Ledger was whistled for a technical foul for demontrative gesture- clapping of the hands after disagreeing with a call. hilarious, never heard of that one before. See everyone at the Betty for the men's game tomorrow night, and I'll be curiously listening to see how our ladies do against a Gonzaga team who most recently disposed of USC on Wednesday. Hey to beat a team from the WAC-- is a good step forward. We do have a long ways to go though.

Hey Star, Do you know who wrote that story?-- is it even a credible news organization?--- Now granted some of it may be true, but it might be a little harsh for a game recap story after game 1. We were only trailing by 4 with 11 to go and yes it got away from us, but it makes it sound as if we didn't play with them at all.

I think everybody is bringing a lot to the table, in regards to this discussion. Alot of constructive stuff. It's dissappointing to hear that people are having issues with security. Rather than get into a long story, I can say that I too have had my issues with them in the past, this point I do agree on is that the ushers/security at REA are way better in people skills than the Alerus Center at this point and time--hopefully, they can improve those issues. I do feel that this is just one small issue in regards to the whole question. I agree not in a great week in, week out- recognizable teams football conference hurts, as does not having the ability to get into play-offs. One thing that was mentioned to me in passing from a friend who works at UND-- Did you know that at many institutions they actual do not allow their student athletes to room together on campus? while they are freshman & sophmores. The reasoning from what I understand is to encourage more interacting between the students and the student athletes-- it allows for more connections and our athletes to encourage other students to get out for the game. I understand that this happens at some large Universities and some small colleges as well. It's one thing for the student athlete to interact with their fellow students at class or on campus, but when you live together, that changes things.--it's just an idea don't know how it would go over. I guess I'm from the frame of mind that you can do all these marketing campaigns and activities but the really people want to come and first watch good product, and 2 want the game to have some meaning such as- if we win or lose this game does it effect our play-off chances. I do believe our scheduling will improve as our transition continues, but I also believe that the time of the game is a week excuse. I've always felt that in this community there are so many families that have soccer, or hockey or youth football or whatever it is on Saturday AM's that it's a good idea to move the games later in the day. I also think that Tailgaiting from a Noon to 4 stand point is a lot more appealing than say a 9 to 1- at least for me. Definitely agree on letting the lots stay open later after the game though. 1 last thought, I was at Memorial stadium for some absolutely crucial NCC games in late october and early november in the 90's and guess what, a bad attendance day at the Alerus doesn't even compare to bad attendance at Memorial. Specifically, we had a game versus Northern Colorado- The Bears were good and so were we, and the game was going to be a huge factor to who was going to finish on top or near the top of the standings. It was 25 degrees with winds out of the NW at about 15mph-- attendance-- I don't know what it was announced at but I doubt very much it was a person over 3500, and there were many other times and similar instances that I can recall where that happened.

I guess Wilmer has had a lower leg injury recently- they said (radio) that he had been wearing a walking boot for it until recently and they expected him to return relatively soon. Our Freshman for the most part looked...like freshman. Allard didn't impress me at all, like I was hoping he would-but you could tell he wanted no part of shooting after he missed the first badly. Archer to me looks to be the one that will be able to step in and add something. I thought he did some nice things defensively, and showed not much but a little offensively--seems real athletic.

I think Kate would like to forget her first performance as a Sioux-- You could tell the nerves were there and that factored into some ugly shots being put up. Now her form, she's not going to put up the prettiest shots but last night were right up there with stinky. I just hope she continues to improve, we're really going to need that frame of her's to be in the game at times, and she'll only be a threat if she improves, she has to if she's going to make it, and I hope she does because it would be good for the team. Kuehl, I like here she showed me glimpses last night that she may end up being pretty good (made a really nice pass in traffic near the basket--instead of forcing it up--the pass didn't convert because her teammate bobbled it, but that means she's got some vision and understanding coming into her freshman year. I think this going to be tough year for her, with the speed of the game and everything, but after game 1, I'm encouraged that she'll evolve into a pretty solid player as the years progress here at UND.

I'm all for letting them do it in their own way and their own terms, but lets say the State Board allows and allows and allows more deadlines more extensions-- and all of a sudden woh, wait a second, now we are on top of the NCAA deadline, and nothing has really been accompolished, would you be asking the tribe for more urgency then?

I think we might be the favorites to win the DAC this year.

Yes Red Wing, that's exactly what we need to do is shut down all our non-revenue sports, really? the University has to maintain a certain amount of sports to remain in its certain classification, not to mention the title IX implications- yes let's leave ourselves suseptible to that can of worms.

Ok, it appears they are going to extend the deadline until the end of Nov. according to what I've read. Thats because they say they are going to have a meeting on Nov. 10th. People you are incredibly gulliable if you think that meeting is anything more than 50-50 chance of actually being held. That's the way it works with Tribal Government, which is not to say that is that much different from ours, but one thing that is different is that just because something is scheduled doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to happen Now, I hate to tell you this but if that meeting doesn't happen, and just from past experience of being around Reservations, my feeling is it could very well not, I could see us at the very end of November- seeing a SBofHE looking at that as saying "it's apparent that the issue is not that important, and that reflects the support isn't there and it's time to change the name" Be ready for it, I am.

I've posted this many times before... if you keep pushing deadlines in working with a Tribal Government, they will continue to utilize this method to constantly gain more extentsions of deadlines. This is just the way they like to play things there. It's not a comment that people should take positively or negatively--its just how things tend to work within tribal government, (Again it isn't good or bad it just is). Thats why, it concerned me when we granted an extension of the deadline because I knew this is the game the SBoHE would be getting itself into. Also, because of this, I could see some on the board perceive this as them not taking the issue seriously or that it may not mean that much to them, and thus just moving to retire the nickname. RD 17-- Well put and well laid out. This is only the beginning, the transition years can and most certainly will be a roller coaster ride-- a ride that SDSU can say they have been on... but they stayed the course, and this year it's paying dividends. The 1st poster on this thread indeed would, I believe encourage us all to jump off what he deems a sinking ship when really we've barely departed for our voyage. I've never understood why, and for the most part there seems to be few, but it would seem that some hockey fans would like all the other sports at UND fail-- except for hockey. I know of 2 friends specifically who actually were dissapointed when we won a D2 football title because in their opinion, it upstaged hockey. Now maybe people don't realize that before that national title in hockey in 1980, UND's basketball was a bigger draw, and when hockey went in the tank in the late 80's and early 90's and basketball was going to the elite 8--it was the bigger draw. My argument is that what ever program is winning is going to draw. (Let's face it there are a lot of front runner bandwagon fans in these parts) Right now we're a hockey school (and that's great) and as long as we continue to have success we will always be one. But if our other programs become consistent winners, we won't just be a hockey school we will be a great sports school, and I don't see what's so threatening about that concept.

The most telling statistic is that our qb's are our teams leading rushers---that is never a good sign for any offense.

Geeze are we really going to start with the have to start the back up quarterback crap. Honestly, there are more problems here than just the qb- besides except at the end of that drive all the 2's were out there defensively against us. I guess people are right when people say the back up quarterback is the most popular player on the team. There are too many issues to even start with qb.
