an observation i find interesting is that five of the six conferences have at least one team in the top 16 of the pwr. if every conference tournament, with the exception of the atlantic conference, were to end up sending an automatic qualifier who's already in the top 16 of the pwr to the ncaa tournament, then i think this would be the first season in a long time that 15 of the top 16 teams in the pwr would make the tournament, which would likely make for some exciting games.

at this point, it doesn't seem likely that will happen. duluth, st cloud, and wisonsin are all in the running for a #1 seed, especially wisonsin, and the #1 seeds always get the closest possible regional. i doubt they'll put more than two wcha teams in one regional so if wisconsin goes to the excel, my guess is they'd consider duluth or st cloud the best option for the other wcha team to go to that regional. i personally think the sioux would be a bigger draw then either of those teams, but the committee will think "hey, those teams are from minnesota and the xcel is in minnesota so those are the best options", then they'll go back to watching reality tv with the other neanderthals.

yeah, it's amazing. i'm definitely a math guy, but i've never wanted to even try to figure out that complicated pwr system. when i saw we fell to 16th after friday night's games, i thought for sure we'd be even lower today because of the similarity in results between the two nights this weekend. i was obvisouly very pleasantly surprised to see we moved all the way to 10th. this weekend was a huge break for the sioux. it's time to capitalize on our good fortune and start winning some games. our next three opponents are top tier teams. if this team starts winning, a 2 seed in the playoffs still isn't out of the rhelm of possibility. go sioux!

look at the big brain on star2city! thanks, man; that makes sense.

this line is one of those used in a debate to make a third party reader side with the individual using the line. it's unlikely a conscious action, but lines such as this plant the idea in a thrid party reader's head that the individual the line is directed towards is either ignorant, stretching for an argument that doesn't exist, or detracting from the topic of the debate. other such lines i've seen include: you're still not getting it you're not too bright, are you? i'm obviously dealing with a slow witted person here this is over your head oh for the love of God!...i give up when it comes to debate, these lines offer nothing to the debate, but merely attempt to sway outsiders looking in on the debate by subtly demeening the other party or parties with whom one is engaged in debate. such lines are tyically used by somebody who is frustrated with the direction the debate is going and who is attempting to make themselves feel better by seemingly discrediting those who are offering arguments contrary to their own. this strategy is generally ineffective as it normally causes the other party or parties involved to either assume the individual using the line is encouragable or simply get frustrated themselves, while offering no real argument to defend one's point of view. trust me, i'm a master debater

if no tax dollars were used to build the home, why is this anybody's business? i'm not asking the rhetorically, i really want to know because likely there is a reason for some to be pissed about this, but i'm just not understanding what that reason might be. the only thing i can think of is that all state schools are partially funded through tax dollars. therefore, if a school can afford a $1.8 million dollar home for their president, then maybe they can cover a larger portion of the costs that the taxpayers help cover for various university related costs. aside from that stance, i don't see how this should matter to anybody. i mean, are we going to get bent out of shape if another institution, such as a company with it's corporate office in north dakota or a professional sports team based in north dakota, were to use it's own private funds to purchase a lavish home for it's president? after all, a university is a business and if they want to use their capital to build a home for the university president rather than investing in those areas that would make the university more appealing to potential students, well...i think that's an un-wise decision, but that's their choice to make.

do you have an example? or are you just having a rough day and thought stirring the pot over at ss.com might cheer you up?

i think sharing different views is a big part of any message board. are you suggesting that if it was made private, administrators would kick anybody off for not having a specific opinion on each matter? maybe you should go start your own private board where you can share your opinions with the world and only allow those who agree with you to join your community. leave this board alone.

reverse screw job? sounds kinky.

yeah, i haven't seen anything saying they will, or even might, be back this weekend. i mean, other than the post on this site, but i responded to that post asking where the poster heard that and he/she has not responded with an answer. perhaps he/she just hasn't seen my post, but more likely it was either wishful thinking or a drive-by prank post. we'll see in a couple days what the real story is.

where did you hear this?
-
nice. thanks.

friday night's game it on the nhl network. anybody hear any rumors about fcs picking up the saturday game? so far directv is showing other events scheduled on 617 and 623 during the saturday game.

yeah, they've both been pretty solid. little trouble with the gophers in game two a couple weeks ago and miami did get five on us, but other than that, it's been three or less in every game.

now would be a good time to get it together

i always have high expectations for this team regardless of their situation. top 3 is par for me and i think it's quite attainable. anything else is sub-par in my opinion. you disagree. that's fine, but it doesn't change my point of view. -

it depends on what you consider par. par for me is among the top three in the wcha so by my standards the season has been sub-par thus far. -
obviously anything can happen come post-season (look at umd last year), but i agree with you. it really feels like the salvaging of our season starts this weekend. if we can take three or four points from the pioneers, that will give us the momentum and confidence necessary to give st cloud a fight on their home ice. those two series are so important in order for us to establish ourselves as a force to reckon with going into the last month of the regular season and the post-season. failure this weekend may be difficult to overcome.
-
our next four series match-ups are against four of the top five teams in the wcha. if the sioux can figure out how to start winning, this would be the perfect time to go on a trademark late season winning streak. hypothetically speaking, if we win out this season (that's ten wins with eight against top tier teams), then we will likely finish in the top three in the conference. the sioux truly do hold their fate in their own hands. a win streak right now would negate the sub-par performance exhibited so far this season and put them right in the mix again when talking about national championship contention. let's go sioux!

i see the friday night game will be on the nhl network. i know nhl has an hd version of their channel. any possibility that this game will be available in hd or do they just pick up the fssn feed?
-
doesn't work that way with directv and fcs. anybody with directv heard if they're picking up the game on one of their open channels?
-
am i correct in my assumption that tonight's game will not be on directv?
-
here's the breakdown: friday night: comcast: 723 directv: 683 dish: 414 * comcast and directv require you have their sports packs as part of your cable/satellite package, not sure how dish does it saturday night: not on tv, but you can access the du live video feed here: http://www.denverpioneers.com/liveEvents/l...DB_OEM_ID=18600 * i believe you have to pay for a one month membership, which is around $10

yeah, that comment was pretty out of nowhere. i'm with you. always push sioux hockey if somebody shows an interest...especially somebody outside the hockey market.
