Ballard's a very good player. Pretty similar to Matt Jones, but Ballard leans a little more on the offensive side, while Jones leans to the defensive side. He has been a huge asset to the Gophers this year, both offensively and defensively. I don't think there are many defensmen that have a one-timer like Ballard. During one game last year (may have been in the NCAA's) I saw him dive to his side, like a shortstop, to prevent the puck from leaving the zone. Caught it, got up and launched a shot towards the net, which I believe resulted in a goal.

Gretzky had one Marty McSorley watching his back in Las Angeles. Not a lot of people went after him. Jawing before the face off would be my guess.

We hate them because they left and they were OUR team. Norm Greed pretended to make an effort to increase revenues by sending a letter to season ticket holders wondering if the North Stars should move to the Civic Center or the Target Center. It was a cover as he was planning on moving the team all along. As a fan, it felt like a stab in the back... As far as coaches go...I like Jaques Lemaire, but I hate his systems.

The NHL is making their ruling on this tomorrow...I seriously hope it is for the rest of the season. Ray Ferraro commented on this and said he played in a game where Jeff Bukeboom was cheapshoted in a sililar matter. The only difference was that Todd Bertuzzi had 2 weeks to think about what he was going to do.

I hate the Stars...but, you already could have guessed that. I like the Kings though. Andy Murray seems like a class act to me. Good coach. I remember him miked up against the Wild one game last year. I hear he has a son that plays hockey for a really, really good DI team. I also like the Sabres.

To find Gopher tailgate...look for a large group of people wearing hideous maroon and gold jersies...there will be a few good looking green and white ones in the mix. Also, sharp objects (aka darts) will be being thrown at beer cans.

No, he's telling the truth, I've seen an old lady cut in front of him before. Didn't hit her (didn't have french bread either though), but did spew a string of profanity at her. There was a retired sailor there...who is now a trucker...that told him to watch his mouth.

Sadly I will not be at the games this weekend...I will be on my way down to San Anotonio for Spring Break. I basically had to chose between the Final Five or another series with Tech. Besides I've only been at the 1st UMD game in 2001 and the 2002 Gopher series...and we know how those turned out.

We started taking hockey seriously in Squirts. The minute you made a travelling team, it was a lot more, intense, if you will (but it was still fun). Our first practice after tryouts was held at an elemtary school gym and classroom. There we learned breakouts and forechecks. Then it was onto the gym where we practiced them with tennis balls instead of sticks and pucks....just to get the positioning down. We had dryland practice after one practice a week. Eventually, in Bantams, it was after EVERY practice. Nothing was worse than losing in those days (except when we got our a$$e$ handed to us by a team from Winnipeg, we kinda expected that). We wanted to win, we were dissapointed when we didn't. Now I turned out REASONABLY sane, didn't I?
