For the voter suppression crowd, wouldn't repeatedly putting out polls that oversample Democrats.....and election night declarations long before polls have closed on "who won a state" squarely fall in that category?

Hey dumpster fire participants. The Miller news sucked me back in, but don’t worry, I’ll step back out and let Hayduke meme his way through the thread.
On COVID-19, no surprise at all that ND is struggling. I hope we’ve collectively put to bed the idea that it is no worse than the flu. At the year mark, we will be approaching 400k dead, which is over 10x the normal flu season. And we aren’t even in sniffing distance of herd immunity. I’m glad that a vaccine wasn’t rushed for election purposes but I do hope one is found to be safe and useful soon. The good part is that the measures taken this far (lockdowns, restrictions, masks) have allowed the medical community to come up with better treatment plans, and along with the shift to younger patients, the death rate is down. Not enough, but better. The resistance to mask wearing in some areas is still disappointing, and from a political perspective, has completely backfired (see: WI).
Which takes us to the election. The challenger is very, very likely to win. In 2016, there were more undecideds due to the unfavorable personal ratings of both candidates and those voters broke, en masse, to the current President. There are comparatively few undecided voters this year. There are of course uncertainties due to the mail in vote, and election night is bound to be an unsatisfying event, but the consistency of the polling has been amazing. Of course, the only pause given to that is from certain outfits like Trafalgar/Rasmussen/Susquehanna who continue to show better results for the incumbent. Trafalgar is a particularly interesting case where they intentionally adjust their polls to account for a “shy” Trump voter. They point to results in 2016 as a reason, but most research disputes their conclusion, and in fact firms like Rasmussen performed poorly in 2018. Florida will be key to an early election night. They will have almost all of their votes counted. Without a win in FL, there is no realistic path to re-election for the President. If he does get FL, it is going to be a messy wait until AZ/GA and especially PA count their votes.
Happy and safe Halloween to all. I will be doing a neighborhood parade with my daughter tonight and many people will be setting out candy bags. We’ve decorated several dozen as a fun way to change it up this year.
Have fun! Good thing that if Covid-19 is gonna be surface passed having the same person handing out candy touch the candy and the bag first should be much safer than just dropping a few mini snickers in your kids bag.

That this has happened tells me that Brad Berry didn't do his due diligence before he offered the kid a scholarship, or that some of the stuff that has come out recently is questionable, or that it is simply mob mentality in control. I wonder if the kid simply lied to BB or was loose with the truth. What a crappy situation. And it is not even close to over yet.
He and his family have been downplaying it for years by doing the bare minimum required , why stop during Brad Berry's recruitment of him.

I find this extremely difficult to believe. At a minimum UND knew everything long before he stepped foot on campus. I just can't fathom that the staff wouldn't do a google search on a potential recruit. If I'm seeing this stuff without looking for it I see no way the UND was not aware.
I found Brad Miller's thoughts interesting. He indicated that the staff gives a fair amount of weight to the current player's impression of the recruit, and that they have not offered high-end players for concerns about their character and fit.. I'd be curious as to what happened in this situation.
I do hope Berry knew everything beforehand, because if he didn't that's another indictment on the kids character by not being open with his future coach. However, I don't know about Miller specifically, but alot of these UND recruits came to campus early this Summer to unofficially practice/scrimmage with the team. The really nasty part of this story didn't break until just before the draft. Is it possible he was in Grand Forks already before the magnitude of the incident was known?

Did they actually know everything already though?
I have a hard time believing that Berry knew everything. He definitely knew there was an issue I'm sure However this kid was handled with kid gloves by the adults in his life to massage his way through the process to get to the end result they wanted (making a junior team, committing to a college, getting drafted) so don't think for a second that the info provided to Berry during the recruiting process was selective in nature. Also, didn't the nasty part of this story come out after he already committed to UND?

Biden has lost the election already the dens are trying to pick up senate seats or in MN save one.
Would definitely be an explanation, she's gonna be a close one again.

