maybe NDSU should hire this coach... TCU suspended its best player today! Casey Pachall was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated, and then was suspended indefinitely by Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson, NBC 5 in Dallas-Fort Worth reported. TCU coach Gary Patterson put out a statement through the school's sports information department, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "Casey Pachall has been suspended indefinitely from competition. My job as a head coach is to win games, educate our kids and help them with their lives."

Only that these players are not from the state of North Dakota and probably don't give two craps about it. Here he is proudly showing off a North Dakota State flag and yet he isn't ashamed to throw it under the bus to defend a bunch of "dummies" who just stole from the people and the state of North Dakota. I guess I wouldn't expect you to understand this situation.
-
Funny how you have the state flag of North Dakota as your avatar but you still defend those players! Those players took away a lot of things and money from the same state your are proudly representing on this board.

I love how Ryan Kennedy says that if you every used the line "boys will be boys" as justification, you should have lost the argument.

Like I have said from the beginning, this was a serious issue and it took people on this board a long time to realize it. I'm not here to gloat that I was right or anything like that, I am here to remind people that our great hockey program isn't as clean as everyone thinks it is. This situation was far from "boys being boys", this was about saving kids lives. I have to commend the RA who had the balls to call the police and I have to commend Faison and Hak for doing the right thing. I hope these players know that messing around with booze is not a joking matter and that they learned from their mistake.

Maybe the suspension to the captains was the punishment. Watchmaker thought that there might be more suspensions, I simply stated that I didn't think so. Could I be wrong? Maybe but I don't think the kids who received minors will get any suspensions, maybe a few "Around the World" conditioning drills but that's it.
-
I still don't foresee Hak changing right now. What happened was a total shame but the team is already on probation and suspensions have been handed out for the reason of not dragging this out any longer. I think Hak will do some internal discipline to these three minors and it will be over with.

CBS Sports Network releases 2012 college hockey schedule
siouxkid12 replied to nodak651's topic in Men's Hockey
I believe this is for this years games, which have no bearing on us. We still have three (I think) games on the NBC network though. -
I doubt it, in the past Hak usually hands out an internal discipline on the first MIP before suspending players.
-
Let's stop with the back and forth typed assaults, if you want to do that take it to PM's. Yzerman19, I think you have been away from the college scene for way too long, as this is what some college kids do. They don't sit around and just drink beer anymore (I believe that's the way to go if you are going to drink), they are out there to get BOMBED fast because they think its funny. This is why people on the board are applauding the AD and Hak, as they saw a problem and they are working on fixing it. This issue is far from "boys will be boys", this issue is about protecting someone else's kids because they are not mature enough to make the right choices.

Weekly team alcohol education programs Mandatory team community service program The whole team is on probation Suspensions to team leaders You don't just get those kinds of punishments for a "normal party". These punishments are indications of a serious problem that needed to be addressed.

I am glad you posted that link, it is a great read! Hopefully some people on this board read it and realize that this is something where you don't gain "TRUE" friendship over. You wouldn't let your friends play Russian Roulette, so why would you let them do a "power hour"?
-
Sorry, I guess I misunderstood you. By your standards they were sitting around drinking Mi Tie all evening while playing a smashing game of scrabble. Then the captains dropped off the freshmen players and they talked about what a great experience they had that evening.
-
Having a "team party" where they make the freshmen drink more alcohol than one can handle isn't hurting anyone?

This crap went on during Blais time but there was no internet or message boards during his time, that is why it wasn't well known. The difference between Blais's time and Hakstol's time is, Blais brought home 2 NCAA championships and Hakstol has not. With the teams and players Hakstol has had there is no reason he shouldn't have a few more banners hanging at the REA. You tie in all of these "screw ups" by these players, people are going to start wondering what the heck is going on in that locker room. I'm not saying they should fire Hakstol (he is a fine coach) but I, along with a lot of people who PAY their hard earned money to watch them play, would like to know why this crap is a reoccuring theme year in and year out?
-
So their are 60+ pages of "speculation" about how bad NDSU's football program is but god forbid we talk about our hockey program and how they screwed up big time?
-
How do you not see this as a big deal? This isn't just about partying, if it was it wouldn't have gotten as much attention as it did. This is about some student-athelets drinking way to much alcohol, which led to alcohol posioning. To me it is a big deal, so you can try and spin it with your stupid ABCDE questionaire but to some people this is a big deal.
