Unfortunately, we have had a string of suspect AD's since Terry Wanless was run out of town. The success of the 90's is a distant memory and the leadership over the last two decades has been a big part of the problem.
If you can get Craig Smith right now, then I'm all for it. Make the move. Unless you can hit a home run like that, I don't think you will find the right person in the middle of a season.
My preference would be to wait for the end of the season. I don't want Chaves to decide that the "interim" coach did such a great job that they deserve the permanent position with no search.
Seems like a very questionable position to take considering he coaches in a sport that is 56% African American. If I was a young African American recruit, I would certainly consider a head coach's support of TPUSA when selecting a school. As already mentioned, this kind of post should be made from a private account and not an offical UND one.
Maybe he's hoping for a new career after this season.
This is a great quote from Quincy regarding the highlights they showed when he was selected. UND was very lucky to have him! I hope he has many successful years in the CFL.
"They were showing clips, and I'm glad they had the horns down clip against NDSU in there."
According to Coach Sather's interview with Izzo when the game was first announced, there is no court at the Ralph. The one utilized for the Kansas game is no longer playable and the cost to acquire a new court would be prohibitive for one game. A packed Betty will be a great atmosphere.
