How's that town-and-gown relationship working out for you?

Road construction needs to have more timeliness incentives/disincentives built into the contracts.  If you aren't a big enough/competent enough company to tackle a project like that and have it done in a couple months then don't bid on it or else you can expect to take a hit in the pocketbook.

He's also a high WHL pick for Winnipeg. Maybe he pulls a Bethune.

That's always a possibility.  Though Sandy took the ridiculously small Kobe Roth from Warroad and turned him into a 2 time national champion and a productive college player.  Makes one wonder what he can do with the higher end talent that Shaugs possesses.

While his decisions were awful and he clearly wasn't remorseful until it all came crashing down, he has likely learned his lesson. Army would be a good destination for him; punks get the Private Pyle treatment at service academies.

Service academies are extremely tough to get into.  Miller needs an enlistment in the Army instead as that would possibly knock some sense into him.

your one underlying fact is that there is absolutly NOTHING to bring people here.  if it wasnt for the university, this wouldnt be much more than a post office and a couple bars.  if it dosent get turned around fast, this place is done....my kids arent coming back after college graduation, i know that much.  and most of their friends are leaving as well,

Ditto.  Limited job market unless you want to be paid below market or develop carpal tunnel at one of the three big production plants.........artificially high housing costs due to two guys owning all the land around town and also including the two biggest realtors..........UND is still a big positive but Grand Forks needs more

If you read some of the articles in the Denver Post over the past couple of months, you may start to feel bad for MK because you will see that he really has been railroaded.  A chorus of the usual, noisy minority of suspects on campus, and their hymn of 'diversity and equality above all' sung as a thin veil for 'my way is the only way and I've no tolerance for any other viewpoint.'

It's the world we live in now......one where a 5/4 majority flipping back to 4/5 matters more than actual results in the job.

Epic has equipment on site of the Old Townhouse hotel downtown.  They have a few renderings in their website.  Looks like there will be three, seven story buildings with a plaza in the middle.  Will be mixed residential and commercial.  There doesn’t appear to be a stage like in West Fargo at The Lights.  But with HB right across the street, Maybe that’s who they’d use if they decide to hold concerts there.  Link to the website:  https://epiccompaniesnd.com/properties/the-beacon/

If it's anything close to what West Fargo did it will be a home run.

Pretty soon the games will be virtual based on 40 times, agility tests, etc.

Sadly that is the direction things are headed.  Pretty soon no one will be able to do anything unless there is 100% guarantee that nothing adverse could potentially happen to them once they leave their basement.

  8. Berry was home tonight watching the guy that eliminated him two weeks ago so a little hard to argue he still had the better season....... none of the Frozen Four teams were flukes this year so someone has to lose.

I'd trust Driscoll or Thome in net more than a freshmen. I know some can compete day one but that's a big risk to take. If we can get a solid year out of Driscoll or Thome then we can remain competitive while the younger goalies develop.

This.  Thome is a pretty good goalie that has shown he can hang at this level.  I hope to be proved wrong, but I think Johnson becoming a starting D1 goalie is far from a sure thing.

The cold going around is a real < bleep >. I have it. I thought I'd caught "the ol' one-niner" but tested negative.

It starts out sinus, mimicking allergies, and then all the drainage makes your throat so messed up you start to cough and in my case I coughed myself a case of bronchitis that got infected. (My mucus had every shade of green from NMU to UND to NDSU to BSU.)

It's almost as if people have been completely shielding their immune systems in a lockbox for the last year which has made it not as proficient as normal fighting off even basic viruses like colds..........

    Dumb question:

Person gets the vaccine. They are not exposed (no Covid). But they get tested. What will test come back as? Will the vaccine fool a test?

Good question......but I assume if that was the case MN wouldn't have had a news article about 89 fully vaccinated people testing positive for the virus.  It would just be a given that anyone vaccinated will test positive.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.wdio.com/articles/minnesota-breakthrough-cases-infected-covid-19-after-fully-vaccinated-6053179.html

  12. Shut it down.  The athletes are just getting messed with at this point anyways with all the testing requirements.  Fully vaccinated people are clearly still getting tested (and popping positive) close contact this close contact that and they would have a high likelihood of getting any playoff game ripped out from under them anyways.  As Gunny Highway said in Heartbreak Ridge "Don't give the ***** the satisfaction".

Any player that has any chance of signing a rookie free agent/tryout contract with an NFL team would be crazy to play right now anyways.  They get hurt and they wouldn't be healed by training camp.

This nothing short of the Ferris Bueller 31 Flavors bit.

When are we going to stop looking to ruin kids lives?

Yes.  They actually know which kid at WBL was a positive.  The lawsuit broke down by player the actual amount of time that each Hill Murray player spent next to that kid during the game and most were less than a minute.  Beyond ridiculous.

Honest question though, is there any chance some gamesmanship was involved in the Hermantown and Hill Murray DQs?  I'm sure WBL is getting sick of seeing private school Hill Murray keep them out of the tournament every year.....and frankly high school hockey players are not known as frequent testers.......same could be said of Hermantown and all the schools up that way that are sick of Hermantown sandbagging in class A.  Just a thought.

MSHSL decision makers on top of their game again. Still don't know why the teams really have to quarantine because an former opponent tests positive. I'm not sure I've seen any cases traced back to being transmitted from team to team through sports.

And MN players are still required to wear masks during game play.......thought that and distancing (not spending 15 minutes next to the same person.........which is easy to avoid given multiple player  lines and the large play area) was the magic bullet?

You people are bonkers.  If anything, Sandy is just luckier.  One bounce UND's way this past weekend and nobody is saying a word.  In hockey, good coaching puts a team in position to win, but with a single elimination tourney, luck is nearly as important as good coaching.  Sandy happened to be luckier this past weekend, as the game went to 5 OT while his team got a bye instead of the number one OVERALL seed in the tourney.  Duluth finished 3rd in conference this year, and then got lucky and beat us.  UND prob wins 3 of 5 vs them.  That doesn't make Sandy the best coach for UND when we already have at least just as good of a coach.  Too bad Berry was unlucky enough to have a pandemic strike while we had maybe our best programs best team ever - if we had Sandy the virus prob would have stayed in China...

Just because Hack and Berry make it look easy to win doesn't mean it is.  Just ask Lucia.

There comes a point where it can't just be chalked up to good luck anymore.

This is all we need to see. First 6 years for Berry vs Sandy.

    I'll take Berry any day.

Berry would have been fired at UND with the kind of seasons Sandy had in 04-05 & 05-06.

Sandelin took over a program that was in shambles, with facilities not much better than some high school arenas.  A little different than what Berry walked into.  That being said, I'd hope UND doesn't turn into a program whose fans are happy with results from 15 years ago and/or one where compiling wins is more important than greatness.  No sane person would argue that Don Sutton was a better pitcher than Sandy Koufax.......but Sutton did have alot more regular season wins.

I know everyone measures success by nattys but winning the NCHC is no small accomplishment.  We hung 2 banners this year so please don't belittle that accomplishment.

Sounds like something a SCSU fan would say.  The standard is higher at UND as there is only one banner that matters.

Zach Parise is another who would tell them the same which caused a ripple effect and Bochenski left over the summer....Both were in the AHL the next season and both probably would have come back if they had to do it again....Parise said as much and I feel Bochenski left because Zach did.

Zach Parise was only in the AHL because of the lockout.  If I recall correctly it was more financially lucrative for him to leave when he did because the belief was that the new bargaining deal wouldn't have been as beneficial to rookies.
