  1. Lee Goren was called up by the Boston Bruins last Thursday. He scored a goal on Saturday vs Buffalo in a 4-1 win for the Bruins Way to go Lee!
  2. Karl, Continues to shine.. AHL Shutout Leader Syracuse's Karl Goehring posted his fourth shutout in his last five starts, making 26 saves as the Crunch beat Hamilton on Sunday, 1-0. Goehring (5-1-0) has allowed just one goal in his last 320 minutes and 18 seconds of work and just six goals in nearly 22 periods this season, and his goals against average is now a minuscule 0.82 on the year.

    Marc Ranfranz

I hope Marc gets a chance to play soon. I know he would do well. Jake Brandt did great on Saturday night and Josh Siembida can do it too. But I dont' think you can have to much goaltending. It would be good to see how Marc responded to the challenge. I know he kept Mayo in some games in HS. Moorhead two ot's.. shots were 36 - 16 and we were almost able to win thanks to Marc. He lost his stick once and Matt Cullen shot a rocket that he dove and caught and went for a skate and the whole place went absolutely nuts. He is fun and he is good. I know he did a great job against Omaha in National Jr A tourney too!. Go Marc!
  4. It would be fun to go to the rockies twice in two weeks. Denver is Valentines weekend!!!!. It is getting Late!!!! See you this weekend. The boys are playing well.
  5. Speez, Are we going to go out and have a few this weekend. How many more are you coming in for? Are you going to Alaska, CC or Denver? Denise and I are wondering? Anyone else going to CC Denver or Alaska?
  6. More stats about Karl from the Syracuse Crunch Website... Way to go Karl GOEHRING SHINES FOR CRUNCH: Goaltender Karl Goehring took advantage of his second start of the season on Saturday, November 9, recording his first shutout of the season and second of his career as Syracuse defeated Wilkes- Barre/Scranton 2-0. Goehring made 31 saves in the victory. Entering this week, Goehring leads all American Hockey League goaltenders with a 1.53 goals against average and is second in the league with a .944 save percentage. Goehring has appeared in a total of five games for the Crunch this season with a 1-1-0 record. A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Goehring is the Crunch
  7. Karl is the # 1 Goalie in the AHL check the League Stats he is on top. Here is a good game recap from Saturday's Game. Way to go Karl. This is what we need to go all the way a guy to take over the games. Goehring rises to the challenge Backup goalie makes the most of his start as Crunch shut out Penguins. November 10, 2002 By Lindsay Kramer Staff writer Syracuse Crunch goalie Karl Goehring continues to turn his understudy's job into a starring role. Goehring made 31 stops Saturday and was supported by goals from defenseman Dan Watson and left winger Mathieu Darche to pace the Crunch to a 2-0 triumph over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Onondaga County War Memorial. Goehring got the start ahead of No. 1 goalie Pascal Leclaire after Leclaire was yanked Friday during the Crunch's 5-3 loss to Chicago. Last year, Goehring helped keep the Syracuse season afloat by playing well in the absence of injured starter J.F. Labbe. "When you're a goaltender, the main thing is you have to be ready for anything," said Goehring, a second-year pro. "Going up the ranks, you know it's a pyramid. Spots are tougher and tougher to have." Yet Goehring, a 5-foot-7 bouncing molecule between the pipes, keeps elbowing his way into the rotation. He is extremely entertaining to watch, using his strobe-light quickness to make what look like openings vanish in mid-air. He stated his case early Saturday, denying Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a pair of short-handed breakaways in the first. In the second, he turned away Penguins right winger Konstantin Koltsov on a breakaway. In the third, while protecting a 1-0 lead, he stoned Penguins center Matt Hussey on a re-direction just outside the crease with 18 minutes, 29 seconds left and then frustrated Koltsov again by snaring his bid from the left side of the crease with 9:34 left. "You love playing the game. You deal with whatever comes your way," Goehring said. "He's real fun to watch," Watson said. "He likes to make the big save and he's not afraid to show off. But you know what? That's confidence. That's something he needs every game." The Crunch defense helped Goehring fashion the shutout even though it was down two regulars, Trent Cull, who missed the game with a sore back, and Radim Bicanek, who left the game after the first period with a shoulder injury. Watson broke up the goalie duel between Goehring and the Penguins' Sebastien Caron with 2:52 left in the second. Crunch defenseman Adam Borzecki hustled to keep the puck in the zone on the left point, and he poked it to Watson above the right circle. Watson then sent a shot through traffic and past Caron for his first goal of the year. "I don't score a lot of goals. I just want to put it on net and create an opportunity for someone," Watson said. "I just watched it go all the way in." Syracuse 2, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 0 umbfPenguins 000-0Crunch 011-2 First Period - Scoring-None. Yale Fight

Are they going to play short on Friday and play all three on Saturday night. I hope so. I hope we can win in St. Cloud. It is hard for me to believe we should lose to the Huskies. Speez are you coming up?
