Maybe they're trying to be sneaky too, like that ever works.

There have been lame-duck coaches who have taken other jobs and then coached their old teams in Bowl games, so maybe Bohl will stay until they lose (or Frisco).
-
The only apprehension I have is hearing he hasn't told his players, that doesn't seem like his style...hell these guys have won him two nattys. Seems wierd.
-
Silver lining I guess?
-
I know, just the fact that it was 5x his base salary kind of stunned me, maybe that's more normal than I think.

Somewhere...lakesbison about to be admitted to the mental hospital.

Wow I'd like to see how that breaks down...I mean really over $1 million in total comp on a $190k salary is a lot. Makes the move more understandable though.
-
If true this is crappy timing, and the players seem blindsided.
-
A million a year in bonus money? That can't be every year can it?
-
Doesn't sound like the players knew this was coming. Christianson's base salary was $190k, I'm sure Bohl will get more than that, probably hoping for one more stepping stone into a very good job.

Sounds like this guy has been quietly collecting skeletons for his closet.
-
My feeling also, too bad if true.

This is exactly right, he loves the fast-paced spread option, it would take a while to get used to and he would recruit his QB accordingly, but it is fun when the pieces are in place. He ran a 4-3 defense at Montana, I assume he would stick with that.

Here's the thoughts from the Griz fans... http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65128

I would bet they hire someone pretty quickly after the 10th though, just for the sake of recruiting, unless they really don't have anybody they want, which seems unlikely with the amount of apps coming in.

There are a lot of people here who would take Pflu back in a heartbeat, a lot of people who think him and O'Day were let go prematurely as part of a witch hunt by Royce Engstrom after Johnson was arrested on the rape charge. That said, there were other issues that led to the firing besides that, a few infractions that he may or may not have known about, and with the University under scrutiny and needing to clean their slate, he and O'Day were let go, maybe as scapegoats. One incident in question was after the arrest of two players, a mother of another player paid $130 and $190 to bail the two out of jail, which one of the players grandfather paid back to the woman. Pflu learned later that the woman had bailed them out, but didn't report it to the university, saying he didn't believe it was an issue because it didn't involve anybody on the coaching staff and the players relative reimbursed her. Also related to that, an attorney provided free legal assistance to the two players, O'Day became aware of that issue and didn't report it, and that became a nail in his coffin, Pflugrad has never been mentioned in that area. After everything blew up the NCAA found a few more things, like players eating with and getting rides from boosters, but nothing really significant. I personally think Robin is a great coach and a solid recruiter, the team that we've got now are all the guys he recruited and they played hard for him. I think he's a solid candidate despite what happened at Montana.

He had another good line too, something like "We didn't block well but we made up for it....we didn't tackle well either."
-
Last Call Tommy is what we called him when he played, liked football and bars. Was 100 times better than this bunch though.

NAU did finish 2nd because they didn't have to play EWU and beat Montana because we pissed all over ourselves and had 2 fumbles returned for touchdowns among other general screw-ups during the game. The NAU-SDSU game was over the second Poe got hurt, Cartwright is a terrible backup, scared to throw and SDSU stacked the line on Bauman, NAU wasn't going to score again unless it was a big play or defensively.

These guys could screw up a free lunch.
-
No kidding, you almost expect it.

And they miss it...how about another tie for the incompetent North?
