What time does the game start?

The 2016 title team was explosive on offense. It was built by Hak and coached by Berry. So I think the answer is more complicated than that.
In all fairness, Hak couldn't win with Hak guys so it'd kind of unfair to ding Berry on that argument alone.

If that environment doesn't get a team jacked up to give their best effort I don't know what will.

Looks like there's still a decent number of upper level tickets still available on the arena website. A few lower level.
I'm guessing 80% UND fans, 15% ASU fans, 5% random.
You probably nailed the expected mix. However I think there will be plenty of empty seats judging by the number of posts trying to offload tickets. Curious if that's the result of alot of people waiting too long and having the "holy smokes" moment when they looked for airfare.

How many years of rebuilding before a new coach builds excitement and momentum?
You'd have to ask someone other than Bubba........

Which top 10 FCS program has worse facilities than UND? Maybe some top 25…
If NDSU had stuck with a tired old (but "safe") coach for one .500 season after another.....do you think they would still have everything they have now? I'd argue no. Get some excitement and momentum and the rest will follow.

If Bubba had the elite resources that Ag U has then he could probably win one title every 9 years too. Ag U still wins titles even with the worst coach they have had since before Bohl……
Maybe not perfect but there are a lot worse facilities than what is offered at UND out there. Maybe if a Bubba team was able to keep excitement for the team more than a couple weeks into the season more resources would follow.

If only we held our “elite” hockey program to such high standards…….
It is.....Brad Berry missed the playoffs a couple years in a row and the heat was getting turned up. Bubba is a nice guy but slapping people on the backs and shaking hands doesn't win games unfortunately.

Would be nice if a Bubba team could just once wait until week 7 or 8 before the let down game.

Nebraska has a better roster than the top MVFC team and it’s not even close. But ok you are the expert….
Nebraska wouldn't finish any better than 3rd in the MVFC. Nebraska is bad and has been for quite some time. They will be lucky to win more than a game in the Big 10 this season.

Not playing to win on offense.

If @gfhockey would like to slobber and fawn all over UMD hockey, by all means. It's a free country. You also might want to take a look, under Sandelin there were a few lean years at UMD, too.
Think Berry or Hakstol would have been the same with a subpar facility like the old DECC? Look at Sandelins record once he got a decent facility to recruit to for more of an apples to apples comparison.

I think the trying to downplay the loss of a highly skilled USNDTP player to bring back two solid but not spectacular 5th year players......lost a lot of traction once a coach that is arguably better than Berry had no issue jumping at the chance to bring Spicer in this year.

Spicer last season - 26 games, 16 points
Montgomery USHL final season - 28 games, 23 points
Can we at least give Montgomery more than 16 games with very limited shifts at UND before people make a decision on him?
I actually don't mind Montgomery, but once again Montgomery did that a full year older than Spicer. Do you really think Spicer wouldn't blow past that 23 point mark next season given how at every level he has started out slow but then skyrocketed once he got accustomed to the level?
-
So can anyone here with a straight face say Montgomery > Spicer? C'mon

So, Spicer was going to be undrafted and play a third line role in his UND career? No. Sendo spent four years here enough to earn a chance to come back and was offered it. If you want to make that comp to someone else, that's fine, that one feels silly.
Ideally I think most would agree that Spicer would benefit from another year in the USHL. However, this team needs a couple high enders (at least with high end potential) to come in. There are no guarantees so out of every 2-3 high level recruits you get, it's possible only one becomes a star. When you stop bringing in the high enders, you don't even give yourself a chance of getting that star. UND's lack of high end offensive talent was on full display the last two games of the season.....when it mattered most.

Season Team GP G A Pts PIM +/-

2021-22 U.S. National Development Team 26 10 6 16 10 5https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=238292
That's #12 on that team.
That screaming "ready for the NCHC" to anyone?
A year in the USHL (for a currently 17 year old) was a prudent request.
It's a little misleading given that it's basically an all star team he's playing on.
-
For those ripping on Spicers slow start in the USHL......this season as a 17 year old his PPG rate is higher than Senden's was as a 20 year old in the USHL......and Senden's PPG rate has basically stayed the same through college.
UND is gonna regret this one. Spicer is exactly the type of high end potential they need.....not a team full of grinders.

Reliable source...Budy "probably not" returning.
He's a poor man's Ludvig Hoff.

Gaber is the only forward that can consistently create......need at least 2 more of him or else next year will be more of the same.

I'm not a huge fan of newly opened anonymous Twitter accounts throwing out accusations. But combined with some of the other speculation out there (and coaches handling of him in-season) it is at a minimum interesting. Rather specific and quite a bit different than the usual traitor-like comments that people like to throw at transfers.

It was men against boys tonight. Can flip that tomorrow, but like the post game said, this is a team that has to bring their lunch pail with to win each night. They aren't talented enough to have much margin for error.
