  1. Actually crow doesn't taste that bad! Especially when you have a National Championship in hand! I will admit that I was not a fan of the selection of Mr. Berry when he was selected as the Assistant Coach a few years back. I based my observations on his performance as an NHL Defensive Coach at Columbus. I was wrong. I was also a critic of coach Hakstol. I maintain I was right on that call. In terms of hockey sense Hakstol's virtues go unchallenged - he knows the game! In terms of developing the skills of college aged young men, again unchallenged. But to prepare that same youthful hockey player to "win the big one", well his record speaks for itself. I suspect he will prove that his skills are much more appropriate at the pro level. I witnessed what may be a defining moment in Coach Berry's style last evening, and the media played it big time. He was caught giving one his players a hug between the 2nd and 3rd period and shared how proud he was of his play. He was was asked about it at the end of the game and down played it! Earlier this week the media asked a player to compare the style differences between the head coaches, and I thought I heard the player respond with with Coach Hak you played with the fear of making a mistake, but with Coach Berry you played with the vigor of not wanting to let him down! Kinda says it all! Congratulations to Coach Berry and his coaching staff as well at to the team who demonstrated that they were ready to play!
  2. I will admit to the frustration.. that hit the nail on my head! But it wasn't an easy or convenient retort - I will give you simplistic! Simplistic only because what other reason is there to rationalize (or at least attempt to) the teams performance this weekend. My simplistic response was based upon my simplistic notion that they may not have realized that this was as you say, a big game! Don't get me wrong, I am NOT trying to say (as much as it sounds that way) that they didn't care about winning -albeit, they wanted to win - they just didn't play hard enough to do so. That's like saying we all want to be multimillionaires - but are are we willing to work for it! Nah, not today, I'll have another Bud Lite!
  3. Not sure what's more important - the fans showing up or the team showing up!
  4. Well, that "little less urgency" mentality may equate to squatting on their fans! If all the pundits are correct that ppp (piss poor performance) just moved the team's NCAA first round from MSP to Cinncy! If that happens to be the case, these boys need to understand who's paying the bills, and to play at any point in their hockey career with "a little less urgency" or perhaps a better hockey term is "flat", will be perceived as how little they care for their fans (or those that pay the bills)!
  5. I am concerned that the "we'll get them tomorrow" mentality that Friday/Saturday series' cultivate has bitten us right square in the behind in the past few tournament runs! There is no Saturday night if we don't win on Friday night! I saw something extremely disappointing on Friday. At the conclusion of the game, (within the last few seconds) our players just skated away from the play toward the bench. Given, perhaps it was out of reach, but the Sioux hockey I grew upon on played to win until the last second had ticket away. I heard some at the game say that it really didn't matter - BS it just showed the teams scouting us how vulnerable we are. Every game matters!
  6. I am sure there is a good team in that bus somewhere. They have a very respectable record, won prestigious awards including the coach of the year...but have yet to be potty trained in the BIG games. The team I watched this afternoon definitely were not Sioux quality, and at the risk of being disrespectful - not even Hawk quality! Perhaps more like chickadee quality. How a collection of young men with such skills can play so poorly is beyond words. I am upset right now, I don't wish to take anything away from UMD, but in real terms - we beat them four times this year! Our little leprechauns came out strong - then wet their drawers and ran for cover. Several times I saw them avoid a check, skate past the puck and were generally a step or TWO behind what was supposed to be the inferior team. To blame their performance on the refs, the ice, the building, the city, the price of beer or whatever you choose would merely be enabling such poor performance. Lets hope they can get their game together before the road to the big dance begins!
  7. If Hak publically stated that Danny did not violate any team policy we can finally put the alcohol accusation to rest....at last!
  8. I can speculate that Danny's injury was due to extended exposure to extremely frigid temperatures. However, given that frostbite can occur rapidly when the elements are so harsh I cannot speculate as to why or how long he was exposed. I also believe that if we are concerned about Danny's welfare we take a moment and say a prayer. However, if we are more concerned about the dangers of alcohol and how it affects a young persons judgement, as appears to be the accusatory finger pointed in this thread, then we should take steps to mitigate the same! We have exhaled a lot of hot air since this terrible occurrence, but what are we going to do to insure it doesn't happen again? Danny is not the only friend, room mate, team mate, student that has ventured out on such an ugly night regardless of any ingestion of alcohol, that probably shouldn't have been alone! If you see someone outside when the elements are so harsh - pick them up, if someone ventures outside - follow them, if it's you - take a phone and dress accordingly! I preach the above with sincere wishes that Danny make a speedy and total recuperation.
  9. Greetings, I could use some help. As recently as last month everything was fine...but now not so much! I have a coolsat 7100 receiver and when I look at setup it asks for this information: Satellite: 91w galaxy 11 Frequency: Lnb frequency: And to add a channel it asks me his: Frequency: (this is where I put posted frequency) Symbol rate: I put in 4880 polarity: vertical Video pid: Audio pid: OCR pid: As I said this has worked great up to last night and now I need help, it would be appreciated. Thanks
  10. I refuse to change my name! I don't give a rat's rump what the NCAA thinks! However, it appears that the time has come to move on. I recall telling people that the only computer they would need would be the IBM AT! Like it or not times change. Personnally I think this entire controversy is predicated on pretty shakey grounds, what should not have been a political issue became one. They might be able to take the logo off the jersey, but hopefully the pride still remains! With all due respect to the folks as Red River - I think they have something with the Roughrider mascot. I hope that the NCAA won't find that offensive to the Roosevelt family! The pride of north can also be found in the spirit of the Roughrider! It hurts, but lets keep our focus on the future.
