I would also second these comments. I do not know if Hakstol is or will be a good coach, but he deserves his chance. Judging him based on this one year is not fair. If you judged coaches on their first year only there would be a lot of good coaches that would be have been fired and never coached again, look at Belichick with Cleveland, now he is considered one of the best coaches of all-time. It will take at least two more seasons before we can really fairly evaluate Hakstal as a head coach. I actually think he will learn from this season and improve. I think this season is basically lost. As such, I think that Radke needs to be playing every game from here on out. We will be very thin on defensive experience next year so the more playing time he gets now the better. This senior class has been disappointing, too many of them peaked as sophs so I have hope that next years team will be improved and the year after that we should have a solid chance at winning the NCAA title. Hard to expect next years team to win it all when we will be depending on freshmen for defense and for scoring. I had been holding out hope all year that the team would turn things up a notch this year but after last nights game I had to face the fact that it isn't going to happen. I will still be going to the games and cheering them on but any postive expectation is gone.

You can't just turn it on when you want. Denver didn't just get hot in the NCAA playoffs. They went 7-0-2 in their last 9 regular season games, including a tie with the Sioux, and sweeps over Minny and CC. The Sioux have 4 games left and I can't see them turning it around this year. Hakstol said that last night might have been a defining moment. For me, tonight was a defining moment...number eight ain't happening this year. We are now 15th in the pairwise, out of the NCAA tourney at this time. I am guessing that to make the NCAA tourney they may need to sweep Wisconsin and St. Cloud or win the WCHA tourney.

I am looking for the Sioux to sweep, anything less at this time of the year at home is no good. If they can just come out and play hard for 60 minutes and catch a few breaks the floodgates might just open up. This might help them relax and not hold the sticks quite as "tight". Working hard and playing loose is the formula. If they can get two wins this w/e it just might snowball into further success and an enjoyable post-season run. I still believe the talent is there to be as good as anyone in the league. UMD and UND were pre-season 1 and 2. Looks like the Dogs may be starting a roll, time for us to do so also. Adjustments due to rule enforcement and coaching changes should be done by now. We need to get healthy and get a win streak started, beginning this w/e. After this we get a week off and then Murray and McMahon will be back and we should be ready to finish the season strong.
