Great game for Zane. To be able to give up some goals early and then shut it down in such a big game will hopefully be a good confidence-builder.

Where are all the "experts" that were defending the 5 minute major call on Scmaltz? I thought if a player saw a guy's numbers he was supposed to hold back or he would get called for a 5 minute major....That's what I was told by some of the blowhards--er, I mean experts, around here. Does that rule only apply to no-good dirty rotten UND players?

It looked bad because Leblanc went into "rag doll" mode instead of playing straight up like a man. Everybody watch the video on Goon's blog and see how slowly Schmaltz is coming towards Leblanc. I'd like to know what Brian Burke thought of the penalty. He was there. Don Adam would be a laughingstock if he was in the NHL.

1st bolded sentence is a straw-man argument. Show me where I made that argument, please. If you were actually paying attention, you would find that I said that we looked sloppy and flat, last night. Second bolded sentence: Tell that to the people that are attacking me for stating the obvious about Don Adam. Oh and the accusation that I must not know anything about hockey, because I have a different opinion: It's true that I don't know as much about it as some people, but I think I picked up a few things from playing it and watching it all my life, since I was 7. The better part of 20 years... (btw, thanks to my fellow Sioux fans that joined in with the St. Cloud fan "Huskie" in questioning my knowledge of hockey. You guys always eat your own, don't you? This seems like a personal attack. anyway, you people that are attacking me are the losers. Stop claiming you're fans, because a fan would never turn their backs on their players, constantly, like you guys. You guy are the first ones to change the subject and shift the blame to our players when someone points out how awful the refs are to us. You are obviously embarrassed by our team. Just come out and admit that you support Don Adam and Derek Shepherd over Jordan Schmaltz, Danny Kristo, Andrew MacWilliam etc. Stop trying to act like you are totally unbiased and "above the fray". You guys should all be Gopher fans, because you have internalized and adopted all of their thought patterns in regards to the Sioux. I feel like I'm talking to Gopher fans with all the accusations flying at me and at UND players.

Hey, if there are any young players out there that are thinking about coming to UND: Don't bother. You will get consistently screwed by the idiotic refs, even in your own barn. And your own fans will look the other way rather than risk being accused of making excuses. They'll even try to find reasons to blame you, rather than face the reality of the reffing situation. you're welcome in advance for saving you the trouble. Or you can hope things will change in the brand new conference, next year. We all just have to hope.

SCSU deserved to win, therefore it's OK that the reffing in this league sucks? I don't see the connection between those two propositions. anyway, tough game. hopefully, we play a lot better next time. And maybe two good performances in one weekend would be something for us to try... Good night everybody.

The fact is that's two bad 5 minute majors called against us already this year. And we see similar plays happen against us that gets a 2 minute penalty. I don't care if we won or lost tonight, it should make you mad that we are always getting screwed on these calls. I agree we were sloppy and flat tonight, so no excuses. We lost. Still, bad officiating is bad officiating and I'm not going to ignore it or deflect the blame onto our players.

It's true we could've played better and won, but why should we have to overcome bad reffing all the time? Sometimes a good team can barely win a game even when they are flat and that's how it should be. How many points have been left on the board from this stuff, over the years? how many pairwise comparisons have been lost? How many national tournament seeding spots have we dropped?

Would've been nice to see how the game went with consistent officiating, but I guess we've become so used to this $hit we don't even complain anymore. It's like an abused wife that makes excuses for her husband.

The thing that bugs me is that the refs seem to know that they are making bad calls so they then do make-up calls or make-up non-calls. I think the real problem is that some refs think that they should be in the spotlight as much as the players.