Biden comfortably in the lead in MN.....but still stopping in St Paul today. Don't believe the polls, they are closer than some want to believe. https://m.startribune.com/trump-biden-both-headed-to-minnesota-for-friday-rallies/572911991/

If you're SS.com official booking or just looking for some side action I'll put $1000 on the under for those two states.
Yeah Biden may be up but no way that much. Remember the same media that spent 3.5 years looking for Russian collusion involving Trump and came up with a big nothing burger ......is the same media running many of these surveys.

This is an equally big black eye for UND. This is their chance to move on too.

Definitely excessive....but it would be a much bigger problem if there weren't alternatives out there for voting, sending, communicating, paying, etc.

1 question:
If Biden wins the popular vote by 5 million+ and wins the electoral collage, Why would there be civil unrest?
Because a black guy chasing cops with a knife gets shot?
People forget what it was like at the end of Obama's reign. Cops were getting targeted and in some cases slaughtered in the streets. It will get worse not better if Biden is elected. On the flip side, if Trump is reelected get ready for a law and order hammer to drop.
When you live in the metro and you need a new TV or washing machine...or the newest Air Jordans you can't be picky looking for an excuse to loot.

And all this was while attending UND and on the team. And for every one of this instances, the coaches, fellow players, fans, and media gave them a second chance and they all ended up playing for the team after that. No better example of second chances than Matt Frattin. Arrested for disorderly conduct and left the team. Eventually welcomed back on the team and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. Yes the UND hockey program has a high standard of character they try to convey. And most of the time that is the case. But no program is free from kids making mistakes and doing dumb things.
My point is that if we can give second chances to all those players that did those actions while on the team, we can certainly forgive the actions of something that happened with a player that happened when they were 14 years old. Especially when he publicly made it known and apologized for it again without being forced too.
College kids getting minors and having rowdy parties (i.e. chucking lawn mowers onto streets) is not desirable but it is apples to oranges to repeated abuse of a mentally handicapped kid.

Since MM has been here a few months and his teammates have gotten to know him now it'd be nice to sit down off the record with the leadership group and see what their opinion of the kid is.
With race being part of this awful story, and our captain being a minority and Jasper having a black brother I'd like to get their take especially.
This is something that Berry has had to discuss with both of them I'd like to think.
Most people are capable of putting a good face on when they arrive in a new situation, start a new job, start a new relationship, etc. The real tell will be as time passes and if he doesn't get to play alot right away. The cream usually does rise to the top and the turd will eventually sink to the bottom. His track record including his parents enabling doesn't bode well for which way he is heading.

So a black moped driver (3 words rarely uttered together) died in DC when he crashed into another vehicle after the police turn on the emergency lights. Last night was 2nd night of protests with last night turning violent.
Meanwhile Philly is a dumpster fire over justified police shooting of a man who happened to be black. Watched multiple national news outlets last night and didn't see one looter coming out of a store stealing stuff that looked like me.
Minneapolis will burn regardless of the outcomes of the Floyd trials.
This will be the new normal under a new administration. Metropolitan cities will just be an absolute free for all.
Give it time, the mayor/media will find a couple white guys that have out of state addresses and try feeding you the narrative that they were the primary rioters/looters.

Great.
And the new cases was kept under 900 & deaths under 16. we're on a roll.
Look at the obituary/death notices page of Grand Forks, Fargo, Minot, Bismarck, Williston, and Dickinson for perspective (and Google the term "perspective" to help you understand what that word means). Bismarck Tribune posted 8 obits today alone.....and keep in mind that not many people don't mess around with posting those in the paper anymore. You do realize that before Covid people did die each and everyday in ND right?

Little balance is good for this thread. SS could be receiving $.10 on the dollar from advertising without the likes. Also eventually cash in pocket for Mods.Like previous poster said it's not balance. It is nonsensical photos and memes all day long.

Notice I didn't ban limu emu for his posts, or even reprimand him with a moderator sign-off.
Even amongst the hunker down and hide from Covid crowd, there are at least some intelligent posts/links being provided (that I don't agree with but that is besides the point). Hayduke literally does nothing but spam the board with nonsense all day long. I get the hands off moderator approach but c'mon, it's no different than some guy from Europe spamming the board with "I made $150k working from home last year" posts all day
