I can understand all of that, NDSU should require a home game being NC's and I can understand why teams don't want to play there...get your ass kicked and start 0-1 in your quest for 7 wins. Welcome to the world of winning D1 football Bison, get your checkbooks out and buy a game. I wonder how long the staring game can go before the blinking starts?
-
OK I did see that, but I wonder if that is more of them being too choosy about who they take rather than not being able to schedule a game at all? They really shouldn't have a problem getting a game either but the clock is ticking so they better pull the trigger soon.
-
Well you would have to schedule it because it would be a home game and would provide not only revenue but experience for your team going into the conference, but I still think it could be avoided. Why do you say that NDSU will be facing that scenario soon?
-
If those are the only 2 options then no, but now that UND has a real conference (I think) and is through the transition they shouldn't have to resort to games like Sioux Falls and Mines if they are on the ball scheduling unless someone bails out late, but that can happen to anyone.

Yeah, do the opposite of that. From now on. Every time.

That's exactly why I think Dell is a lock on Friday, he got hung out at the end of the first by penalties and will be anxious to make amends, as will his teammates. I'll stick my neck out and say I would not be surprised if Dell pitches a shutout or 1 goal game Friday. Saturday I wouldn't be surprised if BE gets the start, keeping both of them involved going into Denver seems like a smart idea.

That's an understatement, I would have hated playing against Hextall and listening to his yap running the whole game. Glad he played for us and not against us, probably would have been some threads on here about him. Rau could go either way, time will tell. He's got a ways to go to be thrown in the category of Cepis...Ogilthorpe of the 2000's

I don't get the feeling they are particularly chummy, maybe this issue has made it seem that way.

We still talk about Hrkac, that was the greatest year of Sioux hockey as far as I'm concerned.

They've been discussing what this means and if Montana would/should be interested if approached but I don't see Montana going anywhere for a while, they seem committed to staying in the BSC, especially now that there may be only the Pac-10 and MWC/C-USA in the West it would make the BSC a bigger cog in western US football, which should help recruiting in the areas where Montana likes to shop. You could probably make a case for the 2 California schools, but I don't think they would want to go either.

Much like our Denver trip, Gophers trip to UNO looms large next week. Gophers end up at home with Wisconsin, looks like a mismatch on paper but Bucky hates the Gophers and damaging their playoff chances would heal a lot of the pain of the Badgers crappy season, could be an intense series.

From what I've seen on eGriz among others the thinking is that the merger might end up with as many as 30 teams, including the 4 you mentioned. The teams will play in their own general geographic region until the championship, and most will try not to play their own conference for their OOC games, which should be good news for the BSC and others. This is all speculation at this point, but it sounds like WAC football is on life support.

Alumni Association begins campaign against nickname
jodcon replied to jimdahl's topic in UND Nickname
"If the June measure were to fail, Chaske said the committee would continue collecting petitions for an initiated measuire seeking to put the nickname into the state Constitution through a vote in November." *Sigh* -
Interesting that Minnesota sits at 46% despite leading the WCHA, we're not the only ones with work left to do.

And some will now realize this for the first time. -

Ultimately that's true but we can't deny that Hak's opinion carries a lot of weight in the nickname issue, both with 'hockey only' fans and the general public. -
Wouldn't beating UND yearly be the best recruiting tool you have? It's worked well for the Griz most of the last 20 years.
-
As dumb as it sounds, that could actually be the case.
-
Makes me wonder if he was 'encouraged' to remain silent on this latest twist, or if his thinking is actually swaying a bit after mulling over the potential consequences. Hard to say.

Sweeping this series is critical, the chances of getting out of Denver with more than a split are almost nil the way the refs usually hose us down there.
-
Aw, forgot about CHA, so only 5 autobids instead of 6 will help. And petey is right about the teams, it would take a team in the middle of the pack of most leagues to win because the top few teams are already ahead of us in PWR so 13 is probably a safe number. I don't think that changes anything as far as wins needed goes, I still think we need to win at least 5 games plus a first round sweep in the WCHA playoffs to get in, if we go 4-2 we might need to win a game or 2 at the X.
-
5-1 in the last 6 should be good enough. 4-2 would probably mean we would need to win at least 3 games in the WCHA Playoffs. But it's an everchanging deal every week, if it comes down to us being a team right on the bubble we will have to cheer for the teams ahead of us in the PWR to win their conference tournaments, if teams below us end up getting the autobids we could be left out even at 11-14. Sweeping Tech is almost a must right now.
-
More like 11 to be safe. There are 5 or 6 autobids, I can't remember exactly right off hand. EDIT: It's 6.
