Banks themselves aren't really too exposed in these kind of deals, most people use some kind of SBA program like the 504 where the bank is only lending 40-50% of the money but holds first lien power...they figure if it goes south they should be able to recoup their share of the project costs between the interest collected and the hard assets, plus the riskier the investment looks the more down payment the SBA will require, which would limit their exposure even further. The amount of investment needed using a 504 is 10% for purchasing an existing business, and can be up to 20% for a new venture. I wouldn't be surprised if he used this kind of program unless he has silent partners putting up some decent cash for a conventional loan.

Your comment made me think, the big stores in Billings, Missoula, etc... have started their Black Friday sales at 10 PM Thanksgiving evening the last couple years, is that the way it is in Grand Forks, Fargo, and Bismarck too now? I remember not too long ago it was 5 or 6 AM, then it rolled back to 2 AM, then midnight, now they don't even wait for Friday. I know people who start at 10 PM and shop all night, crazy stuff.

I haven't read or heard what led up to Lucia's comment about the series "not being healthy", was he talking about the on-ice incidents such as the Blood handshake fiasco, the Cepis chokeout, the Lucia headhunt on Trupp, the Frattin hit on Wehrs, and stuff like that? If so, granted those were all sketchy incidents which can be pointed at as bad representation for those involved, but that can't be the only reason they want to end this rivaled series, is it?

...and football...and basketball...and... Truer words have never been spoken.