  9. Yes, but they announced it Schneider from Notermann and Spiewak on the PA. #7 wasn't even on ice for the +- calculation and yet official score sheet has it Bochenski. I don't know how the players can get that fixed they don't even know it is wrong. It is not a big deal except at the end when the totals are important.. Good job by all the guys! I was just wondering how something so obviously wrong becomes official...
  10. Did anyone see the official stats. I listened to the game and Tim said Jason shot the puck went behind the net and fed it to Andy Schneider for the first goal. Announcer annouced Schneider from Notermann and Spiewak. How did Bochenski who wasn't even on ice get the assist? If you check + - Jason got credit for being on the ice. How could they make that change? Confused in Rochester? Way to go Sioux!
  11. I heard that Spiewak Lundbohm Notermann line had 3 goals two by David and one by Jason... Oh well we are going to have another line of fire... check the plus minus that year too Jason David and Kevin were pretty good two years ago down the stretch I hope they can keep it going and produce so they can stay together. Sounds like Parise, Bochenski and Fyling are really going so it should be good. Rory McMahon and Ryan Hale were doing great at end of season last year so it is good to see they are together.. Lets Go SIOUX... Let's get it going right away in New York. Marc Ranfranz has not been in a real game for a couple of years he will get it going if he gets a little time to find his old self.. Go Marc! JCN
  12. What were the lines last night? What were the D pairings? Which goalies gave up the goals? How did Marc Ranfranz play? JCN
  13. Is the Green and White Intersquad scrimmage on the radio? They used to have it on the internet.. do they this year JCN Go Sioux!!!!
  14. I think Jason has been good in big games in all of his sports career so I think it will continue this year... more than nine means you are getting some real good chances ... cripes that would have been a 20 goal year and hardly any PP time.. Kripes he is pretty good.. I remember watching him sit on the bench for 12 straight minutes vs Maine and go in all ticked off and go around the goal and come out and shoot it in.. Maybe if he can just get ticked off enough he will get some more goals Actually I think he wants to win and does all he can to help the team. If you want to continue to dwell on bad breaks you don't get any good ones. I think positive thought and seeing yourself doing it right is important. Mentally seeing things go your way really helps... JCN
  15. I think he knows how to score. You will see. I know he was pretty confident going into last year and am not sure what all happened. I think if he gets a good start at the beginning. He will be on fire all year.. Sicatoka, I am sure he hit the pipe at least 9 times last year and it was frustrating for him and everyone so I hope he can fine tune the aim and reset the sites.. I am sure he has... I am sure no one works harder and does all he can do what else can you ask. I think you need to play this season and have a great one and other opportunities will come.
  16. I am sure Jason is ready to go! It doesn't matter who you are paired with. He will be solid. I dont' think the coaches can look at too many games that Jason didn't show up and put in a great effort. I don't know if you realize that he has the most points and games of any player on this years team. I know if he would get a little pp time he would produce and have a great last year. Whatever the coaches decide is good with us. They know what is best for the Sioux and if it is good for the Sioux it will be good for us. I hope he gets to have a role of leadership and responsibility. Check out his senior year in High School led team in goals 2nd year of juniors led his team Green Bay in Goals. I think he will be around.. For a little guy he hasn't missed any games and has played with some pretty good injuries. I think he is going to be great this year but I am kind of biased. I can't think of anything more he would like to do than to be a part of another great Fighting Sioux Team. I think they may just get there if the guys work hard every day. I think Jason has and can play with anybody. He will be a factor in the Sioux's success this year.
