep the souls of Keith and Ken, and of all our our men and women who fall in the name of freedom. Why can't we ever get a crowd at an REA game to drown out the guest singer of the National Anthem? That would be way cool.
  2. I think that the Sioux women's team will do just fine as they develop over the years. The coaching staff seems to be solid and the facilities will, of course, speak for themselves. I've been to a game at REA, where some goalie named Maggie stood on her head to beat Mankato in a low-scoring game. At the time, Mankato was ranked. Back in November or so. Then, we went to Ridder Arena, where the #1 Gophettes pounded the Sioux 10-1. Maggie was not in goal. Recently, Mankato beat the Gophettes at Ridder, 3-2. Proof that anything can, and often does, happen in hockey. I have gone to these games largely for the benefit of my young daughter. I was surprised at the poor turn-out at the REA, only about 200 fans. Then again, Ridder had only about a thousand. The quality of play is solid. Takes awhile to get used to the no check rule. What surprised me most is that the women's programs do NOT list the weights of the players. Name. Height. Grade. Hometown. Position. No weight! What's with that? Does Title IX permit such a thing? Some woman asked me why it is important that I know the weights of the players. I told her because they are athletes, and that as a fan I like to think that I can judge the size of players from a distance, and that weight does come into play, to a small degree perhaps, in assessing strength, speed, and agility. Oh well. Enough of the women's hockey talk from over here. Maybe someday soon there will be a separate thread for this. Until then, because the game is here to stay, I think that we should all throw our support to the Sioux women whenever and wherever we can, eh?
  3. Geez. A local HDTV cable channel piped in the BeanPot Tourney last night. In High Def. BC looked solid in a 3-1 victory over Haaavaaaad. Boy, those eastern elites are smug. Anyway, watching hockey in high definition is way cool. The puck is right there. Now, I am really kicking myself for stepping away from the halftime show on Sunday night . . . .
  4. I am sure that Pawlenty could have cared less, and as an old hockey player himself, he probably appreciated the chant all the more. At a chess tournament or a piano recital, well then, that is a different story.
  5. Most of what I hear out of the student section is what the courts would call "fighting words." I think that you can put the snuff on fighting words, at least on an individual basis. They'll never put the snuff on the student section. Keep up them there "fighting words" chants. You think that "F*%K THE G&$H#RS" chant when the puck dropped back in November wasn't classic? And intimidating? KupKake is nuts to try and regulate this harmless behaviour. For crying out loud. The guy needs something more constructive to do with his time.
  6. I believe Bruce Brothers mentioned this in his weekly report in the Pioneer Press this morning. Can't recall for sure. If I were still a wagering gal, I'd wager that you won't see this news mentioned in the Star & Sickle. The Parise boys had to have exchanged some solid nods of the head on this one. They are great athletes, are no doubt fine sons, and are integral cogs of this team.
  7. Ditto Farce. Thanks for the read. And the weather report.
  8. Thanks for the reports guys. I do believe that we will load up the jalopy and head towards, and into, God's Country. God willing of course.
  9. Eleven shots. Three goals. Color guy says Sioux Fan in Phoenix coulda closed on that goal. Assuming Genoway and Parise were on the ice with him. Great set up. Slammed it home.
  10. Power play. From the slot. Just like a dunk by the Big Ticket. Not gonna miss it. That's what the Sioux color guy says. Assist to Genoway and Parise. Holy schmoley!!
  11. Bochenski Scores.
  12. Holograms gonna be the end of us someday you know. Gopher fans will be seeing holograms of Sioux fans and skaters coming at them in waves.
  13. Gophers up 2-0 after 1 to Wisconsin. 2-0 Sioux, 8 minutes left first period. End of one, Maine 3, New Hampshire 0 in the battle of the supposed eastern flyweights. This I know because I actually have the CSTV Network game tonight. An HDTV channel is feeding them in. Cripes, the HDTV has the game looking like I'm there!! Wish they'd either be beaming in the Sioux game, or that lady friend of Sioux Fan in Phoenix.
  14. Sheesh that woman is distracting . . . .
  15. Thanks Mr. Clayton Hoyt . . . . 'Tis a good idea you have there. Someday I will come to learn all of the latest technology at our finger tips, and stop trying to figure the weather by stepping outside, looking at the sky, and pointing a wetted finger in different directions. Go Sioux!! All of you going, have fun. Rest of ya, see you around the internet radio feed, eh?
  16. Thanks CRR . . . . If you think of it, give me another post in the morning or so to let me know if she is fizzlin', or intensifyin'.
  17. "Down Here" is the latrine sometimes referred to as the Twin Cities . . . .
  18. We are looking at making the quick cruise on Saturday afternoon for the Saturday night game. The weather mavens down here are talking about a storm system coming from the northwest. I will appreciate if any of you can give me a reasoned word on what you are hearing about the liklihood, and anticipated severity, of a Saturday afternoon storm that might slow traffic on I-94 and I-29. I drive a lousy Ford. Otherwise, I might not be so concerned. Thanks.
  19. Don't forget Billy Stankoven, stellar goalie for the Rube Bjorkman-era of the mid to late 70's.
  20. Sioux Fan In Phoenix . . . . With the temps plunging to their lowest points in a handful of years up around these parts, your avatar lady looks particularly appealing. When, pray tell, will you introduce her to the crowd?
  21. Damn right RedWing. Good job. Let us know if it posts. CSTV. A good idea, but only if they look to the West once in awhile. They did have the Mankato-Denver game earlier this year, but only because it was about the only D-1 game in the country that night.
  22. Naw. I wouldn't give Taylor credit for the solid spelling skills displayed in that scurrilous post. Taylor, like most other UM guys, is in the Genril Kolluge at the U. No aviators over there.
  23. Porter is a huge asset to this team. Only guy stronger on his skates is Stafford, who is a veritable ox. Fast one at that. It is guys like Porter, and about 12-14 other similarly situated teammates, those who get less press but are there day in and day out, shift on and shift off, who will determine whether this damned fine team will in fact become a great team. Porter, and a whole raft of his teammates, are good enough to be the big stars with many other programs. Their reward for skating under the radar here will, hopefully, come in April, and in several more Aprils to come.
