What bothers me is the number of times the other teams attackers are being allowed to hang around our crease without someone leaning on them, too many times there's either a guy alone in front or a guy backdooring the defense on the weak side for a clean shot. It's such basic hockey to protect your zone in front of the net that it drives me nuts.

Yeah that sounds about right, too bad they couldn't finish the job but they made a great run with a tiny school. Hillsboro was a power in those days.

Their argument is that the Herald never came out and said the older players were going to be charged with contributing even though they said the minors were going to be charged with possession. I thought it was obvious that the worse crime would also be charged, but in the Herald articles it was never spelled out, either because they thought it was obvious too or because they were protecting the players which is the NDSU position. UND did everything right, both sides agree with that, the question is if the Herald did a poor job reporting or tried to sugarcoat it. Either way it doesn't matter to us.

This article came out 3 days after the original article was printed, it named all 7 involved and mentioned 4 minors who were going to be charged later. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/245487 I'm sure like everybody on here the Herald missed when they were actually charged almost 3 months later, maybe they should have caught it but it's not exactly a federal case. Accusing them of covering up something that has been in print twice and will be in print again in March isn't realistic.

It looks like they actually filed charges in early December so it probably went under everybody's radar, but I'm sure it will be portrayed as a cover-up by the Herald by some conspiracy advocates.

The drinking story and suspensions were reported in the Forum, the Herald, the Tribune, the Sun, on WDAY, on Valley News Live, on Kare 11, on the UND website...how much more do people want? UND reported it and acted on it and now it's awaiting court, there's no conspiracy here. And when it gets to court the result will be in all the media outlets again only because it was athletes involved, not because it was a contributing charge which will be a rather minor puishment. The media doesn't really care about the story because there's no controversy surrounding it...if UND would have kept it a secret, tried to lie their way out of it, or ignored it and didn't punish those involved, then the media would have had the ammo they needed to make a big stink out of it, as is happened UND handled it correctly and the sensational headline was just not there.