  17. Sounds Good Speez. I don't see how those boys that have been there won't have a real positive effect on the younger talented kids coach has brought in. I heard they have a goalie in camp that I like too. Go Marc Ranfranz. He is a solid gamer! Do you think Theresa Carter still has the sign! I know Kevin, Jason, Ryan and Chris L. only have one! If the Sophmores and juniors want two they better get this one! Let's Go Sioux! Let's Go Sioux I can here it now!!!! It sounds good

  19. LITTLE-KNOWN GOALTENDER SHINES IN RELIEF by Jason Simmonds, Summerside Journal-Pioneer Filed 09.19.2002 SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. -- Little-known goaltender Karl Goehring caught everyone's attention during the Columbus Blue Jackets' Blue and White intrasquad game Wednesday night. The five-foot-seven, 150-pound native of Apple Valley, Minn., stopped 22 of 23 shots to help lead the Blue Team to a 5-2 triumph before over 2,500 fans at Cahill Stadium in Summerside. Goehring relieved starter Marc Denis at 10:22 of the second period. "It was a well-played game and both teams came out wanting to give a good performance for the fans of P.E.I.," said Goehring. "It was a lot of fun out there." Goehring says he felt he was ready mentally, but shortly after entering the game David Ling rang a high slapshot off his face mask. "I got a wakeup call from David Ling," said Goehring with a smile. "From there I kind of just focused on my job and these guys are obviously great players in front of me. It's fun to be here and I'm having a great time." Goehring, 24, split last season between the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League and Dayton Bombers of the East Coast Hockey League. "He's had a great camp and has been working real hard," said Blue Jackets assistant coach Gord Murphy. "He has a great attitude out here. It's real nice to see a fine young guy like that come in and have such a good game." Goehring was especially sharp in the third period when the White Team went 0-for-4 on the powerplay and stopped 10 of 11 shots. The Blue Team went into the final 20 minutes with a 4-1 lead. "Actually Marc talked to me before going out for the third," said Goehring. "He told me, 'Be ready now because this game is not over and they're going to come out with everything here.' "It got me focused and again it was a lot of fun. It was a high tempo game tonight. It was great." Goehring caught the eye of head coach Dave King, who watched the game from the press box with associate coach Newell Brown and goaltending coach Rick Wamsley. "This guy has played well tonight (Wednesday)," remarked King after Goehring made one of his outstanding third-period saves. "He plays bigger than he is." Goehring is the least recognizable of the four goaltenders at camp this week. Denis and Pascal Leclaire are the team's present and future starters, and Jean-Francois Labbe played with the now-defunct AHL's P.E.I. Senators in the mid-1990s and has some brief NHL experience. "You could say he's (Goehring) unknown around the hockey world, but he's not unknown in our organization," said Murphy. "Our scouts have seen him quite a bit and the coaches know him a little bit. He was at the prospects camp in the summer, so he's somebody that we know and are real happy to have."
  20. Danny played squirts with Jason Notermann in Burnsville and lived just a few blocks from us in Savage. This is just brutal. Sounds like he will do OK and plans to play this season. Our prayers are with him.. The Notermann's
  21. Scott, Speez I am on your side it is just too bad that they spent a lot of time working Chris F. in on the power play. My question is who do you think will man the points on the power play. This is where we definately have a drop off from Mazurak, Roche, Schneekloth, Hammer of years past. Fournier spent a lot of time there and Skarperud was put there. Which of our young tough Dman is capable of being a playmaker from the top on the power play. I think that is key to successful %.. What do you guys think. I still think boot camp is over rated some guys can do push ups but when it is time to take the hill they don't show up. I think the upper classman last year were not as good as in the past at making the young guys feel comfortable. I think they were more nervous about there own work than letting the young guys feel like they were going to be a big part of it. I hope that makes some sense it does to me.
  22. Speez, I remember Lee Goren telling Kevin, Jason, Tim Skarperud and other freshman in 2000 that the team was only going to be as good as the young guys played. I think that is the kind of leadership I am in favor of not the sheriff type more of the shepherd type. I think that the upper classmen leaders should call on the younger guys to do the job and we just might have a great year to end 4 wonderful years with the Sioux. I hope so cause last year kind of sucked! I think you get it don't you!
  23. Team Good Teams Bad Teams Both are teams Good teams have leaders and guys who make the big plays. Guys that are willing to say jump on my back I will get it done. That is what is needed some guys to step up and say Let's get it done... follow me. I have been on teams where the best players aren't necessarily the top ironman guys see Les Steckel, See Ryan Sofie. I think we need guys with flash and confidence around the net. Goalies that expect to stop all the shots. Period. I think we will be good if some guys can lead from that perspective that this is a team and it is only as good as we make our weakest links feel. I know that on the teams that were real successful some of the best shifts came from the 3rd and 4th lines. That is what we need again. Everyone busting their butts to get the job done.