  11. Are saying that on Saturday afternoon we got out-Coached? That doesn't explain the missed penalty shot or the goals that were scored on us>
  12. I have said it before and will say it again - our's is a good hockey team. The problem with that is the biggest barrier to being great - is being good! Not to plagerize the famous book (Good to Great), but it has been proven to be correct time and time agiain in whatever setting you pick. We have been good enough to make it to the NCAA - that is impressive no matter who you think you are, but not great enough to win it all. If we are willing to settle for a good hockey team, hey we have that! However, if we want a great one, we will have to make changes - and I think if HAK makes those changes he will be able to create a great team!
  13. Ours is a good team. We have to dig deep, last week we saw the huskies score a couple in a few minutes - so can we! we have to win every race in the 3rd and play some of that good ole time Sioux hockey!
  14. I have heard enough about Mr. Blais, he had his chance - did good, but chose to move on. To continue to bask in the glory days of his reign only exposes our desire to live in the past. It is time to move on - he did! Coach Hakstal has also been given his chance and judging by the fact that he is still here, the folks that evaluate his performance must find it acceptable. Consequently, their evaluation criteria of his performance must be different from those of us that have chosen to post on this and other similar threads. I happen to think that with the tools in the toolbox of who ever coaches the University of North Dakota hockey team undedrstands that high expectations are appropriate. Consequently, I think that time is NEAR that the opportunity be given to someone who is on their way up the coaching ranks, someone who understands what it means to wear the green, white, black and pink! Someone who understands the high expectations and recruits accordingly, someone who has the ability to translate to his players what it means to wear the Sioux sweater and perhaps most importantly, someone who understands that the future of wearing that logo is in the hands of the young men he motivates to embody the spirit we have fought with so that they and future generations will also be able to associate that logo with the Univesity of North Dakota. Notwithstanding good intentions - the proof is .... well we all have our opinions. I would take note of experienced coaches like Jim Archabald, not sure how his team is doing - but I have heard good things that he has done in a short period of time, as I believe that his (and countless others I am sure) time is at hand.
  15. Man that was a classless hit by Hextal, is he trying to oust Marvin for the jerk of the year award? It doesn't matter what color uniform you are wearing ugly hits don't belong in the game - too easy to hurt someone. Gawd knows we have preached that enough on this board.
  16. dont input the pids...leave them at auto and the receiver will log the proper pids right now the signal isnt up...wont be up until 9:45ish Central Can you get a signal on the following transponder? 12050 V 13354 Appears to have worked! Thanks!!!!
  17. I am still struggling and would appreciate any input that can be provided. I have a Coolsat 7100 without a motor. It was pointed at 91W last year so I presume it hasn't changed. When I tried to reprogram to the new location I continue to get a NO Signal response. Last weekend I gave up and watched the College Sports etc...channel. What my Coolsat says for the channel I created is: Satellite: 91W Frequency: 12024 Mhz Symbol Rate: 4880 Polarity: Vertical Video PID: 481 Audio PID: 482 PCR PID: 481 Last year I was getting numbers in the 70 to 80%, presently other channels that I am getting a meter reading on are in the 40 to 50% neighborhood. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? They would be appreciated. Thanks,
  18. Ok, so I am having some fun now! Not. My system worked fine fine last year ...so I go in and try to create a channel at Galaxy 11 at 91 W. Is this also Galaxy 17? Because I am having difficulty finding the frequency 12024 V , any help would be appreciated. thanks,
  19. It must have been Chay Genoway's fault. The Finley apologists here constantly blamed Genoway for all of Finley on ice miscues during his career, so maybe the off ice stuff is his fault too Makes sense as I was always told that the ones that get caught are usually the slowest ones!
  20. Ah come on..it is the fan's favorite 1957 Chevy! Anyone remember where the gas cap is hidden?
  21. Why were we not interested in Mr. Hanoski or Mr. Lee? They are nearly in our back yard, do they not fit our style and if so, what do the NHL scouts see that our coaching staff didn't. Now if they turned us down, oh well....but I would find that hard to believe.
  22. The NCAA should let Walski apply for another year of eligiblity. I mean what does it hurt to give the guy another year? On a side note, watching some of the Aaron Dell footage on youtube made my day. I know its basically footage of all of his best saves, but man there are a lof of nice ones. UND shouldn't be hard pressed to find another goaltender to bring in the mix....... Wow, I just took a look at the you tube footage as well, not sure who Phil Dell is but he did a good job of putting a hi-light reel together of Aaron! By the looks of that footage we very easily could have a goalie controversy on our hands. In a good way, certainly not meaning to sound negative as from the video that I saw (one from the all star game of the league that we appear to recruit heavily from) he looked solid. I can't see him as being content sitting on the bench! Who ever is recruited for the 3rd goalie will be a long way back on the depth charts or we could end up with a negative goalie controversy! A goalie rotation could bring an interesting mix to next year's team.
  23. Yah, I think we ought to just take our puck and go home! We don't want to play with them anyway! Damn rule makers, we should just start our own league, maybe we should sue them. Then we could call ourselves - The Fighting Suers!
