NORTH DAKOTA vs. COLORADO COLLEGE - Thursday Final 5 7pm

Honestly the defense hasn't been that bad lately, since the Minnesota series they only gave up 30 goals in 15 games (not counting last night), and quite a few of those were the softies our goalies seem to give up once a game. The bigger problem lately has been the soft goal every game from both goalies and the inability to find working lines, now we're going into the NCAA tournament and the top 2 lines are question marks, that is not what you want at this stage. -
This hasn't been a team that has put together winning streaks, they've played a lot of OT games or close victories, and I really didn't expect them to win 8 in a row to end the season. I didn't think it would be CC who knocked them out of the Final Five (and it shouldn't have been), but not surprised they didn't win it. Going forward they will be well rested for a change going into the NCAA tourney, which might not be the worst thing. The way this team has played the second half with almost every game tight until the end the top 2 lines will probably be leaned on heavily next week, and having fresh legs vs. the 8 games in 16/17 days scenario might end up being a positive...we'll see. Not trying to sugarcoat this bad loss, but in the grand scheme of things where this team has proven to me that they will constantly be involved in tie or 1-goal games late in the 3rd period we're going to have to count on fresh legs and conditioning to win games, and they should be rested coming in now. Get ready for next week, expect every game to be a tight, gut-wrenching affair until the final horn...I hope it's more than one weekend.

Time? -
People will be sleeping like babies watching this play out.

I'm not saying they're that good, I just don't see anybody on that side of the bracket who is that impressive and playoff tested. It would be a farce for BC to get that draw.
-
Probably BC, Quinnipiac (only because I don't like anybody else there to beat them), flip a coin in Toledo, and hopefully UND although I would give Minnesota a slight edge because that would probably mean they beat UND in the WCHA tourney also.
-
That would just about figure, BC would probably walk to the Championship game in this scenario.
-
People shouldn't call this a "Harvin for Jennings" scenario, it's more a "Harvin for draft picks or Harvin walks in a year" scenario, he wanted to leave and Minnesota struck a deal while they still had bargaining power.
-
My knee-jerk reaction when they traded Harvin was "oh shi%", but it appears to be the right decision. He has made it known that he doesn't want to resign in Minnesota, and the money he wants is too much for someone who has never had a 1000 yard season, is relatively small for a receiver and has been banged up constantly the last year and a half, and fights the migraine issue off and on during the season. Don't get me wrong he is exciting and has provided the Vikings many big plays the last few years, but paying him Megatron-type money? You just can't. Getting a 1st, 3rd, and 7th round pick for someone you will probably lose in free agency is pretty decent. Winfield looks like a salary-cap casualty, and according to the Star Trib Frazier has talked to him about coming back at a reduced price, but others will be looking at him also so it's probably less than a 50% chance he will be back. Hard to replace the attitude he brings to the field. Cassel...meh. Another half-ass QB, should trade him to the Jets right now and get a draft pick or two. The Jennings signing was a good deal for them, he'll provide them with a downfield target they haven't had since Rice left, and the price was right. I was actually hoping they could lure Wallace to Minnesota, but Jennings is no slouch either. Now if Ponder or whoever can get the ball to him downfield will be the next question. They should get a lot of help in the draft, they have 2 first round picks, 2 fourth round picks, and 3 seventh round picks, so they should be able to fill a lot of needs or even package some picks to move up or make a trade. Should be an interesting draft day for the Vikings, they have some holes to address...need a WR, LB, and secondary help. Will we be better...I'll reserve judgement until I see the opening day lineup.

Was pretty close on the score but it sounds like it was a little scarier than I thought it would be. And apparently the refs let it get out of control, hate to see that starting early in the series, that's all we need is somebody thrown out for the Thursday game.
-
5-2 Sioux, no letdowns after we score from here on out.
-
Surprised it's been 6 years for Weber, seems like they're always right there at the end.
-
They're flying under the radar, maybe Weber will take them a little lightly after beating them handily twice if they both win today.
-
I think that's the complete list, I compared the Stanley Cup list to the UND NHL list and there was nobody before 1986, hard to believe that was the first one.

Well you know he saved his best for last at the World Juniors so... -
Cherry will play, Ward had surgery and is done.

Yeah it's just closer to the campus and a pretty decent burger joint for lunch so I threw it in, also there's a Five Guys really close to campus too for lunch.

If anyone is going to Missoula for the BSC mens tournament this week I would recommend Paul's Pancake Parlor on Brooks for breakfast, Red Robin on Brooks for lunch, and Ciao Mambo (Italian) or El Cazador (Mexican) on Higgins for dinner, can't go wrong on any of those. Also many chains on Reserve like Outback, Perkins, Carino's (Italian), Famous Dave's, Cracker Barrel, Fuddruckers, etc..
