NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs Niagara Saturday game day thread
808287 replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey
Fire Hak!! Or, just put in another week of hard work and destroy CC? Simple question. -
Bury the Eaglets. Deep.
-
You can get a Delay of Game penalty if a fan throws a live goose out on the ice.

Great game for the team tonight. Good to see the intensity and follow through. Now to try and get this on Friday too. GO SIOUX!!!
-
HATTY!!!
-
Dangit. Got to stay out of the box.
-
Absolutely terrific...Drake makes it 4-1
-
Awesome! 2 for OD!!!
-
NICE!!! Mac makes it 2-1!!!
-
O.D.'s reputation is now on the line...
-
That'll work! GO SIOUX!!!

Wow, the ref's make their job look tough.

Refs have been questionable vs UND for years now. Don't know what was said back in the day, but someone seems to be harboring a long term grudge. Or are they completely inept? Simple question.
-
Just listened to the coach's comments and I usually don't harp on Hak but... He said that the game turned on the second period play. Well...yes, we didn't have the best second period ever, that's for sure. But we had a tie game with 10 min left in the third. That said, I look for a better effort from our Seniors tomorrow night. GO SIOUX!!!

For those who followed the North Stars back in the day, and for those who follow Sioux Hockey, we've all lost a friend who left us with many great memories and quite a legacy. Rest in peace Mr. Parise, and thanks for the great memories! http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/j-p--parise-dies-at-73--leaves-remarkable-hockey-legacy-163021006.html;_ylt=A0LEVxYG_65UdJIArgJXNyoA Condolences and prayers to the Parise family.

This should be a high octane series. Duluth always comes ready to play, and I expect no less than 120 minutes from them over the weekend. Having N. Schmaltz back a little early from the WJC is not, in my book, a bad thing given this series and the Penrose as well as PWR implications. Great way to start the second half! GO SIOUX!!!

I'm obviously pleased with the win/loss record in the first half. A "traditional" Hakstol second-half record would set this team up well for a #1 seed heading into Fargo/Scheels. Friday night record is a concern with me. In a one-and-done tourney you have to win on Friday night every game. Show up prepared and dictate the play for sixty minutes. IF this team can figure out that every game is a potential loss to Air Force or Lake Superior State, and they play with the domination they have late in those two games, they will be lights-out in late season play. In Zane we trust.

That's got to hurt for the Badger faithful. I can't imagine the screams if UND took such a turn.

Agreed, it is great to see Schmaltz back on the dot, his playmaking ability will only be magnified, and he'll get a lot of looks from the slot. Also agree on Simonson, he is playing Sioux hockey all the way and has been excellent on faceoffs. I'm waiting to see Poganski start lighting the lamp, and I'd love to see L. Johnson get back to the score sheet too. GO SIOUX!!!

What the hell are you talking about? Thank you for asking. I was referring to your propensity to focus on the negative aspects of the team's performance and the way you enjoy asking about "how long will such poor coaching, performance, lack of preparation, etc., etc. be allowed to continue?" Because, honestly I'm seeing a pattern in your approach that I don't appreciate and being a long time dedicated fan of this team I am inclined to call you on it instead of roll my eyes and wish you'd stop posting such sniveling drivel. But, as you say, you are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. My opinion is that you are of substantially less caliber than your moniker implies. I'm as happy about tonight as any Sioux fan so grow the eff up.. Which brings me to my second point. You continually respond like a petulant child when anyone dares to take umbrage with one of your posts, so I made sure to include language that I would use when dealing with a petulant child. Your reply exactly fits with what I expected, and it is clear to me that between the two of us, you are the one with growing up to do. You are posting on a public forum, act like it. But anyway, appreciate the updates, folks.. Go Sioux!

Sorry they didn't lose or tie so you could get your groove on. When you're done helping your Mother in the kitchen please pick up the toys in the living room before you head up to bed. Don't worry, both the gophers and BC will finish above .500.

That comeback painted a picture of stories.

TEAM MEETING!!!!
-
While I can't say this is exactly true, the very first Sioux game I went to was also the first time I ever heard six thousand people gasp at once. Everyone sucked in their breath when Glenn White reared up on a slapshot, with time and space, from the top of the slot. And I'm certain the opposing netminder had a moment of "Oh...$#!t". For the day, with wooden sticks...that guy had a ripper of a slapshot.

LSS is coming off a pounding at the hands of Mankato, AND they are playing UND. They will be working hard to scrape out any semblence of tie or win. We need to score early, then score often and take away the hope. Low scoring contests play too much into the hands of the visitors. So...IF Murphy skates, he'd better get himself down in front of that net and bang in some greasy bouncer. I might expect Panzerella to see more ice time and let some sore shoulders heal up. And I don't expect to see Chyz or OD back this weekend, even if they might play were the opponent Minnesota or Boston. In Zane we trust.
