  1. I recall a game at the old arena back in the eighties when they brought the Oak Ridge Boys over from "the Fritz" to sing the anthem at the game before their 8 o'clock show. No one told them about the "...home of the Sioux". I think they almost fell over on the ice. Good memories. And yes, bring back the variety.
  2. Sheesh, you'd think it was a lacrosse game.
  3. Kinda glad J. Schmaltz isn't riding pine.
  4. Faceoff's may be the reason. #10 was pretty incredible on the dot last night, and that line would benefit from a bit more possession time.
  5. ^^^^This. Our guys looked like too many have families in GF and took teammates home for a massive dinner Thursday, followed by pie and late night sandwiches. Omaha looked more like Dean fed them at the salad bar and left 'em hungry enough to eat points for dinner. We dodged a loss, plain and simple. I counted 4 pipes on basically open net Omaha shots. I'm thinking the Seniors need to ramp it up a couple notches tonight and bury that puck early and often. These three points matter, a bunch.
  6. Need to work on that passing. We're not looking crisp there. And as for the power play... "Extra man".
  7. Good to hear. He's paired with Luke Johnson and St. Clair...that might be a good combo. And I like that 4th line of Olson, Simonson, Poganski. Going to be hard for Omaha to keep pace with them, especially if we force them to stick with 3 lines.
  8. I say we show the Snuggerud boy how hockey is played in Grand Forks. Not that I hold grudges. Wait... I think we're looking a a squeaker without some of our key forwards in. 3-2 victory. Come out with intensity and keep that pace! GO SIOUX!!!
  9. It was boarding. It should have been called.
  10. Friday - Luke Johnson Saturday - Mr. Ausmus
  11. As a fan I was intimidated attending games at the old Mariucci arena. I was pretty sure the boy scouts would help maroon /gold clad fans first, and I'd never make it out of the fire. Too soon?
  12. You forgot "...one who can beat you shorthanded with no goalie." And yes, this is sarcasm directed at those who would fire Hak and lure D.B. back to win a string of national championships. Not a comment intended to malign Mr. Blais who, I might add, is a legend of a coach at UND and beloved by me for his efforts and contributions.
  13. It appears to me that Murphy likely sat for "incentive" purposes or maybe just to shake things up a bit. Moving Poolman to fwd covered his spot. Olson in for the injured Chyzk looked like an even trade, at least for this game. Mattson took Poolman's spot (from Fri night) on the blue line.
  14. Correction. 3 stars: gfhockeyAZSioux, gfhockeyAZSioux, gfhockeyAZSioux. Fixed your post. Sometimes the difference is made by what you DON'T do.
  15. How so? Parks was recovering and just beginning to realize he should be moving on when the puck went in. I think it should have counted. But, I'm not Derek Shepard. Thankfully.
  16. That was Tom Satterdalen, former coach of Bloomington Jefferson HS, and winning coach of a LOT of MN tourney's. And he's right, the game has changed. We used to have guys who would make you pay for camping in front of the net. But with penalties being what they are, it's not worth the risk anymore. Now we need to have D-men who are mobile and can take the puck up ice with speed, and jump into the slot when we have opportunities for offense. It's a different style of play, and requires different players to cover positions.
  17. I agree our pp is not the same with out N.S., but that is not the only reason we came up short. There were a lot of passes behind skaters tonight, and some poor puck pressure when we didn't have the biscuit.
  18. Really poor penalty by OD in the third that hurt. Not that it made the only difference in the game. St.C had a triple pipe in the second period that could have easily been a goal. This team needs to re purpose themselves and come out for sixty minutes tomorrow night. Heck...65 minutes.
  19. From what I could see, not much effort tonight from anyone other than Caggs past the 15 minute mark of period 2. Outworked. Outplayed.
  20. We had jump in the first, not much in the second. A bit over confident in the third, perhaps.
  21. anyone else having issues with NCHC tv? Crashed on me with 4 min left.
  22. Wow, an hour before game time vs st cloud and I cannot reach the NCHC tv webpage to watch the Miami/WMU game. Hmmm...hope this is fixed but quick!
  23. Looking for sixty minutes of INTENSITY tonight! Hope the General gets this team fired up but good and they come out ready to own the concrete center. Without Faragher(sp?) in net things are looking up. 5-2 tonight. GO SIOUX!!!
  24. I know it's early in the season and rankings don't count for beans, but can anyone explain the position of Mich. Tech in the Krach rankings for me? http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/krach/
  25. Oops...my bad. Corrected. Thanks.
